Weekend Trip to Peace & Quiet by the River!

We had a wonderful time camping at site 2! Beautiful, clean, spacious, private, and having a washing station (even non-potable) was really great. There was a perfect spot for the hammock down by the water, and lots of equipment for campfire cooking. Susan has a great system in place, and check in was a breeze. Highly recommend!

2 nights at Peace & Quiet by the River!

We had a great experience camping on the farm! It was also such a help to arrive to have our firewood on site. Jenn was there to meet us at our arrival time and was incredibly friendly and helpful. We also spent the day hiking at Hawk Mountain which was literally a five minute drive from the farm.

Weekend Trip to Ironwood Trail & Private Campground

David has setup a beautiful campsite in a relaxing and peaceful location. He is very informative of the do’s and do-nots of his property while also being incredibly easy going. The stonework ( all done by David ) is very well done and gives the camping area a very medieval vibe. Definitely would recommend this site to anybody looking for a private and relaxing camping experience.

Weekend Trip to Forks Farm Campground

My fiancée and I decided to stay at Forks Farm Campground this past weekend (last weekend in March) and it was magnificent!! Campsites are right by the water, you can even pick one with lovely white noise of trickling water as your falling asleep at night. My fiancée likes to fish so having access to the waterway outside your tent is the best it can get. They had fire wood by each of the sites to use and pay by honor system. They also have a camp store with farm fresh foods, snacks and ice. The campsites are very secluded and feel like a real get away. Major stores like Walmart etc. are 10miles/20mins away. Overall 10/10! We will be going back and inviting friends and family!

Great communication. Nice property. Was grateful for 30 amp connection! Only stayed for the night passing through while I was heading back home. Felt safe, which as a single woman traveling alone, is very important! Would recommend and will use again if I'm in that area.

Cutest trip! Loved the tiny home very peaceful. Doug and Lisa were very generous and gave us a flashlight, newspapers, a lighter, fire starter, and made us cookies! There are some nice trails for you to explore on the property and beautiful artwork all throughout. A must visit!

We had a great weekend camping at the unique setting of Fairfield Farm. Bill and Erin were wonderful hosts. The farm fresh eggs they offer are great and the option of unlimited firewood takes the guesswork out of the equation. The grass airstrip with an old plane at the edge of the field with the mountains in the background make for great photos. We definitely recommend staying here, it’s peaceful and serene.

Deb and Jim’s hipcamp is literally the type of place we search for extensively to find the “perfect spot”. It had everything: privacy, creek, farmland, outhouse, small local shop. They checked all the boxes for convenience, yet the location feels super secluded and that’s our favorite part. Long time campers here and this is by far the best spot se have found and our favorite. Keep up the good work! We can’t wait to visit again!!

My partner and I love camping and we had a great time camping here to celebrate his 30th birthday. The views from Site 3 are beautiful overlooking the farm and mountains, you get a pretty great view of the sunset! A short walk to the river as well. The peace and energy here was really refueling, a lot more private than other campsites we’ve been to. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating when we needed to check out a bit later bc of our car battery dying. Definitely recommend and will be returning!

The area was beautiful. Swatara Park has great hiking trails. Bathroom was very clean and heated (just a short walk down a hill). Plane definitely just for photos. Owners were very kind and accommodating to requests.

The 66-acre property has been licensed as an airport (PS20) since the 1980s. It is currently an active, private airport. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! The beautiful sunsets and stargazing night skies are a real treat for anyone that comes to visit. Lots of deer, birds, and other wildlife can be seen out and about. Bring your telescope and binoculars to view all the property has to offer! Note that we are always working to improve our slice of heaven, thus we do have tools, vehicles, and equipment stored around the farm that if not used now will be one day. We appreciate your understanding that some areas are used for our personal / farm storage. If you're not into looking at our farmware, there are a few nearby campgrounds. The hot tub is located next to the owner's home. Guests are welcome to use this at any time but must reserve and pay for a time slot. * Book this through the Extras * We are within walking distance of Swatara State Park and close to the Appalachian Trail. Short drive to the local winery, bowling alley, pub/diner, and movie theater. Grocery stores and gas are also nearby. Miles of hiking, rail trail, single-track mountain biking, and kayaking are all right here! See our kayak and bike rentals under extras! Hershey Park is approximately a 30-minute drive from our location. Rausch Creek, Anthracite, and Reading off-road areas are also nearby. Note: Monthly rental discounts are available. The Lookout

Our property consists of 20 acres of the beautiful Blue Mountain. At the Lookout you can see for 40 Miles across the valley below. With views from Allentown, Lyons and Reading. The area with the view is a shared area for both sites. Feel free to use the fire ring while you sit and watch the evening sky. It is breathtaking at night. At the bottom of the mountain there is a Gunclub with a shooting range and you will hear shooting from the property. Please note it is far away and there is no danger Our property is mostly the mountain side. But with an area that is flat for tent camping. The property is close to Route 309 but there is a camping area away from the road. Our land is next to the road and you will hear some road noise. We are next to National Parks land which also consists of the Appalachian Trail and also against the Pennsylvania Game Lands. You can walk up the street or trail to Thunderhead Lodge Restaurant. Leaser lake is a short drive if you like fishing or kayaking. The Wanamakers Store is a unique place to visit with amazing sandwiches. The Wanamakers and Kemton railroad is close by for a weekend train ride. Bear Rock Junction is close by for mini golf and ice cream. Eight Oaks Distillery is only a few minutes away. Several wineries and antique shops as well. You may also see Appalachian Trail Thru Hikers come thru our property to stay at the hostel. Please welcome our hikers as they come to rest their weary bodies. Welcome to the Lookout. We have made many improvements to our land but also try to maintain the beauty it is. Esidarap Mountain

Note: For the winter months we are closed, we reopen in march. The furthest we are open at any given moment is about six months. We close when hunting season comes in during the fall. Description of camp: This is not a glampsite! There are limited utilities here. No Drinking water, just water for the fire. There is a self serve firewood store, you may also forage dead wood. Here only one group may camp at a time. The campsite is a big level hilltop clearing surrounded by acres of woods. There is stone driveway that leads to the site that gets you back into the woods. The driveway is wide enough for trucks, trailers, vans, etc. Since the site is up high it gets a great breeze which helps on warm days and gets good cell service. The campsite gets great sun and has shaded areas along the sides that make for good tent pitching. We have had people set up hammocks, tents, tarps, or camp in their vehicle. We provide a privy (outhouse), an outdoor showerroom/changing room, picnic tables, and a metal fire pit with grill rack that you can put in the fire pit if you wish to cook/grill over it. The woods are hilly so biking is not recomended. On the property we have 2+ miles of hiking trails. PLEASE feel free to contact us for any questions. Also please look at our pictures for a better idea of what we offer. Nearby Activities: A short drive from here will take you to Gettysburg, York, or Hanover. Codorus park offers great hiking and is next to a lake. There are many excellent restaurants and brewpubs nearby, including the award winning Warehouse Gourmet Bistro and Brewpub. For more information read our activities section to find out what other things we provide or have nearby that you can do. Pricing: We have a weeknight discount for the site which is 29 dollars (Sunday-Thurdsay nights). Friday night and Saturday night we charge 35 dollars. Any additional guests after five we charge 9.50 dollars per person. We allow up to 10 guests total. Rules: Extinguish camp fires that are unattended and to only make them in the designated fire pit, no noise past 9 o'clock, discharging of firearms and fireworks are prohibited, do not bring firewood (to prevent invasive bug spread), keep your pets attended/on a leash, clean up after your pets, no cutting down trees

It is private and has the same set up as site one. Park your car on top of hill and walk on down. It is a lovely spot. Walk is about 50 yards down a steep hill. Pack accordingly. Campsite #3 (High Site) Site 3 is above the river and looks over Hawk Mountain and the farm. It is private with beautiful views. Unreal full moon gazing............. Sunrise, Sunset, Moon rise, Bird watching, all very visible from this site. Car accessible, no walking to campsite required. At all sites, different seasons bring different activities. Spring: Kayaking, fishing and hiking. Summer: hiking, fishing in the pond, cooling off in the swim hole. Fall: raptor watching, hiking, biking plus fishing, (license required), in the Little Schuylkill. The nights are dark with star lit skies. We have a 1.5 acre bass pond on the farm for fishing, so bring your rod. Big bass in there!! Your camp site is surrounded by woods and forest, fields and trees. You are a two hour drive from center city Philadelphia and 2.5 hours from down town New York City. One hour from Harrisburg. What to do here? Plenty! Hiking! River Mountain Outdoors

The history of the Pump House began in 1878, when three ambitious men hatched a plan for the world's first long-distance underground oil pipeline which would transport oil from well to refinery more quickly and efficiently than the horse-drawn wagons of the time. Pumping stations were needed every fifty miles along this long route to keep pressure on the pipeline so that the oil could reach its destination. Pump House Bed and Breakfast is one of the only properties in the country in which the both the original homes of the foremen and the large brick buildings remain. Doug, owner, has spent more than 20 years lovingly restoring these foreman houses as well as the large industrial brick buildings. The Brick Barn Hall once housed steam pumps to pressurize the pipe and keep the oil moving, and the Catawissa Cabin behind it served as the telegraph office. The Studio Hall contained boilers that produced the steam to power the pumps, while the adjoining Studio Cabin functioned as a blacksmith's workspace. Today, the buildings function as reception spaces for weddings and other special events, and house private suites as well as an art studio where Doug pursues his work and teaches drawing, ceramics, and stained glass classes. The campground is easily accessed from the Bloomsburg exit of Interstate 80, ten miles north on SR 487, and 1.5 miles east of Forks on Winding Road. The nearest major town is Bloomsburg, 10 miles to the south, and both Philadelphia and New York City are within a 3-hour drive.

Little Mahanoy Creek Campground

There are 3 campsites located in the gap of the little Mahanoy Mountain and line Mountain range along the little Mahanoy creek. All four campsites have creek access and come with picnic table garbage can and fire ring and Firewood is usually available. There are two Porta potty‘s one located at each end of the sites. There are trails for hiking which extends along an abandoned railroad bed and also up into State game lands and into the deep woods. The hiking in the woods is on an incline. But the hiking on the railroad bed is pretty unintense. There is parking at each site. The sites are spread out along the creek bed ranging from more of a rustic primitive tent camping on site 4 to an open site on site 1.

Ironwood Trail & Private Campground

It took seven years to carve this winding trail and two-level scenic campsite into the wooded hill behind our home. Now completed, I feel inspired to share their solitude and beauty with others who will appreciate it. From the top of a steep drive, a brief but precipitous hike leads you high up very quickly through a mature forest to some steps that lead the first of two camping locations leveled within clefts of rocks forming a pair of overlooks. A soft, level campsite awaits you there under a canopy of trees where you will find everything you'll need for a small-scale deep forest outing. The lower level either stands alone (1-2 persons) or serves as a base camp for the Northwest Expansion area (3-4 persons) a very short hike away. (Please inquire about additional campers.) The expansion features a roomy 13 x 15ft groomed tenting surface, a stone fire ring with steel fire pit, and plenty of extra space to spread out. It provides an additional layer of privacy and a (leaf-permitting) northwest view that usually includes a sunset. [Note: Reservations include use of both the lower level and the upper Northwest Expansion camping areas. Keep in mind that the technical nature of the trail and terrain makes it unsuitable for most children under 10 years old.] Hundreds of feet away, there are a few homes residing below the camps, but you are high enough above the world below to enjoy a sense of separation from it. Were these camping areas part of any state or commercial campground in Pennsylvania they would easily be among the best tenting sites in the state. Even among Hipcamps we were awarded a top-ten rating in 2018 and 2019+ - and we've improved since then. People love it here. Guests will find a huge, well-stocked chest of supplies at the lower level to furnish virtually any extra thing(s) that may help you camp in comfort, from a Coleman cookstove and table, an air pump, a kettle, a 8x10 tarp, plates and cups and cutlery-there's even a Scrabble game and playing cards. You get the idea. ** We ask our guests to arrive prepared with their own supplies and to use the supply box as a backup for items that may have been forgotten or to fill in for things they do not want to purchase for a single outing.** (Please do not depend solely on the camp supplies to meet ALL of your camping needs!) We took items on most camping lists and tried to have them waiting in the box so you can visit without worrying about forgetting anything. Firewood bundles can be purchased at any time during your stay. We try to keep an abundant supply in a woodpile at the trailhead that you purchase as needed via cash, Paypal or Venmo. Wood can easily be gathered, there are even hatchets and hand saws in the supply box for cutting fallen branches down to size. We also provide a two-person hammock, plastic Adirondack chairs, battery powered lanterns, citronella torches, etc. Cell chargers and jugs of drinking water are available upon request. The woods are teeming with resident species of woodpeckers, owls, warblers and more, and vultures and hawks and can almost always be seen riding thermals overhead. If you're lucky the turkeys will come to roost in the woods above the area as they often do. The best part is that no one else will know you are up there. In addition to overnight stays, daytime and evening hours are available too for morning bird walks, lunch breaks, herbal retreats, sunset cookouts--whatever guests might imagine doing in the privacy of the outdoors. Tree climbing and treetop camping are welcome and encouraged for anyone looking for a good place to hang their gear and enjoy the view.
