Absolutely loved Northern h River farms #2 campsite on south Mills River rd. We had a huge surprise birthday party for my dad and had 20-30 ppl there we all were super comfortable and had so much space. We e did not camp out instead had a family cook out cleaned up and went home. However we f ll on love and plan to camp out for the weekend. Candace and the north river farm was awesome. I love I’ll definitely be back and will 100%campsite there again in the near future.

3 nights at Broken Oak Riverside Getaway

Loved the quietness and the feeling of being totally remote being do close to Greenville. It was perfect for friends to be able to come up for the day to enjoy the river with us, but allowed us to still be "camping". The facilities are just a described and the hosts are great communicators. We will be back.

3 nights at Holly View Farm

This is an older campground that doesn't seem to have a lot of customers these days, but it's still a nice place to settle down for a little while. We had the place mostly to ourselves, and enjoyed sitting outside and watching the fireflies in the trees. The campground is an open, grassy field that is part of a cute family farm along a small road that doesn't see a lot of traffic. There are nine sites, not crowded at all, but with no trees or anything between the sites. The water and 30 amp electric were reliable. Tracie, the hostess, and her daughter were good friendly hosts that checked on us daily. The bathhouse is very old and doesn't seem to have been updated in a very long time, but it was clean when we arrived and there was a flushing toilet, a shower and plenty of hot water. There's only one spot each for men and ladies. We did not have cellular voice nor data service in the campground but with the open skies, the Starlink worked great. There was one older camper at the top end of the campground that appeared to be occupied by people that lived in that site. Another small camper was parked in another site that was overgrown with weeds; no one was at that site while we were there and I wondered if the camper was derelict. These two didn't directly affect us at all, but it did give a sense that the campground had seen happier times. Overall, not a bad place, basic hookups and close to town.

Weekend Trip to Hinsdale Farm-Mountain View Oasis

The views really are great, the outhouse structure(not completed on the inside) made setting up our outside shower and bathroom a breeze. Only downsides were the grass was knee high and the main road has about 200ft of full visibility to the site but for the price no complaints here.

Good communication with Patrick, much appreciated. The road in does have several muddy spots. To pass them you’ll need to stay to the right or left (don’t put your tires into the ruts) and accelerate to maintain forward momentum is important. The sites themselves are tidy and have a nice view of the river. The picnic tables are made of composite material and well-put together. There is also a sturdy metal fire pit which is nice.

We camped on site one and the experience was perfect. We had two access points to the river, tons of open space, privacy, and ample firewood. The spot was clean and well-maintained. Other posts mention a light at night. Either this is broken or it has been turned off as it was pitch black at night (good). The occasional car would drive by with campers or workers; however, this was the trade off to get a massive, open spot which was ideal for kids/play. Will return.

Site 9 May 24-26, 2025: A quiet spot next to the river, a walkway down to the bedrock beach with ankle - waist high water. Crystal clear water with fish everywhere. We were able to tube from the bridge down to the furthest campsites at the fork in the river. So much firewood at no cost. All sites we visited were clean and well maintained. All of the porta-potty's we used were very clean. FYI, site 9 is not as big as others sites and is tucked away under the trees in the back. It's also larger than 8. This was great for us as we just needed a small quiet place for a large tent. We saw cascading fireflies, wild turkeys, deer; plenty of wildlife. Of the 3 families we had spread out, there were no complaints at all. This was a great area for a quiet camp. Cons: And none of these things we really cared about but I think other campers should be mindful of. *The website could use some love; it's not as easy to use as others we have used in the past. We didn't have any issues with payment or contact with the host but more with the map and site locations. *There are no showers. Additionally, you get a porta-potty to share with 2-3 other sites. It was never crowded or funky or gross. *There is no running potable water so you have to bring it in. *We had rain, sites 8 & 9 road down is a muddy mess right at the bottom. We'd 100% stay here again and I have already forwarded the information to my employer so we can bring groups here to camp at the other larger sites.

From start to finish, our holiday weekend was amazing at Riverside site #2. We felt like we were deep in the woods despite easy access to modern life if we needed it (we didn't!). Craig was very responsive and provided everything we needed. There were no bugs, the tree canopy helped with rain and every moment was emerged in the beauty and solitude of the saluda river by our side. We will be back!

Haunted Barn Patio- Tent Site

Little did we know when we moved here, but this bit of land has a haunted history that we would love to share with you. This area is the home of the legend of the Pickens County Horror, made famous in a graphic novel penned by Mike Mignola, the creator of Hellboy. The original builder of our home was killed in our basement by his son. He was blown up and set on fire by a sabotaged gas stove and then left to burn to death in the backyard. There are strange noises and creatures that can be heard and sometimes seen at night. Neighbors are sometimes menaced by…something, which is why you’ll sometimes hear gunshots in the wee hours of the night. The Liberty Boom is often heard at random times during day and night. --- Have a stay in your tent or a hammock under our barn patio. We have a sun-warmed, gravity shower and a camp toilet onsite. There's also a picnic table for your use. Guests have their own parking spaces. There are trails to use right at the end of the driveway, and we can even be talked into taking you out on a haunted night hike if you’re up to it. Don’t be alarmed if you see the neighborhood donkey and horses in the front yard. Situated very close to Clemson University, upstate lakes, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and Sassafras Mountain, SC’s highpoint. You'll be staying on our farm, which is a working horseback riding and equine therapy facility as well as a sanctuary for many other animals (including mini cows, turkeys, chickens, a pig, alpacas, goats, and a llama!) But don't worry, your campsite is surrounded by beauty and privacy. Enjoy walking through the woods, sharing a picnic while visiting with the animals, or just having relaxing in nature! My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014. Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top. Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach. When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains. Perfect! In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home. As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage, that was outside of our budget continued to pop up. Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. Never stop dreaming! Hope to see you soon, cheers! Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent in the grass on the tip top of the mountain or park your camper in the flat gravel spot with a fire pit just below the top with beautiful views overlooking Cane Creek. In the fall and winter enjoy 360 degree views and in the summer enjoy the shade and cool breeze while relaxing & snacking on wild wine berries and black raspberries. What you will not find is light pollution, traffic, and a desire to leave the mountain. Fall asleep to the calls of the hoot owl and wake up to the knocking of the wood pecker. If & when you decide to explore the area, be sure to checkout Hickory Nut Gap farm just 7.9 miles away & Whistle Hop Brewery 7.7 miles away. Turgua brewery just down on Cane Creek road is only 6.2 miles from camp. Cane Creek Valley Farm as well as the Cane Creek Community swimming pool is also at the base of camp just in case the kids need a dip of ice cream or a dip in the pool. Justus Apple Orchard is only 10 miles down the mountain towards Hendersonville. We love taking our kids there. We are only 15 miles from downtown Asheville & Hendersonville, and 22 miles from Lake Lure. Kids can enjoy swings and slides. We used it for a small gathering where about a dozen guests gathered during the day and six spent the night. Could not have been happier with property or hosts. Fireworks are legal and permitted within reasonable hours. Horses are welcome.

Wildcat Outpost

For those familiar with the forest, our property is in the vicinity of Wildcat Technical, Wounded Road, and Chainbreaker trails. As private and wooded as our property is, we are only 10-15 minutes from downtown Clemson and less than 10 minutes from the small towns of Central and Six Mile. Lakes Hartwell and Keowee are also short drives. We currently offer a single campsite, which can accommodate several tents or a camper van. Our campsite features a composting toilet outhouse, and water is available from spigots at our house. Though fairly close to our house, the campsite has a very private feel due to being completely surrounded by a hardwood forest.
