Once an old homestead. Learn more about this land: Hello Hipcampers. We do NOT sell firewood. Bring your own. Please read the whole description and understand the car/trailer length limits before booking. 32' (thirty-two feet) means car and trailer, not just the trailer. Smaller trailers like the teardrops or fifteen footers can be backed in easily, but if you're over 32 feet with vehicle the space to maneuver is too small. Your camp site is under tall fir trees on fairly level ground. The site is next to a county road (see pictures), but traffic is very light. Next to your camp site is a 12x20 foot deck by a clear pond with beautiful trout and a running creek. A large picnic table is provided. It is a semi private location as the owners (us) also enjoy the pond and creek, and use the driveway. You can see the main house from the campsite but it's very quite. There is absolutely NO fishing allowed in the pond! The large trout in the pond are for your viewing enjoyment. 25cent fish food dispenser. There is a clean privy; it's not fancy but it works and we use it when we're working outdoors. We think you'll find it quite acceptable. It's only a few yards from your camp site. There is a fresh water spigot between the main house and the privy to fill water bottles or water for cooking. Just lift the handle for water to flow. Pour gray water in bushes away from the camp site. Hipcampers ARE WELCOME to walk our big garden. Simply walk past the privy, over the wooden bridge and through the white gate to see flower gardens, ponds, fruit trees, and berry bushes. We love to share our space with you, however, we ask that you limit your garden walk to one time so that your walking experience is balanced with our desire for privacy. Keep gates closed and stay out of sheep paddocks. Children: This is a wonderful and fun place for children, but the waterwheel and ponds deserve your attention. Keep children safely away from the waterwheel, and be next to them when viewing it. You must be diligent if your children don't have experience with open water. Please do not allow them to throw our landscaping rocks into the ponds as I have to dig them all out later. For some reason kids love to throw rocks into ponds! Just down the road only 100 yards, is a school playground with swings, basketball courts, tennis courts and a huge field to play on! So bring your frisbee, soccer ball or any other field toys. Don't leave food out at night! That could attract unwanted furry visitors. There is a healthy population of bear and cougar in this area. These animals generally stay away from humans, but you should carry a horn or bear spray when hiking in the woods of the Columbia Gorge. Go right to your camp site. We may come greet you when you arrive if we're home, but then leave you alone to your own peace and quiet. There is parking at the campsite for two vehicles side by side, or a car and trailer. We may accommodate a third vehicle with prearrangement. Camper Trailers: The driveway is circular, so you can pull in at either entrance, get out and take a look at how best to back your trailer into its spot. Live music at your campsite is an experience we offer. Great for kids!

When the fire ban is not in effect, feel free to bring your solo stove to enjoy the evening. No firepit is available onsite. A 0.1 mile hiking trail will lead you to a meadow with more flowers and views, so bring your chairs. A small bench is already in the meadow. There is a scrub oak woods that you will walk through, and intermittent creek that is dry in the summer and fall. Feel free to explore around! We often see deer and other wildlife on the property so bring your binoculars for your viewing pleasure. A compost toilet is available onsite, and and we will instructions for those who stay. There is an outdoor shower that is not currently up and running. Water is not available as of yet. so make sure to bring your own. A picnic table is now available to use. If you are feeling up for it, walk up the hill 3/4 mile (1,000 ft of gain) to the top of Stacker Butte for more views which include the Columbia River! This leads into the trail systems of Columbia Hills State Park. The property is located 15 minutes from Lyle,, 25 minutes to White Salmon, and less than 30 minutes from Hood River which offer groceries and other amenities. There is an observatory in Goldendale. Additionally, the east end of the Klickitat trail is less than a mile from the property that includes biking and hiking. The property has a steep shared driveway with 1154 Centerville Hwy, so please be respectful and drive slow and use 4WD if available.

All of the cabins are unique and special with different features to fit almost anyone's needs. All of the cabins feature new and very comfortable queen-sized beds, and all come with their own BBQ grill. Satellite television and free WiFi internet service is available to all guests in each unit. Rustic propane fire places have been installed in each cabin along with air conditioning units to make sure our guests are warm and cozy on the coldest winter nights as well as cool and comfortable on those hot summer days. Parking is ample within steps of each of the cabins and is more than big enough to fit snowmobile trailers, horse trailers, RVs, or any other toys you may want to bring along for your trip. Trout Lake Cozy Cabins was formerly known as Serenity's, named after the restaurant that sat on the property. The Restaurant burned down a number of years ago. Since the restaurant building was rebuilt, we have been excited to have Mt. Adams Pizza on our property for the last 4 years. There are also a number of places to eat within a mile of the cabins including Mount Adams Pizza, the Trout Lake Hall, Post Office Coffee, and the Station Cafe. The Mount Adams Ranger District is a great resource for additional information about the area and recreational activities. Of course, having grown up in the area, we are always happy to answer any questions you may have or provide you with a "local's" tip/suggestions. Don't be shy, we are very friendly people and will go out of our way to make sure you have a memorable stay with us!

We are blocking off the listing for the remainder of the season as the land is charred and unsuitable for camping. We hope to fix up the land to open again next spring. In the meantime, we so appreciate everyone's support and well wishes!!! **** We are new stewards and first-time homeowners of this serene, 10.5 acre homestead. 'Modern' human development on this land first began in old logging days in the early 1900s and old logging access road still runs through the center of our property. When we purchased this land in 2020, we knew we were investing in a real 'fixer-upper'. The original Buckminster Fuller geodome home was built back in the 1970s, and the outbuildings and garden spaces were later added on as the property changed hands over the decades. By the time we landed here, however, the home was in severe state of neglect. As we continue to care for and restore this home and land, we aim to use environmentally sustainable practices to minimize our impact on the land while upcycling, recycling, and re-using anything we can in the process! It will be an experience you won't forget, You will take in the unforgettable views at sunrise and sunset of Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier, Swale Canyon, and wind turbines on the east horizon. The property is perched on the north side of Stacker Butte at 2,200 ft. elevation and includes a large homesite that is carved out of the side of the mountain which is perfect for campers, vans, a teardrop, or a small trailer. A sandy tent site is now available. It can be breezy, but it often makes it pleasant depending on the time of year. When the fire ban is not in effect, feel free to bring your solo stove to enjoy the evening. No firepit is available onsite. A 0.1 mile hiking trail will lead you to a meadow with more flowers and views, so bring your chairs. A small bench is already in the meadow. There is a scrub oak woods that you will walk through, and intermittent creek that is dry in the summer and fall. Feel free to explore around! We often see deer and other wildlife on the property so bring your binoculars for your viewing pleasure. A compost toilet is available onsite, and and we will instructions for those who stay. There is an outdoor shower that is not currently up and running. Water is not available as of yet. so make sure to bring your own. A picnic table is now available to use. If you are feeling up for it, walk up the hill 3/4 mile (1,000 ft of gain) to the top of Stacker Butte for more views which include the Columbia River! This leads into the trail systems of Columbia Hills State Park. The property is located 15 minutes from Lyle,, 25 minutes to White Salmon, and less than 30 minutes from Hood River which offer groceries and other amenities. There is an observatory in Goldendale. Additionally, the east end of the Klickitat trail is less than a mile from the property that includes biking and hiking. The property has a steep shared driveway with 1154 Centerville Hwy, so please be respectful and drive slow and use 4WD if available.

1 night at Red Cloud Ranch

My wife and I only stayed one night in the “glamping pod with gorgeous views at Red Cloud Ranch” and the description and pictures are exactly as described on their Hipcamp listing. It was very cozy with a small heater and all the bedding you need. Shannon provided great directions and met us when we arrived, she was super nice and helpful. The drive to the property is pretty magical on a clear day with easterly views of Mt. Hood and cute black cows dotting the sides of their road. It wasn’t a problem for us but worth noting that there is 3-4 mile gravel and dirt road leading up to the property. Also, at the time of this review, there was no shower which we were aware of. If we were staying more than one night glamping, a shower would be a great addition. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay would definitely come back if we were in the area again!

Weekend Trip to Eight Four Eight Camp

Beautiful property with a nice mix of woods and clearings. Very quiet (you can hear road traffic occasionally, but it wasn't a big deal). There was one other camper on the property and I only saw them as they were leaving. There are lots of primitive trails to explore and looks like there's a frisbee golf course in the works. The private porta-potty was clean and it was nice to have a well-water spigot nearby. The only minor quibble was there seemed to be some trash in the camp sites. I picked up around my site and added a few other bits from the neighboring site. Wasn't terrible, but it was noticeable. Remember to pick up after yourselves. The burn ban was still in effect, so unfortunately no fires on this trip. Maybe next time. I'll plan on coming back later in the fall or early Spring. Overall, it was a great weekend, and I do recommend it!

We brought our little trailer and pulled up right to the platform area that was generous and size with a nice picnic table.. we had plenty of room in our campsite and the stargazing was amazing. It’s only 15 minutes outside of white salmon, making it a perfect home-base for activities that we wanted to do in the area. The host was super communicative and easy to deal with..

The yurt was perfect. Well appointed, had all the supplies we needed (minus coffee filters) and it was very peaceful. Having no cell service was a huge bonus too. We'll be there again for sure!
