This site is accessed via a short trail through the trees down a gentle, sloping hill, and finally by a short stairway, and as such it may not be easily accessible for campers with limited mobility. Located on the grounds of the Duckpond Pottery, The Quack Shack is a secluded treehouse perched along the banks of the French Broad River. The structure is an 8x10 A-frame that transforms via a hinged wall into an open-air cabana with a charming deck that affords spectacular views of the French Broad River and surrounding countryside. The interior of the Quack Shack, with its vaulted 11-foot ceiling and earthen plaster walls, provides a warm glow in a rainforest environment. It is furnished with a comfortable seating area surrounding a coffee table that can be easily converted to a full-size queen bed at night. On the outside deck are beach chairs and a chimenea available for use. The quack shack has electric power (1 outlet only). Welcome to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina! At approximately 3,455 feet elevation we enjoy mountain breezes all summer PLEASE DO NOT ‘photo book’! We ask guests to please read through the details BEFORE booking a site. For example: not all tent sites are park at sites. Some of our more secluded sites in the woods are far from bathrooms etc. Sites near the winery/bathrooms are not secluded and you can see/hear ‘people’. The ‘wildlife’ sites require parking in guest parking and a 5 minute walk. As of Jan 2025 we change to an age 13+ campground. No one under the age of thirteen years old is permitted to camp overnight. Younger children will still be permitted to visit the winery next door to the campground during open hours but must have an adult (18 years plus) with them at ALL times! Due to an incident that could have ended in tragedy we have a zero tolerance policy of unsupervised children. You will be asked to leave if your young child is unattended by an adult. During the summer months we often have free range chicken eggs and organic produce and herbs available for our campers. We are next to our own winery/cidery that features home brew wines and beer. We also offer sodas. Firewood is for sale. You may bring your own firewood as long as it’s not from out of state. We have a few primitive sites in our woods for those who love more seclusion and places to hang hammocks. Again, PLEASE read through all the descriptions of each particular site to make certain you choose the right fit for your camping needs. We offer Hiking/jogging trails at the campground with more trails on the nearby blue ridge parkway. We are just around the corner from the famous Emerald Village Mines and only a 5 minute drive to downtown Little Switzerland. We are also only a 5 minutes drive to the famous Diamondback scenic mountain road. Approximately 20 minutes drive to Crabtree Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our cantina next door at 539 blue ridge gem mine road is open for the season and serving home brew beers and small batch ciders for ages 21 and older. Photo ID required. Sodas available for purchase as well. We now have a well lit covered porch area and club house with free WiFi and available 24 hours to our campers. Note: absolutely no outside alcohol or underage alcohol consumption permitted on premises. Anyone not in compliance with North Carolina state laws and federal laws will be evicted from campgrounds without refunds. If the campgrounds happen to be under a burn ban please understand that we can’t and will not break the law for you! All campers must obey the burn ban if in effect or face possible penalties under state law! This is for your own safety as well. Anything sold by us may be legally consumed at your campsite and is covered under our winery ABC permit. Camp host can’t go to bed until all campers are checked in so no late night arrivals please! Thank you for your understanding. Adult horseback trail rides are available at nearby Springmaid Mountain Retreat. Maps provided to Springmaid Mountain. All minors must have ADULT supervision at all times at the winery next door (older siblings do not qualify as adult supervision). With farm animals and 140 acres of woods nearby and three deep ponds in those woods it can be a dangerous situation for young, unsupervised children. If we are babysitting your children to keep them out of danger or from damaging our property you’ll be asked to leave. We want everyone to be safe. Up to 2 dogs are allowed per campsite. Dogs Must remain on leash at all times and have proof of up to date rabies vaccination. We have chickens and horses on our mini farm so please keep dogs under control at all times. Also, please do not feed our chickens, horses or any of the wildlife on our property. It is the responsibility of our campers to check the weather conditions, noting any burn bans for the area or rain etc, looking at all the rules and property details, before booking is the campers responsibility. Please do not blame the host! HipCamp now offers rainy day insurance Watch for our special events like ghost story campfire tales/walk with local guest authors, mountain yoga, herbal remedies classes, trail treasure hunts with prizes, mushroom identification classes etc. Additional parking is available for added cars in the guest parking lot area if campers have no more room at their campsite for visitors or any extra cars. We have a hot/cold shower and modern style flush toilets available in large cargo container. We also now have free Starlink WiFi in the Cantina/clubhouse area and some of the closer tent sites. Our clubhouse stays open for campers 24/7 with a microwave available, games, television and comfortable seating areas. Note: The quarter mile of gravel drive is steep but I drive my two wheel drive car up and down it every day. However, if you have a vehicle that chugs and struggles up hills (older RV etc) you may find it a challenge. We are working on getting that section paved to help out the older RVs and buses. Note: The gray building and pond area is NOT our property. Please be respectful of our neighbors and the family that lives there. Do not wander around our neighbors pond /barn area. Thank you! All campers are expected to read and follow the HipCamp guidelines. This is not just a ‘business’, it is also a family home that we are graciously sharing with you for a small fee so we expect campers to respectful of our land, our neighbors and your fellow campers. Anyone who can’t show integrity, maturity and be responsible and respectful of this will be asked to leave and/or permanently banned from both the winery and our campgrounds. No fighting! This includes couples fighting. Settle it 'off property'. We are pretty mellow, yet take bad behavior and disrespect for others very seriously. Unsupervised children has been a huge problem lately and we simply won’t tolerate very young children wandering the woods, running across other folks campsites, deliberately damaging our property etc. It is up to the parents to fully supervise their children and keep them safe! Caught without a last minute hotel room and rather not park your family in Walmart lot? We offer car camping in our parking lot for $15.00 a night. You’ll have access to bathrooms and a hot shower! We also have tents, sleeping bags and camping mats for rent. Summer of 2025 will be our third year open and there have been many wonderful improvements! ❤️ We made it through Hurricane Helene with minimal damage and with the help of some kind volunteers we have some great updates!

Other things to note Note from a Guest: Great property for family, couple, or small group This unique farmhouse style home is a great choice for travelers and an excellent venue for gatherings by local residents. It has easy access but the property has abundant trees and is secluded from nearby roads and homes for privacy. The interior, baths, and kitchen are updated but maintain a pleasant farmhouse feel. The host had it perfectly clean and well stocked. It has a bonfire pit and a smaller fire pit for outside gatherings and the hot tub was immaculately clean, heated, and ready for use when we arrived. Kids can enjoy swings and slides. We used it for a small gathering where about a dozen guests gathered during the day and six spent the night. Could not have been happier with property or hosts. Fireworks are legal and permitted within reasonable hours. Horses are welcome.

Welcome to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina! At approximately 3,455 feet elevation we enjoy mountain breezes all summer PLEASE DO NOT ‘photo book’! We ask guests to please read through the details BEFORE booking a site. For example: not all tent sites are park at sites. Some of our more secluded sites in the woods are far from bathrooms etc. Sites near the winery/bathrooms are not secluded and you can see/hear ‘people’. The ‘wildlife’ sites require parking in guest parking and a 5 minute walk. As of Jan 2025 we change to an age 13+ campground. No one under the age of thirteen years old is permitted to camp overnight. Younger children will still be permitted to visit the winery next door to the campground during open hours but must have an adult (18 years plus) with them at ALL times! Due to an incident that could have ended in tragedy we have a zero tolerance policy of unsupervised children. You will be asked to leave if your young child is unattended by an adult. During the summer months we often have free range chicken eggs and organic produce and herbs available for our campers. We are next to our own winery/cidery that features home brew wines and beer. We also offer sodas. Firewood is for sale. You may bring your own firewood as long as it’s not from out of state. We have a few primitive sites in our woods for those who love more seclusion and places to hang hammocks. Again, PLEASE read through all the descriptions of each particular site to make certain you choose the right fit for your camping needs. We offer Hiking/jogging trails at the campground with more trails on the nearby blue ridge parkway. We are just around the corner from the famous Emerald Village Mines and only a 5 minute drive to downtown Little Switzerland. We are also only a 5 minutes drive to the famous Diamondback scenic mountain road. Approximately 20 minutes drive to Crabtree Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our cantina next door at 539 blue ridge gem mine road is open for the season and serving home brew beers and small batch ciders for ages 21 and older. Photo ID required. Sodas available for purchase as well. We now have a well lit covered porch area and club house with free WiFi and available 24 hours to our campers. Note: absolutely no outside alcohol or underage alcohol consumption permitted on premises. Anyone not in compliance with North Carolina state laws and federal laws will be evicted from campgrounds without refunds. If the campgrounds happen to be under a burn ban please understand that we can’t and will not break the law for you! All campers must obey the burn ban if in effect or face possible penalties under state law! This is for your own safety as well. Anything sold by us may be legally consumed at your campsite and is covered under our winery ABC permit. Camp host can’t go to bed until all campers are checked in so no late night arrivals please! Thank you for your understanding. Adult horseback trail rides are available at nearby Springmaid Mountain Retreat. Maps provided to Springmaid Mountain. All minors must have ADULT supervision at all times at the winery next door (older siblings do not qualify as adult supervision). With farm animals and 140 acres of woods nearby and three deep ponds in those woods it can be a dangerous situation for young, unsupervised children. If we are babysitting your children to keep them out of danger or from damaging our property you’ll be asked to leave. We want everyone to be safe. Up to 2 dogs are allowed per campsite. Dogs Must remain on leash at all times and have proof of up to date rabies vaccination. We have chickens and horses on our mini farm so please keep dogs under control at all times. Also, please do not feed our chickens, horses or any of the wildlife on our property. It is the responsibility of our campers to check the weather conditions, noting any burn bans for the area or rain etc, looking at all the rules and property details, before booking is the campers responsibility. Our clubhouse stays open for campers 24/7 with a microwave available, games, television and comfortable seating areas. Note: The quarter mile of gravel drive is steep but I drive my two wheel drive car up and down it every day. However, if you have a vehicle that chugs and struggles up hills (older RV etc) you may find it a challenge. We are working on getting that section paved to help out the older RVs and buses. Caught without a last minute hotel room and rather not park your family in Walmart lot? We offer car camping in our parking lot for $15.00 a night. You’ll have access to bathrooms and a hot shower! The kitchen includes hot water at the sink, an under-counter refrigerator and freezer, a dishwasher, induction cooktop, air fryer/toaster oven, and all your coffee and tea essentials. There’s also an outdoor grill area for your BBQ nights. An EV charger is included. The heated bathroom includes a large modern shower, bathroom vanity with a lighted mirror, toilet, and fresh towels. Sleeping arrangements include two separate lofts accessible by angled ladders. One loft has luxurious king bed and the other loft has two twin beds, all with premium linens. The spacious sectional on the main floor can also be used for sleeping, or you can unfold the comfortable queen floor bed. A smart TV is mounted inside the deck for your entertainment. Bringing friends or extra kiddos? No problem! There’s an outdoor tent pad area available for additional guests. Can I get a hot tub? Yes, you can! We’ve added a large private hot tub on the lower side of the deck, complete with a heater for those chilly fall and winter nights. We will be adding a polar plunge area by the branch for guests who want to cool off in style. Enjoy evenings by the outdoor fire pit, surrounded by nature and the soothing trickling sounds of the branch. Please note: The glamping deck sits on a shared driveway with neighbor traffic in the early morning and after school hours. While we love animals, this site is pet-free. Neighbors may occasionally walk their pets along the driveway in the afternoon or evening. We provide firewood, fresh-ground coffee and creamer, tea, cooking spices, all cookware, plates, bowls, and linens for your stay. Please bring your own tent if you’re hosting extra guests. I really enjoyed my stay here. It felt safe as a solo female camper and offered a lot of amenities that I wasn't expecting. There were complimentary hot dogs and chilli inside the club house, which was so nice and warm. A bathroom with toiletries in case you forget something and more drinks and snacks. The craft beer on tap was delicious and I even got a to go growler to take back to my campsite for a beer around my fire. The walking trails were nice and convenient to get to, with a view of the horses and the sounds of owls hooting as it got darker. I will definitely be coming back here with my kids, who will love the chickens and boardgames/outdoor games. Thank you for the experience!

Beautiful and serene space. Located 5 mins from the highway but tucked away in a perfect spot for optimal privacy, great views & a ton of space. My fiancé proposed to me right at the top of our campsite with the beautiful mountain views and river flowing in the back ground. This beautiful spot will always be a special place for us! Very kind and accommodating hosts as well. Farm animals to walk around and see. Definitely will be back!

I loved the small cabin #1 on Carrie and Tom's land. It was the perfect amount of space for two people. Tom was super friendly and made his rounds everyday to make sure we had everything we needed. The river was so close we could walk right down and fish. The grounds were well kept, clean and always kept warm in 20 degree low temps with plenty of heaters and an extra blanket to hang over our door for extra warmth. We will be coming back in the spring and summer and bringing friends for sure to enjoy with us! A+++++

We are frequent campers and this was our first Hipcamp booking. It has ruined us for all future campsites because it set the bar so high! My wife and I spent Thanksgiving (3 nights) here. This was an amazing property. We stayed in the camping/sheltered site with a HOT TUB !!, amazing views, fire ring, power. Everything we needed for enjoyable cold weather camping. And that heated bath house!!! Unreal, the detail and amenities. Second to none. The on property hiking was so enjoyable. Take a walk to Day Dreamer’s rock. Such a magical experience. We are already trying to find time to bring back the rest of the family. I can not recommend this site enough. We are looking forward to future trips to Indian Creek.

This campground was very easy to find and right off Rt. 26. Probably the quickest access we've ever had. The temps got cold, and David was great about warning that my water hose might freeze up. It was pretty quiet at the campground, I never got the chance to speak with any of the other campers. We were there visiting relatives for Thanksgiving and this fit the bill perfectly.

My husband and I just finished a fantastic six-night stay at The Deck, hosted by the incredibly thoughtful Nate and Stephani. We were looking for a true escape where we could stay put and minimize extra spending, and this glamping experience exceeded every expectation. ​The accommodation itself was perfect for a long stay. We brought plenty of food with us, and the house was stocked with everything we needed to cook and prepare meals daily. It truly felt like a home away from home, right down to the generous extras: we loved finding it fully stocked with coffee, hot chocolate, a variety of teas, and even some complimentary snacks. This thoughtful preparation made it so easy for us to stick to our plan of staying on-site and enjoying the quiet. ​The highlight, especially given the cold weather during our stay, was definitely the hot tub. It was heated to the absolute perfect temperature, making the cold air feel crisp and invigorating against the warm water. It was pure bliss, and the view from the deck was magnificent, day or night. ​Nate and Stephani are truly amazing hosts—they were completely helpful, considerate, and communicative throughout our whole visit. Their care is evident in every detail of The Deck. ​Overall, this was an absolutely amazing place to stay. If you are looking for a relaxing, luxurious, and fully self-sufficient getaway, look no further. We would wholeheartedly recommend it and would love to come back again!

I was looking for a place to disconnect and do a little writing and couple of days at Bill's Cabin did the trick. If you don't mind limited electricity and cell service as well as fetching your water from a spring, this rustic cabin is the perfect place to escape and enjoy some downtime. Hartwell was extremely accommodating and with a good sleeping bag, it was plenty warm in late November. Highly recommend!

Had a great time in cabin #2. This is a rustic cabin next to a stream. Waze GPS got us right to camp site. Tom the camp host greeted us shortly after we arrived and was so helpful on tips to keep cabin cozy. He also gave us a map and excellent directions to Dupont Forest. Camp restrooms/showers are a short walk from cabin. Port a potty even closer than restrooms. Camp ground has a good vibe. Front door didn't lock. Smore kit for extra fee was awesome, also some assorted snacks available. There is a small store nearby to get basics. No phone or internet service available at campground. Relax and unplug!

Our Hip Camp has a variety of sites from tent camping to small, heated "glamping" cabins. The location is rural and very quiet, about a 30min drive from downtown Asheville and 20 minutes from groceries and other restaurants. There is a small family owned bakery and many local farms and trails nearby. We are a 15min drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway and all of the beautiful scenic views provided year round. There is a short, steep trail on the property leading up to a bench perfect for solo reflection or admiring the wildlife and distant mountain range. The property is a hill sloping up from field to forest with a small creek running through that drains into a pond filled with koi fish. Our property is in the mountains so be prepared to walk up and down a hill/stairs. The shared bathroom, a small communal kitchen and infrared sauna are located in a separate heated building (Oak - at the bottom of the property).

Located on family land granted by King Charles in 1685 we have worked hard to restore and refurbish in a sustainable way, using the trees and supplies from the land that they sit on. Hand crafting doors and furniture the way the family did it 140 plus years ago. The history of this place is deep, even the nails for the cabin and farm house that is now the clubhouse were hand crafted by my great grandfather in his blacksmith shop, along with the wagon wheels, horse shoes, misc farm utensils etc... there was no running out to Lowes to pick up what was needed, it was made in the blacksmith shop. We like to give riding tours and talking about the mountain and its challenges. We named the park from the famous product that was created here during prohibition, Cherry Bounce Moonshine. You can visit some of the original still sites on the mountain, of course they are not operational today. About the adventure co side, We are an adrenaline pumping ATV and SXS park with 25+ miles of mountainous trails at four skill levels; Green (Easy), Blue (Challenging), Black Diamond (Very Difficult) and Double Black Diamond (Most Difficult). You can bring your own ATV or SXS or rent one of ours. We have cabins & camp sites that are accessed by ATV or SXS on the mountains as well as hiking or biking. We do not allow jeeps, trucks or dirt bike motorcycles on the mountain, just ATV's and SXS vehicles.

Our 2023 Rove Lite micro camper that sleeps 4 sits on a quiet, peaceful, easy in / out 6-acre property with gorgeous views from the foot of Celo Knob, adjacent to Mt. Mitchell (highest mountain in rhe eastern US) in the South Toe River valley. My property consists of a ridge running east to west with the access road running along the south border.  the land slopes up to the ridge for about 300 feet, and then down to the river for about 800 feet.  The south side of the ridge has a small pond close to the road.  The rest is pasture, and an orchard and small vineyard.  The north side of the ridge is old growth timber, and shady and cool.  The two cabins are along the river.  One is perched on a ridge over looking the river and the other is right on the river.  The swimming hole is 30 feet from the lower cabin.  There is room for a couple campsites along the river also.  The south side of the ridge was a cotton farm decades ago, but was covered in timber when I bought it 12 years ago.  The north side has been in timber for the known history of the property.
