Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. This spot is best for a van camp location but plenty of space for tents and hammocks. You'll find a drive-up deck if you wish to park there. Firewood is available providing you use downfalls as kindling in the stone fire pit. A 8x20' deck and picnic table are 20 feet from the fire for stargazing. When the ferns are full grown they are 3 feet tall and everywhere. A 10 minute walk takes you through a dense pine forest with large rock formations and a nice creek with many gurgling fall areas. If there looks like a cave amongst the large rocks, then it probably is a bear den. There is a lot to do near by. Some note worthy locations : Cranberry Glade Lake (good for kayaking or fishing), Ohiopyle, 7 Springs, Fallingwater, Living Treasures, Caddie Shak, and Hidden Valley are all about 25 minutes away. This property also borders Laurel Ridge State Park. There is a Dollar General and a gas station about 15 minutes away for convenience needs.

All the sites are located with in walking distance next to the famed boat rental Hazelbakers! Our sites are on or near the Yough Riverbank. Although the train runs near by a few times a day, it will hardly be noticed while you are enjoying the beauty of the area. The Allegheny Passage bike trail runs nearby across the river. You can access it using the Layton bridge that crosses the river over our property. We have a very strict no asshole policy. If you are an asshole or plan to bring an asshole with you please go camp at the KOA. Camping is not an all night or two day tailgate party, hooping it up, drinking or doing drugs all night on your weekend off with 20 of your friends. Camping at our sites should be calm and relaxing. Other campers and people in general should not have to hear you, your music, or your fun and you should not have to hear theres. We have a strict no generator rule, no guns, no fire works, no amplified or loud music and again no assholes. Your neighbor may not like your music. If you must listen to music use head phones. Please do not leave any thing at the site when leaving and leave it better than you found it. The boat rental store sales snacks, ice and bait. It does not sell wood or large water bottles. Campers should bring water. We do not have showers but do have running hot and cold water in the change rooms at the boat rental. Port-a-pottys are near by. Please use them. Do not poop in the woods and leave your shit paper laying there. That's gross.

Downtown is 20ish minutes away, There is a mutiuse trail nearby that we spent quite a bit of time with our dogs. The camo space was clean, quiet and comfortable. We have three small dogs and had zero issues with places to walk on property. Business trip. Great hosts. Thanks y'all

This was EXACTLY what we needed, which was a secure quiet place to park our rig and sleep while doing stuff in Pittsburgh. Brian stopped by and was a cool guy. The yard had cool stuff for the kids to -look- at. To be clear, you aren’t staying for the destination and the listing is clear about that. But that said, if you are like us and actually like industrial lots and cool trucks and stuff, you might just hang out and enjoy yourself. Anyway would recommend 10/10. I’m sure we will be back because Pittsburgh is rad.

I had a great stay @Cliff Mine Heights. I was passing through town and needed a place to lay my head. I messaged Ian to see if this would be ok seeing it was last minute and he was extremely friendly and welcoming and assured me that it was no problem. Upon arrival he told me where I could park my vehicle for the evening. He later came over and introduced himself and also to some of his family. Just truly great kind people and Ian and I had some great conversation about camping, and truck setups, work. He was truly an Amazing Host and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend his place to stay. Thanks Ian and if I’m ever in town again I’ll surely look you up. Best of luck on all your endeavors.

Brian‘s location was perfect for us and he was very good at communicating where to park on his large lot. He provided electric, 110 V 20 A and there was water available at a Spicket to fill the tank if needed and also had a location to dump the black and gray water tanks. The lot was huge and very easy to maneuver around it was very convenient for us. I would recommend this location for anybody needing a spot to park their RV in the Pittsburgh area.

We loved camping at this spot so much! We have two small children with us, and the toddler loved checking out the pond and gazebo. The whole space is beautifully green; would recommend splurging a tiny bit for the site with the great view. The hosts are so wonderful, and they gave us some awesome recommendations for nearby National Parks. Such a blessing to meet them. Would definitely stay here again!

Brian’s land was ideal for my needs. Quiet and peaceful, and I felt very secure leaving my travel trailer while visiting Pittsburgh every day. It’s convenient for commuting to the city and very affordable. Brian himself was quick to respond and easy to communicate with (for instance, he was incredibly patient with my inability to find the sewer port and guided me right to it.) It’s no state park with tables and fire pits but it was absolutely perfect for my needs and I’ll definitely return next time I’m in the area to visit folks in PGH

The driveway is steep but thoroughly negotiable. At the top, is a large area where we were able easily to back our 25' travel trailer into the designated spot, and we were able to leave without backing and filling. HOWEVER, after we set up our trailer, it rolled back off the blocks the jack was on! It was only caught by the wheel chock behind one of the rear wheels! Had it kept going, it would have rolled down the hill in front of the house and onto the road below. BE SURE TO CHOCK YOUR WHEELS FIRST THING! The angle is NOT steep, but it was enough for this incident. Also, Cliff Mine Road seems to have a split personality: a mile from Ian's place is an intersection. Three roads come into that intersection. Each of the three are named Cliff Mine Road. Ian lives on Cliff Mine / Enlow Road! Be sure to include the Enlow in your GPS navigation tool! This all sounds serious. One does need to be aware of these two matters. But Ian and Kaitlin are wonderful, and the spot is very nice. Electricity only -- no water or sewer, but for one or two nights (we stayed two), it was excellent.

A very quiet location although alongside a road. An evening train or two can be a bit loud, but fairly brief. If you like small towns, Zelienople is 10 minutes away - fun, weekly events, shopping and great food options.

Weekend Trip to Cliff Mine Heights

Ian's HipCamp was the perfect place for us to stay while visiting a relative in Pittsburgh for a few days. The spot was near highway access and close to shopping and restaurants. We especially appreciated the asphalt driveway and the safe, peaceful neighborhood. Hookups were sufficient and grouped for easy access. The yard was spacious, and there was plenty of room to park when we unhitched from our travel trailer. Communications were timely and easy. We highly recommend this HipCamp!

I was in late and out early. This place is great for a traveler’s much needed R&R. It’s got all the basic provisions for recharge, refill, and discard trash. The gravel is level, the neighborhood is quiet, and if you’re facing east the sunrise is a can’t miss feature. Host is friendly, communicative and takes the time and effort to make this a great camp.
