Weekend Trip to DLR Mustang Ranch

This place is truly a hidden gem—I can’t wait to come back! Renee was incredibly kind and welcoming, making sure I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The cabin was cozy and well-kept, and falling asleep each night to the soothing sounds of nature was pure bliss. One of the highlights of my visit was spending time with all the animals—especially the beautiful mustangs and the unforgettable Fred the turkey! It was such a peaceful and memorable escape.

Weekend Trip to DLR Mustang Ranch

Our experience was so peaceful that we had to stay another day. The host family was so inviting it was like we were apart of the family. The work that the family is doing on the DLR Ranch is honorable, rehabbing horses and also Helping Our Veterns. We can not wait for our next visit. I give the DLR Ranch a 10 out of 10.

We had a remarkable time at the DRL Mustang Ranch! We were seeking the perfect place to camp and enjoy nature, and boy did we find it. From the stunning mustangs, donkeys, peacocks, ducks, and of course Fred the friendly Turkey, we truly had a wonderful time and were one with nature. Weekend Trip to DLR Mustang Ranch

Our experience was nothing short of amazing. We were greeted by a wealth of animals both domestic and wild, yet the ambiance was incredibly peaceful. What set this place apart from all the others was the host, Renee, and her family. They were warm, inviting and gracious. The story behind the mission of their ranch for both the Mustangs and Veterans is honorable and is a reflection of the family you will meet. All this along with comfortable accommodations makes this "my go to place".

We had a very lovely and relaxing time. The farm is beautiful and we even had a chicken hang out with us for a while. Christina is a great host and her husband was kind enough to pull our van with his tractor when we got stuck due to the wet morning grass. Highly recommended.

It was a home away from home ❤️ Loved every second of it from the critters, to the frog pond to the amazing little place to lay our heads. I couldn't have asked for better hosts. Be prepared to become best friends with the turkey Fred though...what a stud of a bird. Lol

This spot is wonderful. The property is serene, well-kept, and very accessible. Donald provides everything you could need, and then some. He was very responsive and kind. I’d highly recommend a stay here if you’re ISO a luxury night in the woods.

The farm that this campsite is located on sure lives up to its name. We enjoyed many other animals on top of the beautiful equine that surrounded us. The willingness of the owner to help us out in any way possible was pleasantly surprising. They also carry out an awesome mission there that you would have to check out for yourself. We can't wait until next year when we will visit again. Great experience!

I would absolutely recommend this site! Note that this is an open field (no trees) at the top of a hill, but there is a wooded area with a large table very close by. Worth it because the view is beautiful! It was also so convenient to already have a tent with a bed and a second structure set up. Maggie was a responsive, kind, and helpful host.

This is my second time staying on Gerard's property, the land is so lovely and quiet and full of life! I love all the animals, Gerard took his time to introduce us to all of them and allowed us to hold the ducks and everything. Always a magical time. The hay was so comfortable and smelled so nice.

Fantastic spot for car camping! The host was very nice and instructions were very clear. It was raining the first night we arrived so the teepee tent was VERY handy to hang out in and rain proof. The next day was beautiful and we got to explore the land a bit with our dog (on leash). The host supplied dry firewood for our rainy weekend and we were very appreciative. The evening view from the hill into the baller was really pretty and calming. We’ll be back for sure!

DLR Mustang Ranch

Located roughly 20 miles from Beaver Creek State Park, DLR Mustang Ranch is a 17-acre peaceful sanctuary for many wild and previously wild mustangs. The Ranch offers veteran and first responder mustang programs year-round. Please let us know if you are a veteran or first responder for a special rate. Accommodations include a small one-room cabin nestled on a little pond. The cabin has electricity, a microwave, small refrigerator, tv, futon, heating and cooling; however, it does not have plumbing. Nearby is an outhouse with electricity and a water pump fed from well water. There is a firepit for cooking and picnic tables available. There is also flat space for tent camping beside the cabin area. If a more secluded area is preferred, there is a 4-acre field in the back of the property surrounded by woods; however, it should be noted the only outhouse is located by the cabin. Splitting the property in half at the bottom of a wooded hill is a quiet stream full of small wildlife. Coyotes often cut through the woods and the 4-acre pasture. There is space for an RV in the driveway next to the woods with electric hookup and access to the outhouse, water pump, and firepit. While this is a working ranch with farm animals, our aim is to create a peaceful relaxing environment in order to unwind and enjoy the creation around us. Going in the pastures with horses while unaccompanied by the owners is prohibited; however, it can be arranged for you to meet and interact with the mustangs if interested. There are other farm animals including sheep, a goat, pigs, donkeys, peacocks, turkeys, chickens and ducks on the premises. If you want a quaint country escape complete with farm sounds, this is the spot for you!

Growing up and building on the back of our Family Farm is the best goal I ever set for myself! My Off-Grid 20 acres has raised my 2 kids and all the animals we could rescue! We run a Horse Boarding Facility along with Freezer Meat of all sorts. It's a small Hobby Farm but we love it all the same! Family environment that's down to earth! Learn more about this land: Sites 1 and 2 are for campers/tents. Sites 3 and 4 are tent only spots. No shade. Top tent spots up in field (3 and 4) need a higher vehicle to get to them. A bit Off Road. 3 has privacy with Antique Trailer but 4 is wide open. Fire ring at all of them/with wood. Horse stalls/guided trails available for the campers bringing their own horses. If advanced notice, an hour Lesson or Ride can be scheduled. Our animals are friendly and love attention. Dogs welcome but need a leash. Our Family run Farm is willing to accommodate your needs. Sunnyday's farm and forest was a Christmas tree farm in the 1950's. I've owned it for the last 30 years and it is now a horse farm with pastures and woods.Rustic area of 25 acres of pastures and forest bordering a hundred of acres of railroad and municipal forest. Great for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking. 1.5 miles from Deer Lakes park which has fishing, hiking, mountain biking and a great playground. The Allegheny river, judged to be one of the cleanest in the country, is just 6 miles away. Harrison Hills park offers great hiking along the river and an occasional river otter. The Rachel Carson Trail and Baker trail are just a few miles away. It is a secluded log cabin in the woods on top of a hill overlooking a pasture. It is a very primitive cabin with a fireplace, brick floor, large porch, fabric interior and no chinking in the logs. We provide a bunk bed and cots and 2 picnic tables.. There is a large grassy area in front of the cabin for tents. There is no vehicle access, no electricity and no water at the cabin, but LOTS of downed wood for fires. There are horses, goats, chickens, ducks and a pig that roam the pastures. The cabin is about 300 yards from the parking area up a fairly steep hill, but the location is worth the walk! If you're stopping with an RV or trailer we have ample parking near the road and have overnight accommodations for horses Great place for a stopover.
