Established in 1983 on a 60-acre plot of land right in the Shawnee State Forest. The property is beautiful with flat land, fields, and at the back are the foot hills of the Appalachian Mountains. We put a horse farm on the land in 2000. The horses here are my family and I want to expand and offer more opportunities on the land. That's when I came across Hipcamp! This area was known by the Native Americans as "Pocatalico" (land of the fat doe), and first settled by Europeans around 1890. The property itself was first settled by a man named Mayford Jones, who set the first stones here around 1910. A Jenny Lynn style farmhouse was built and the property was known as one of the best developed farms in the area. Today, the forest has returned to what was once pasture land on the majority of the 100 acre plot, and a small but intensive sustainable forest farm has been taking shape since 2013 under the current host and occupant, who prefers the term "steward" rather than "owner".

This is a 12.5 acre mini farm. We have a garden, bee hive, 30 fruit trees, bamboo, hard wood trees, 4 wheeler trails, a pig, guinea fowl, chickens, ducks, turkeys, cats, and dogs. We are working on a site for a single meat cow too!
We have 2 sites, 1 is a trailer and 1 is a camping spot/cabin on top of our mountain. The cabin up there was built in the 60-70’s probably and is a total mess. People are welcome to stay in it if they choose. There is plenty of area for multiple tents near the cabin.
The trailer is a basic 1990’s trailer. Everything works in it. There is a furnace, 2 full size beds, a full kitchen and bath. There is a window AC for hot days.

This cabin is very remote and private. It offers beautiful scenery, an amazing deck view of the mountain side ,Wi-Fi, a 4 person hot tub, modern kitchen and bath, very comfortable couch and love seat, a queen sized bed, Wi-Fi and 60inch smart tv located in the living room above the fire place and one in the bedroom.

We are pet friendly $25 per night per pet you can pay those upon arrival

Bare Cove is a recreation lake with campsites. However, we are not your typical camp ground. We have no quiet hours, we do get loud and have a great time on the weekends. It’s not uncommon for beer pong or card games to go into the early hours. We are open to all ages and backgrounds, anybody that enjoys making friends and having fun on the lake. All guests must sign personal injury waivers to cover our 6.
So about the property, it’s 120+ acres with a 5 acre man made lake that features blue waters, a beach area and tikibar. We have atv trails, private camp sites and group sites. What a cool little place. Stanley and his family have something going for them. The cabin as your night time ambiance is great for any dark enthusiast. 4 German Shepherds for those lovers of the breed. Having the turkey as your white noice was a great experience. So many other cool city escapes scattered across their property (even pigs). Take out what you take in as always!

The cabin is a little small, but it comfortably housed my wife and I. Everything was very clean with all of the amenities that we needed for the weekend. A very nice spot for a weekend retreat for two people. There's also a huge stack of western and war DVDs if you want to check those out!

Roger was super nice and the trails he's got on the property are great! Loads of wildlife all over the place. Super knowledgeable about the local birds and just as a storm was rolling in, he rolled down the hill to come check on us.

We really loved the porch and deck:) perfect to sit outside, watch the sunrise and listen to the nature. What an amazing 4 day trip. We wished we could have stayed even longer! Only complaint was the grill was a little ify with no drip barrier between the flames and the propane tank from a safety stand point.. perfect get away!

We had a fantastic visit to Williams cabin and land! My dog had plenty of woods to explore and my fiancé and I had the peace and serenity we were looking for. The cabin was new and had most of what we needed. It was really pretty and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I took a bath in the big soak tub and that was probably the highlight of my long weekend. It was amazing. If I were giving stars, I would give 4.5/5. I can't give it a full 5 stars because it wasn't as advertised in a few ways. I believe that some pictures got mixed together for all of the cabins. I was expecting a hot tub and a picnic table on the deck. It was still beautiful and the stars were amazing in such a dark area. William was very kind and I felt comfortable being around him. He brought me wood in a frontloadet and only charged $10 for more than enough for the weekend. to He seems to be building 4 or 5 different things at once. It was a little dusty because of the gravel road, but I was expecting that. I had wished there was more access to walking trails. There may have been some, but they were not immediately obvious. So I guess my recommendation to the host would be to adding more information about the property. There was also no wifi. I personally didn't need it. My kid was with us. They suggested starlink would probably work there, so I suggest either not saying there is wifi or getting wifi that will actually work. Great trip, mostly.

It became a tradition to come too John and Julie at their site with friends! We love the commodity of the gazebo, the shade, the showers and the kitchen with all the convenience. It is always beautifully maintained and we always have such a great time. We rented the 3 sites and come with a group of friend. We had a great time and plan to come back before the winter!
