Whether you prefer a secluded retreat or a communal gathering, rent a single spot or the entire 8 acres for your outing. We strive to create unforgettable experiences for our guests.
Throughout the year, our property is home to chickens, a cow , usually a few pigs, and a couple of dogs, offering a glimpse into rural life. Join us this weekend and gather around the fire pit for warmth and camaraderie. We provide 10-20 primitive sites tailored to your needs, from secluded spots to a communal area where multiple families can camp together and share stories around the fire. Each site includes picnic tables, fire pits, and trash pickup. We also offer firewood, but kindly request that you refrain from bringing wood from elsewhere to preserve the health of our woods for future visitors.
For your convenience, we have a small camp store stocked with essential items often forgotten at home. Additionally, children can enjoy our small playground while adults relax in nature. Whether you pitch a tent or hang your hammock from a tree, we welcome you with open arms. Don't have camping gear? Give us a call, as we offer tent and hammock rentals, along with various other amenities. If you prefer indoor accommodations, we have a camper ready for you.

Each site is in a wooded, shaded area with a flat area on the ground to place a single large tent. Each site has its own fire ring and a small wooden table. There is wood on the ground you may use for firewood, and ample twigs etc on the ground for kindling (do not cut any trees or branches off trees). There is a covered firewood shed with dry firewood as well. There are maintained trails with river access for kayaks. There are 2 porta potties near the campsites with a handwashing station, that is open year round. There is a single bathroom with flush toilet and sink with running water that is a short walk away (open May-Oct depending on weather) There is an outdoor on-demand hot-water shower at bathroom, with a water hose available as well. On-demand hot water heaters provide hotter water at a low water pressure, and cooler water at full blast.
We do provide a large trash bin near the porta potties for trash disposal. DO NOT throw trash into fire pits or burn barrels in the woods.
Campsites are a short walk (100-200 feet) away from parking area (you CANNOT drive directly to or park at your campsite). Foster Park is a short bike ride away where you will find greenway trails that run throughout Fort Wayne (ride your bike to downtown!!) Our property backs up to the St Mary's River, bring you kayaks and fishing poles!
(We reserve the right to assign you to a different (but equally beautiful) campsite in the case of property maintenance concerns, recent rain or weather conditions etc). All guests must be part of a registered group!

Our beautiful 1800’s cabin was moved to the property in the 1970’s by a former neighbor who owned the property at the time. The same neighbor also had a historic train depot moved to the property where she sold antiques out of for several years. It is not sure what the cabin was used for at that time but it certainly added charm to the antique store property. When we acquired the property years later, the cabin was in need of work. It sat for a few years until we decided to restore this lovely cabin back to it’s beautiful charm and character. Jim spent a couple years on the project working in his free time and added the porch using old wood in keeping with the natural look and feel of the cabin as well as some interior areas. Upon completion, we opened the cabin as a gift shop selling unique items including antiques, primitives and decor for a few years. We decided to transition the cabin into a place of retreat for traveling guests and still keep some of the goods we sold in the shop available for purchase. We hope that you find the cabin and property a place of peace and tranquility and will want to return. At Cabin and Company, you will be parked beside this beautiful cabin and will be allowed access at your leisure for a place to sit and relax. (No overnight sleeping allowed inside) Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea (provided) while watching tv or on our covered porch outside. You may also select a movie or two from our large selection of DVDs or find a book to read among our stash of books. Play cards, engage in one of the other games provided, or just sit in the quiet of it all and rest your mind. There is a golf chipping area as well as basketball. We have WIFI at our residence on the adjacent property and some areas of the camp will pick it up better than others. There is a fire ring on site with an adjustable grate for cooking and plenty of seasoned firewood available.. Marla was an amazing host from booking to arriving at location. She helped to upgrade me to the cabin as I wasn’t sure of the weather, then said hello & checked in w me when arriving.
The cabin was a comfortable site with more than enough amenities. This was one of the most beautiful campgrounds I’ve ever been to - with wild but nurtured nature surrounding and a short walk to the river. I felt safe being there on my own. Highly recommend!

Our stay was perfect. Lindsay and family were fantastic hosts and feels like we made friends during our stay as we connected right away.
The fifth wheel was great and provided all the room our family and pup needed during our stay. The master bed was great and didn’t feel like we were staying in a camper at all.
The location is very quiet and peaceful and gave us quick access to town for our stay.

The ac in the yurt was excellent as it was pretty humid due to some rain in the evening during our stay. Weekend Trip to The Firefly Nest
It was a very lovely property! Very private. There was a bit of highway noise but nothing that stopped our sleep. We didn’t get to do the full trail, since it was a bit messy from the weather-nobody’s fault on that! If you’re more adventurous and have good boots maybe you could do it after a huge week of rain.
The mattresses were good, and we slept fine but they are definitely more camping and less glamping mattresses.
The bathroom was very nice and clean. If you have an aversion to the taste of well water, be sure to bring your own. And be careful, the hot water is EXTREMELY hot.
We would definitely stay again if we’re in the area.

I’ve stayed at quite a few Hipcamps over the years, but this one stands out as my absolute favorite by far. The owners were thoughtful and responsive—communication was excellent.
They’ve created a special, idyllic spot that feels like a peaceful retreat. The highlight for me was the beautiful log cabin right on the grounds, nestled beside the RV and camping area. After a long drive from the West Coast, I spent three wonderful nights there and enjoyed every single moment. The setting is incredibly relaxing, with a calm, restorative vibe that made it easy to unwind and recharge.
If you’re looking for a Hipcamp that feels more like a personal sanctuary than just a campsite, this is the one. Highly recommend—thank you to the owners for such a memorable stay! I’ll definitely be back.

My mother and I spent her 79th birthday “glamping” in the Firefly Nest, which turned out to be only 10 minutes from our house in town. It ended up being unseasonably cold with rain showers, so it was a real treat to roll in and have everything ready for us - no tent to pitch, and the firewood already split and under a roof.
The rain cleared by supper time and we enjoyed the birdsong, the deer we spotted, and the rustling of leaves in this beautiful patch of woods… and the flush toilet, actual beds, and heater/fridge/lights were also quite welcome.
I’ll be recommending Tim’s place for out-of-town visitors who prefer an alternative to hotels, since it’s both closer to my house and offers more privacy than any of the Fort Wayne or New Haven hotels/motels.
