With 4 campsites on 75 acres, guests have ample privacy and space, with the freedom to roam this posted property that has no homes on it. Perched high above the Allegheny there are several spots to take in the wonderful views. There is also a waterfall with a 3’ deep pool below it. Great for splashing with kids or dogs, guests love exploring the creek bottom and making new discoveries. The more curious guests sometimes find the ruins of the original homestead, chimney and spring house that sit upstream. The property is teeming with wildlife. Birds and tree frogs will be the soundtrack of your visit, and often deer will be seen nosing along the outskirts of your site in the mornings and evenings. Turkey, bald eagles and even bear are occasionally spotted, so be prepared to secure your food and trash at night. For those coming to disconnect, you have found the right place. Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. A lot of wildlife to see including deer, bear, fox, coyote, several bird species and bald eagles. We're close to State Gamelands for hunting. You're welcome to eat any fruit that has ripened here during your stay. The miles of ATV trails are also fun to hike, or ride your horse on. Campfires allowed, leashed pets allowed...must be leashed at all times...dogs, cats, horses, Bring your pets! There is a spring, with potable water, on the property. Beautiful sunsets here, plus an amazing view across Reesedale road. You might catch a rainbow too if it rains! Our personal favorite view is the vast nighttime sky... Perfect place for stargazers. Watch the beautiful sunrises and "moon-rises" over the tree tops. You can run generators anytime, but please be considerate of other campers. Very Private location. There is a bar/restaurant close by in Adrian. It's 10 miles to downtown Kittanning, where festivals and concerts in the park are held, plus more restaurants, stores, and rails to trails for bike riders. There are fishing ponds and large glacial rock formations nearby. Tours to the places mentioned can be scheduled for a fee if we're available. We will have a small map of the area with places marked. You're welcome to cut and use fallen trees. Please don't bring firewood from other counties due to spread of diseases and destructive insects. Very easy to find, well kept, quiet campsite by the creek. Though the weather was quite cold, I really enjoyed my stay at Muddy Myst. The trails were easy to navigate and the pond was beautiful! Can’t wait to come back in the warmer months for a dip!! Can’t thank you enough Liam enough for the complimentary coffee- much needed after waking up in 30 degrees!!! Will definitely be back:)

Virgil & Pam really go above and beyond at The Fern House! The cabin was comfy and stocked with everything one could need for an extended weekend away. Our hosts were generous and gracious. They provide great communication and hospitality. We spent 3 nights and wish it could've been longer! Our pups loved the mile walk around the property each morning plus great hiking spots nearby. We took advantage of the fireplace, local eatery suggestions, and the loft was the perfect hideaway for resting and waking to beautiful wooded views. We cant wait to come back!

This was our first stay at Muddy Myst after looking at it on Hipcamp for a while now! With the state parks closing it was the perfect time to try this place out, and it was amazing!! The hosts were amazing and made us feel right at home! Falling asleep listening to the creek all night was also amazing. Will definitely be back!!

Nice and quiet and secluded. Firewood was there. It was a cold night and was able to setup my tent no problem and park onsite. Directions to site were accurate. Note there is no phone service there, which was not an issue. Had the best night of sleep Ive had in years.

Fantastic property! We rented the tree cabin but the tent sites also looked great. All the amenities you could ask for while still being rustic and private. We visited for our annual fall leaf peeping trip, but we fully intend to come back in the summer--we are excited to take advantage of the cute little pond for swimming and kayaking. Would highly recommend!!

Such a beautiful location. The views were amazing. The hosts were super accommodating and kind. They were on site when we visited, and they offered to give my nieces and nephews a ride in their buggy. They had a blast. Kids and dogs loved trekking through the creek and exploring the waterfall. The open field was great for us to play all sorts of games. Played capture the flag at night. All in all a great time.

This is a great spot to tent camp under the trees, enjoy a campfire (with firewood supplied!), and stargaze at a relatively secluded spot. The hike down to the creek is beautiful! I would definitely return to this spot.

Had a great weekend at Redbank Retreat. With just a few lots, the place was amazing and peaceful. With the flowing creek just a few feet from our site and the bike and hiking trail within minutes it definitely is a gem. The owners were very nice and really made us feel at home as they made a check on us to make sure that everything was going well. The sites were clean and level making setup a breeze. A newly reconstructed boarding house with a few rental units within sits on the property as an alternative to trailer camping. Have to say that a five star rating is appropriate for this little piece of God’s Country. Thank you Clayton & Mandy!

We absolutely loved staying in the Fernhouse!! It was perfect. It was adorable and so cozy. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The location was wonderful! So close to hiking trails and lots of outdoor recreation. The hike around the property was beautiful and our dogs loved walking it with us in the morning. The outdoor area is super cozy too. Virgil was so kind and welcoming. We will be back again in another season!! I would highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our camping experience at Muddy Myst. There was a ton of helpful information provided before our arrival and more available in the common area. The site felt private yet the common area and restroom were easy to access. I was particularly impressed with the extra touches, fall flowers on our picnic table, very nice soaps and air freshener in the impeccably clean bathroom, and a helpful space to clean up some dishes and get some hot water for cocoa in Hank's Hangout. This site is maintained lovingly.
