Welcome to Sawdust FarmCamp! Located in Geneva, Ohio. We have four different sites to choose from: one tent site, two glamping tent sites, and one cabin.
New in 2026 propane heated hot water showers are now available for all guests located along the drive and a short hike from the sites.
Included with your stay a Nature Mindfulness Hike, where we find a deeper connection to nature and yourself is upon request. Contact host to schedule.
Need some additional relaxation? Book a Reiki Healing at the Jug House next to the pond for an extra fee. Reiki is a Japanese stress reduction and relaxation technique that promotes healing. Contact your host for availability before booking the extra.
We also have the option to book all our sites for a 15-person retreat, with special extras only available for that booking, including a pavilion teepee tent.
Portable toilets are available, pets are welcome, and campfires are permitted.
Naturalist Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976.
They then were published as the book “Letters From Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden.
In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers.
The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated.
We are proud to call Sawdust home and would love to share it with you.

Purchased by my grandfather back in 1953 it has been a diverse fruit farm for many years.
Currently we have almost 200 acres, a lot of it woods.
We don't currently grow the crops that we did but we have planted some wine grapes in the last several years.
As we also have a winery, The Winery at Spring Hill, we wanted to get some of our own grapes in the ground.
We have several places for tent camping and we have a large parking lot at the winery for RV parking.

Camping began ten years ago. We offer six shelters and nine primitive tent sites. We are incredibly close to the various trails located across the Cuyahoga Valley.
THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK!
1.WE DO NOT ALLOW FIREWOOD to be brought onto Heritage Farms property due to the potential risk to our crops and according to State and Federal Regulations. Firewood bundles may be purchased when making your reservations or upon arrival at the farm.
2. No vehicles may be driven into the camping area at any time.
3. All vehicles must remain in the designated parking lots
4. Campers are responsible for carrying their gear to their campsites—we provide wheeled carts for your use.
5. Ohio Primitive Camping licensing does not allow wheeled camping on Heritage Farms property.
6. Due to Summit County Health regulations, we cannot provide water. Please bring your own drinking and washing water. Or you may purchase 1-gallon jugs of water when you reserve your site or upon arrival. Our restrooms are porta Johns.
7. Tent sites (labeled A-J) have space for up to 3 tents. Shelter sites (numbered 1-6) have room for up to 2 additional tents. All sites are limited to a maximum of 6 campers
8. Heritage Farms is a working Farm. Please be aware that tractors and other machinery are in use during daylight hours
9. Check-in time is from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. If you’re arriving after 7:00 p.m., please let us know. Checkout time is 10:00 a.m. Please use the dumpster for all trash. Gray water stations are available for the disposal of used water.
10. Only campers registered to HipCamp are permitted to overnight on Heritage Farms property. We do not allow parties and underage or excessive use of alcohol at any time.
11. DOG POLICY: We welcome dogs who have received prior permission from the farm owners. A dog registration form including proof of rabies vaccination must be filled out upon arrival. Unvaccinated dogs are not permitted on the property. All dogs MUST always be on a leash and in the physical control of their owner(s). No pets may be left unattended at any time.

Including but not limited to the highway, Benetka Rd Covered Bridge is part of the driving trail, there is a cool off road park down that way has events as well vroomvroom, AND we have roosters, chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, rabbits, who knows what that noise was? If you are looking to only hear nature this is not the homestead to choose. Not far from all of the amazing Ashtabula attractions. Super close to harbor and cute small towns, wineries, fun local shops, and Lake Erie beaches. Short drive to Erie PA not far from NY boarder. Lots of online delivery to us options. Outhouse available but no electricity and no bath house yet. Ask about sapling adoption!!! Please ask us anything and everything tell us if you know something we love to learn and we are still learning about this wonderful piece of earth we are trying to survive on.

The farm is 8 flat acres that is made up of natural meadow, flower and heirloom vegetable farm. We are close to Lake Erie with its variety of water sports and nearby beach. Enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking. Search for beach glass on one of the many nearby beaches. Visit one of the many wonderful restaurants in the Harbor District. Come and enjoy the Beach Glass Festival in June, The Wine and Walleye Festival in July, The County Fair in August, The Covered Bridge Festival in October. Visit one of the many wineries throughout the county. Visit Geneva on the Lake with its many activities, bars, wineries and restaurants or play a round of put put golf. A full service golf course is just down the road from the farm. You can explore the local rivers, Ashtabula and Grand River. There are many smaller lakes close by to enjoy too. Ohio's Metro Park system is extensive in Ashtabula. Hike and explore to your heart's content. Love music? There is almost always live music around the county in the summer. We had a great time! We have trouble finding spots for winter camping and this space was great. We actually forgot our tent poles so the trip could have needed a lot of adapting- but with the access to the barn, we were able to set up inside. Facilities & amenities were clean & as described. Loved watching the animals in the morning and setting up my hammock back by the chickens. Allison was a fantastic host. Would absolutely stay here again!

Michael’s land is gorgeous and it was heaven to have it to ourselves. We especially loved the trails in the wooded area. There’s an awesome fire pit too. Looking forward to another opportunity to tent-camp there!

I had a great weekend of camping. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. The wood burning stove provided the perfect amount of warmth. I enjoyed the sounds of all the wildlife outside the doors. From the geese to the pack of howling coyotes, to all the farm animals in the area. Tim had the outside fire pit already set and the inside stove as well. He made sure we were stocked with more than enough wood for the weekend, and messaged me to make sure I still had enough wood. The outdoor porta potty was very clean and a very nice perk from our normal camping locations. It was also nice being able to let my dog run free all weekend. He enjoyed that very much. I highly recommend this site and will definitely be coming back here again!

Great spot located right by CVNP. We enjoyed the campfire and laughed every time a goat would remind us we weren’t alone by sneezing. Even though the sun set early and the cool fall air filled the night we had fun. The barn was a nice surprise and good location for a small party. Woke up in the middle of the night to pee (very clean port-a-potty) and the stars were so clear and bright!

We were warmly greeted by host with fire blazing in fire pit & woodstove! Plenty of firewood provided. Very appreciated on a cold evening in Nov! Beautiful site!!! Can’t say enough! Loved all of the lights, the pull down platform was great for our folding mattress, even a charging station for our phones, plenty of room for ourselves & our pups. The outhouse was convenient & clean. Felt very private. Highly recommend!

This land is BEAUTIFUL! Campsite J is definitely worth the trek. It was so peaceful and I got to see the best sunrises each morning. Everything was set up so nicely, directions were easy to follow, and it is so close to everything i wanted to do in Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Communication was timely and the check-in process was easy to follow. The site was as pictured, the firewood was stocked and good quality. Site G is better suited to a lounge hammock than a backpacking hammock or a smaller tent. We also attended pumpkin pandemonium while there. It was nice being able to go back and forth between activities and relaxing at the camp site.

The distance between each campsite is really special. There is a sense of privacy but also community. The proximity to Peninsula, OH and the Ohio Erie bike tour make it perfect for bikepacking. For those who Hammock camp, the trees are perfect.

We enjoyed our stay though we were late to arrive an early to depart for a meeting in a N.E. Cleveland suburb. It was easy to find in the dark and the goats were fun after breakfast. If you have children it would be especially nice. In our case, our Great Pyrenees enjoyed meeting new friends.

The Heritage Farms campsites are huge and private, and the property is really beautiful. We were there during their Pumpkin Pandemonium, which is a festive blast! Practically-speaking, the wagons to cart things out to the sites were very useful, and the outhouses were incredibly clean, with a hand santizer station outside. Instructions for entering/leaving the property and locating the sites were also very thorough, and easily navigable even though I arrived in pitch darkness.

The tent was lovely, and huge! There was beautiful lights around it, and the mattress was cozy. The surrounding land is beautiful and it is so peaceful. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get away for a bit!
