We came down here from New England in 1997 because we were invited by some locals to teach hanggliding here. At that time as certified HG instructors we thought ok lets try..came down here with our backpacks, a few hang gliders, and figured we would see how it worked out. Renting places to stay for a few years and including rooms for visiting students we had this opportunity to get and fix up this old house. It was a continuation of my dream to have a back pack travelers , adventure travelers, artists, LBGTQ friendly, off the beaten path type of place to stay. And so in 2004 Barefoot Travelers Rooms and Adventures Guesthouse was born.

Best Hipcamp Ever!
Barefoot Travelers is so much more than a Hipcamp. It features large clean bedrooms, a kitchen stocked for breakfast along with airy comfortable common rooms. Even with the house being as awesome as it is Keishya is the real star of the show. She went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect. Her kindness and hospitality are second to none!

A perfect host! The first thing that jumped out at me was how open and communicative Keishya was prior to our stay. Once we arrived we found her warm and friendly and felt immediately welcomed. The guest house was clean and well supplied and made for a perfect landing spot for our Puerto Rico vacation. I hope we get the chance to return someday. Thank you Keishya :)

Keishya's place was easy to find and easy to access because her directions were great. The communiction was excellent and she graciously allowed us to arrive a little later than planned. She greeted us personally and gave a tour of the amazing accommodations. Everything was clean. The kitchen was laid out is an organized fashion and Keishya even had breakfast supplies for us. I would *highly* recommend staying here.

Nice time was had!
The location is fantastic near El Yunque and several other rainforest parks. It’s right near a more private beach as well in the Punta Santiago Region. Layout Basically, this is separate part of a larger home with 3 bedrooms sharing a kitchen and living room. Two of the bedrooms share a bathroom/ shower. The house can be noisy due to the tile floors, but nothing too crazy. Provided: A pool, towels, soap, internet (slow). Cooking supplies fridge plates and kitchen. Perfect for keeping food costs low. All rooms had AC which for someone who is from a dryer climate became necessary in the humidity. Cellular service inside is blocked quite a bit depending on your carrier and room you are in (both AT&T (Liberty) and T-Mobile struggled). Going outside alleviated those issues. Property, while worn, was exceptionally clean and beautiful. The Host, Keishya, went above and beyond to accommodate me (as well as the other guests). She is a bubble of positive energy.

Wonderful beachside retreat
Staying at Barefoot Traveler was a delight: clean, comfortable, affordable. It was easily walkable to a calm, sandy beach and a nature reserve. But the best thing about the space was Keiysha herself. She's friendly, welcoming, and so knowledgeable about local goings on. If you are able to go kayaking with her to monkey island, it will be one of the highlights of your vacation. We wish her good luck and hope to return one day! One tip: do NOT use the google pin on the Hipcamp listing to get there, it dropped us 45 minutes away by car. Instead, type in "Barefoot Travelers Rooms and Adventures" and you'll get to the right place. :)
