Including but not limited to the highway, Benetka Rd Covered Bridge is part of the driving trail, there is a cool off road park down that way has events as well vroomvroom, AND we have roosters, chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, rabbits, who knows what that noise was? If you are looking to only hear nature this is not the homestead to choose. Not far from all of the amazing Ashtabula attractions. Super close to harbor and cute small towns, wineries, fun local shops, and Lake Erie beaches. Short drive to Erie PA not far from NY boarder. Lots of online delivery to us options. Outhouse available but no electricity and no bath house yet. Ask about sapling adoption!!! Purchased by my grandfather back in 1953 it has been a diverse fruit farm for many years. Currently we have almost 200 acres, a lot of it woods. We don't currently grow the crops that we did but we have planted some wine grapes in the last several years. As we also have a winery, The Winery at Spring Hill, we wanted to get some of our own grapes in the ground. We have several places for tent camping and we have a large parking lot at the winery for RV parking. In the spring of 2024, we built and opened a fenced in dog park called the "Barking Lot". This is available for any of our guests at the winery or who are camping here. I did not experience the winery because I got there after close and left before open so cannot speak to that but host was easy to communicate with and the price was great. Road's a little busy but pretty quiet by 11. The highway can barely be heard in the distance. Very much enjoyed the presence of some nearby chatty killdeer who also kindly quieted down after dark.

What a unique HC site. Winery and event center wasn’t open the day we arrived, however, the assistant winemaker showed us around and we tasted some great wines. Large level grassy area with easy back-in parking for our 45’ rig. Our dogs enjoyed the “Barking Lot”, a very large fenced area with picnic tables for their parents. Very safe and quiet overnight stop.

What a beautiful site in a great location to explore the wineries, beaches and covered bridges! So close to many pristine, uncrowded beaches with gorgeous sunsets. The stars numbered in the zillions! Chris and Alan are superb hosts and rescued us when we forgot our corkscrew :-); we added on the breakfasts and they were sublime and creative. Coffee was ready early! Our dog loved exploring the lovely farm and enjoyed the biscuits. We will happily return next season and bring the rest of our family! Super romantic and so peaceful.

We arrived later in the evening but Alan was there to greet us. Super nice guy! He told us all about the farm and how he and Chris worked to bring it back to a more natural state. The grounds are lovely and well kept. The area for tent camping was well maintained with a nice firepit. Composting toilet was so nice to have and it was clean. It was nice to be able to hear owls and coyote at night. Would definitely come back here to stay when we are in the area. Thank you, Alan and Chris!

The place was amazing. We arrived at 8:30 in the evening and the store was closed. We found an employee who contacted the owner and they were kind enough to open the store for us. We bought wine, which was wonderful, and we also bought sparkling cider. All made at Spring Hill Winery...we camped, and in the morning, we used the bark park for our 6 yorkies. They loved it! Before we left to continue our journey, we ate at their restaurant. The food was great and the Alcoholic Ciders we bought were exceptional. We would definitely recommend this place for anyine who is looking for a place to camp.

A spot like Flannel Dog Farm is absolutely the reason I check out hip camps when traveling. Alan was an amazing host and his sourdough bread and cookies are amazing. I can't vouch for the dog biscuits but our pup Daisy gave them two paws up. Great spot to sit by a campfire and look at the stars. Highly, highly recommend.

My stay at Flannel Dog Farm was excellent. Alan & Chris were excellent hosts. The location was quiet and comfortable. I chose the additional “light” breakfast and was very pleased. I’d certainly stay again if the occasion presents.

Weekend Trip to Flannel Dog Farm

We spent one night at Alan & Chris’s bell tent and had the most wonderful time! The bell tent is cozy and durable (we stayed completely dry in a big storm). We enjoyed their specialty coffee and a delicious breakfast by them. Native plants, birds and their songs, and beautiful stars at night their property checks all of the boxes. We can’t wait to go back!
