This property was once a religious shrine. It was purchased by an American Rock Star as a pet sanctuary. Once we bought this place we though it was appropriate to call it, “The Sanctuary.” We use a portion of the income at this property to help our nieces/nephew's with their schooling and college.

We came down here from New England in 1997 because we were invited by some locals to teach hanggliding here. At that time as certified HG instructors we thought ok lets try..came down here with our backpacks, a few hang gliders, my dog Shadow and figured we would see how it worked out. Renting places to stay for a few years and including rooms for visiting students we had this opportunity to get and fix up this old house. It was a continuation of my dream to have a back pack travelers ,adventure travelers, artists, LBGTQ friendly, off the beaten path type of place to stay. And so in 2004 Barefoot Travelers Rooms and Adventures Guesthouse was born. I look forward to welcoming you here if the road leads you this-a-way.

Do you remember the stories about the simple & beautiful times from our grandpas? Sleeping with a mosquito net, cooking in a bonfire, & taking a shower outside? Playing & enjoying the simplicity of the life! Now available with lake access This is your opportunity to travel to the past, without being in the past. Enjoy this magnificent museum piece! All the pieces are original & give you an idea of our grandparents life. Sleep enjoying the sound of the coquis & natural life. Welcome to the 1950. The space . The grandpa house is everyone's favorite, including Bad Bunny's. Featured in multiple short films, movies, and the last musical video from Bad Bunny, "Pitorro de Coco". A hidden gem inside the mountains of the municipality of Cidra. Excellent space to disconnect you from the busy life of the city and get in contact with nature. You can walk, hike, make a bonfire, or just sit at the lakeshore to recharge your batteries. Enjoy the views and the sound of the coqui during the sunset. Enjoy the stars and the night sky away from the city. Live the experience of the past and remember our grandparents. In the grandpa's house, you will live like them. This is a triple experience to the past in only one place: 2. In an adjacent structure, the 1950 grocery store, you will have access to a traditional bathroom with a shower, a 2-burner gas stove, a small refrigerator, and a microwave. You will have the basic commodities but live like Grandpa. 3. Visit the iconic ranch where Bad Bunny film his musical video "Pitorro de Coco" Boricua owned! Guest access You will have access to the entire property. The grandpa's house and grocery store (where the traditional bathroom with shower, refrigerator, and microwave are located). This is a rural and country property, surrounded by nature and creeks, with direct access to Cidra Lake. Drive carefully, but all vehicles can get access without problems. Vehicles like a Toyota Camry, an SUV, or a 4x4. Other things to note Use only Google Maps to drive to the property; you can get lost if you use other apps like Apple Maps. Remember this is a rural area with just a few traffic lights; we highly recommend arriving early the 1st time to get familiarized with the area.Wi-Fi: There is no Wi-Fi signal in Grandpa's house, but if you need to use it, you can access the Wi-Fi service close to the main house. You will be in the middle of 5 acres of land, in total contact with nature and in an emblematic property from the 50's. In simple words: there are no screens on the windows, and you sleep with a mosquito net. Insects are a vital part of the flora and fauna, and you can see a wide variety of them in the surroundings, from lizards to fireflies. In the same way, and despite the fact that we have an exterminator visit every 2 weeks, sometimes they can be inside the grandfather's house. A real, genuine, and magical experience. For those not familiar with the local driving conditions, it's advisable to approach the journey with a sense of adventure and patience. The roads, while providing an authentic experience of the country's topography, may require a bit of adaptability from drivers more accustomed to city driving.Compact vehicles are more than capable of reaching our hidden oasis. The key is to drive safely, taking your time to navigate any twists, bumpy roads, and turns with care. The reward for your efforts is an untouched sanctuary, where the untouched beauty of nature awaits. We are close to Monasterio Santa Clara - only for reference
