2 nights at Deer Haven Secluded Cabin
Deer Haven is a WONDERFUL property! Brent literally has just about everything you will need during your stay in the cabin. It is secluded, peaceful and clean! Every morning you walk outside to a picture perfect view. We caught and released some bass, bluegill and more out of the pond, the trails around the property have a clear path to walk through and the hot tub was very clean and relaxing. We throughly enjoyed our time here and we are already planning our next stay at Deer Haven!
A huge thank you to Brent and his cleaning crew for everything! We can’t wait to go back!

Great location… very clean… remote enough to be disconnected, but close enough to a gas station/convenient store/highway in case you need anything. Has everything you need. Above all are the owners Tom and Melissa. We originally booked to stay a few months ago, we showed up on the first day, but had to leave within an hour of arriving due to an accident my son had at home. We left immediately and left all of our luggage, coolers, clothes, etc. Not only did they refund our money, but Tom also loaded up all of our stuff and found a way to meet my dad a few days later to give him our things which was a huge help given the situation we were in at the time. It was a 3 hour drive for us and they split the drive with my dad to help. We appreciate them more than they will ever know for helping us during the worst time of our lives.

The glamping site and tent were perfect! Had everything we needed including cooking supplies, a gas stove top, towels, etc. Very clean and the bed was comfortable! Nice gas fire pit area, swings and hammock. Would definitely stay again.

This place is absolutely beautiful. They have made it a hikers paradise. Once settled, we were rewarded by a sunset through the Tulip Poplar and Oaks. The owners are incredibly welcoming and accommodating.
This was our first time “primitive” camping, so it offered some challenges, but the memories made with our kids were more than we could ever ask for. The owners have made the land an oasis worth exploring. We will absolutely be back!

Pine Cove is truly the most private and peaceful spot you could hope for. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Tom & Melissa have put so much thought, care, and attention into every detail of the property. Their directions were spot-on, making it easy to find, and the whole place feels beautifully planned out and well cared for. The setting is serene, with nature all around, and it’s only a short drive to Blue Rock State Park if you’re in the mood for a refreshing dip in the lake. The experience was incredibly calming from start to finish — the perfect escape to recharge and unwind.

This was a very private, but comfortable spot. It was a unique experience that allowed us to "camp" without lugging everything in- and get a good nights sleep. We had everything we needed. We walked the property, in the woods, and even the road- we were totally alone. This is placed on top of a ridgeline, and when on the road, the views are unbelievable. We really enjoyed our stay.

Our family had an amazing stay at Jellystone Park in Nelsonville. We close to the caves, the kids had endless things to do, the floating obstacle course and bounce float at the take were so much fun. The and beach area is beautiful and the pool was phenomenal! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Being fairly new to camping this was a great spot! Little over an hour away from Columbus and minutes from Athens. I’m familiar with the area due to being an OU alumni but wish I knew about this hidden gem sooner.
To get to the site there is a bit of a downhill that can be tough after heavy rainfall, so be careful!! We experienced slick conditions but managed. Site was private, serene and a great getaway from the city for a bit. Our pup Indy (Indiana Jones full name lol) had a blast exploring and being a dog.
Got to learn a bit of what happens at Tenderfoot Learning Labs as well and it’s awesome all the programming they have! Definitely on my return Hipcamp List! (Will have to try to other site out next).

We really enjoyed our stay at Tenderfoot, as soon as we hit camp everything was quiet and peaceful. One of the highlights was feeling like you’re in the woods without a long hike! The picnic table and fire pit were well constructed. We enjoyed the natural pit to a metal ring. Overall we really enjoyed this camp!
Things to consider:
It rained each day we were here which made it extremely difficult to carry our gear to and from the car because of the steep incline. There aren’t any steps so you really need to be careful in wet/muddy conditions. There are trails but we weren’t sure where they were so some type of marker/map would be helpful. I didn’t get service which made it challenging to message the host so I would suggest printing info before and scheduling when to drop off wood ahead of time. Also I would suggest bringing a way to keep wood dry like a leakproof tub, the tarp supplied let in a lot of moisture.

Excellent campsite near Athens and Lake Hope State Park. It was great chatting with Travis and learning about what they did at Tenderfoot. There are two sites on the property and we stayed at the larger one, called Deciduous Downtime. It was a short downhill walk from the parking area to the site. The site itself is surrounded by the woods and very peaceful. You don’t really see the house at all from there. One thing to point out though is the ground is not completely level across the site. We didn’t find it to be a deal breaker though. We had enough room for two tents and a big shelter that we could put over the picnic table. Note there is just one tent pad. The outhouse is clean and well kept and there’s lots of trails on the property to explore. We'd highly recommend staying here!

We had such a great experience while staying at Wild Pines. The hosts, Tom and Melissa, were fantastic. They made sure we had everything that we needed and we had the pleasure of talking to them multiple times during our stay. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my boyfriend’s birthday.
