The Martha’s Vineyard Family Campground began as a vacant wooded lot in 1968. The land was purchased by Charles and Jeanne Feeney from a retired doctor living in Vineyard Haven. Charles “Chuck” Feeney was an aerospace engineer at the time and was always taking his kids camping. His dream was to have a place for the family to camp and call their own. So together with his wife and five children he converted a bus into a camper and carved out a site amongst the wild blueberry bushes and scrub oak trees. Our family fell in love with the island. We discovered all the island has to offer and found it irresistible. We were the tourists of yesteryear and what attracted our family back then still exists today: beautiful beaches, fabulous fishing, quaint villages, and amazing sunsets. From the rolling hills of Aquinnah to the dunes of Katama, there is no place on earth like it. Martha’s Vineyard When Chuck found out his job was relocating him to California, he made the bold move to make his family campsite and land available to you. With a lot of hard work and great family pride, the construction of Martha’s Vineyard Family Campground began. During the first few summers of construction, we lived in the converted bus and tents. Slowly the sites and the roads were carved out. Summer vacations meant clearing land and pouring cement. The campground was officially opened in the spring of 1972 and has been a family-run operation ever since. Today the campground is managed by a third generation of The Feeney Family. The goal has always been to provide a quality camping experience for families who wish to visit this wonderful island. We had such a wonderful stay at this campsite! The host was incredibly accommodating and always quick to respond! She was amazing! It made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming from start to finish. We brought our two kids and our German Shepherd! The campsite was peaceful, clean, and thoughtfully set up. It was also great because it was super close to stores and restaurants as well. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we would happily come back again. Highly highly recommend for families and dog owners! 🏕️🐾✨

KSJoy’s property was as described and a nice spot to hang out for a couple of days before the busy holiday season kicks in. Full electric hookup. No water this time of year (was just shut off last week). Nice area. Drove around. Followed the host’s recommendations for local food. Great advice! Had our four dogs with us. The property is close to a fairly busy road so having good recall (or we brought a fencing system) is essential. The road noise Fri-Sun in mid Nov. was not an issue. The host was very communicative and answered all questions but was hands off which we liked. Highly recommend.

Extremely peaceful site, very quiet. Exactly what we needed!! We were there for the whole month of October without any issues. Tristan is so nice and friendly. Would absolutely recommend this site!!

The area is very quiet and private. There is water and electric available although we didn't need it. Communication was excellent and host was friendly and accomodating. We enjoyed meeting the goats and sheep. Perfect stay .

This was our first HipCamp experience and it did not disappoint. Very beautiful and secluded property with lovely sheep and goats to keep you company. Chris was very responsive and accommodating during our visit. We will definitely stay here again when in the NE area!

Beautiful views, nice firepit and trees to park the cars under. Private and easy to get to off the road. There are beehives nearby, which would be important to know if someone has an allergy. Overall a nice place to camp.

Loved this site! A little tricky to navigate to, but quite fun that’s it’s hidden away in the woods with not a traffic sound to be heard. The animals are so cute (fainting goats Marshmallow & Graham Cracker were a huge hit with the toddler), electric hookup is easy and potable water very nearby, and the hosts were so lovely, welcoming us and communicating promptly to make sure we were settled in alright. We got their recs for activities and food in the area, as well- would love to return to Mystic, and when we do, we’ll be staying here again!

Jim and Amy’s spot might not be the traditional Hipcamp setting (it’s in their driveway) but it’s the perfect place to explore Newport if you’re in an RV. Just park and you’re a short walk to downtown and the water with easy access to drive the famous Ocean Drive. And as hosts, you won’t find any better. Experts on the area/history and always willing to assist with anything you need…and don’t miss out on the campfire experience in the backyard—it’s a great hang!

The spot was perfect. Electric and water set up was spot on. Super close to Mystic, few town roads being you right there, which was what we were looking for. Chris was super responsive and the whole experience was lovely.
