The Jones Family owns and operates JCO (Juniper Creek Outfitters) since 2020. The Historic Pond dates back to 1773 where a grist mill, sawmill, general store, and blacksmith shop were established. The land was once our 6th Great Grandfather's and how Fountaintown was formed. The property consists of 84+ acres: 22-acre lake, swamps, creeks, and farmland. We are in a farming community. We take pride in stewardship of the land and waters to keep its natural beauty and help with keeping the balance of the ecosystem. Many animals call it home! (Heron, Ducks, Osprey, Turkey, deer, beaver, fish, and many other wildlife) We have a lake Cat named Tail. She may greet you! The Ponds are stocked with Bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and more. Catch and release. NC fishing license required.
JCO currently has 9 RV/Travel Trailer sites on main side that wrap around the lake. A Floating cabin and an A-frame Glamping cabin on main side. Across the lake we have 12 primitive tent sites that spread-out around the property. Views of lake and sunset, little pond, swamp and creek views. The lake is a Fishing lake. Kayaks and trolling boats are welcome. No gas motors. Upon booking we can send a local tourism guide for the area. We are only 50 minutes from the beach and coastal towns. Pet Friendly campsites. We cannot get over how great this place truly is! We love it a little more every time we go, and it has become our favorite home away from home. It must be said that it is always sad when we have to leave! However, our hosts are the absolute best and make you feel like long time friends. We love camping here. We’ve been twice so far. Once with our whole family last summer, and once recently. Both times have been exactly what we’ve needed. The area is beautiful and well maintained. The summer camping was so much fun for us and the kids. We enjoyed the river using tubes and swimming by the small beach area while camping near camp 9-10. Being able to camp at camp 1 this time was great for a more private feel.

The owners were awesome and kindly let us switch spots based on their recommendation. We enjoyed paddling around the lake and were comfortable with our site. The firewood is dry and ready to burn. Lots of wildlife around here, couldn’t recommend a better local spot!

The camp site was nice and spacious. A rake was provided which came in handy for laying down the tent. This is a very clean campground. Fishing in the Black River was great and you will catch different types of fish.

I absolutely loved my stay at Black River Camping Ventures! This is a gorgeous, pristine private family campground directly on the Black River. I camped here spur of the moment in the off season near the winter holidays. My tent site was immaculate, the check-in/out super easy, and my host Lisa made time to keep in good contact and to come by for a visit. The location is great for easy paddling access to the river. I originally planned a longer trek downstream and ended up just staying and exploring the ancient cypress swamps right around the campgrounds. Will definitely be back and I recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful time on the Black River! Thanks, Lisa!

Absolutely beautiful place. The pictures don't do it justice. Well spaced, generously sized sites, and clean, nicely maintained porta-john. The provided wipes are especially nice.

Yet again, another wonderful weekend at Black River Camping Ventures. I think this is my third Thanksgiving weekend in a row. And I will be back. The beauty of this area is breathtaking. I am more amazed each visit. Thanks as usual to Lisa and Eric for being the perfect hosts. They are always willing to help with any needs. For anyone camping this past weekend, I will hopefully see you next year!

We loved Black River Camping Ventures, it’s a most beautiful and serene landscape.
Right on the river the views are magical. Walking up to the point and watching the sunset was a breathtaking moment.
They have a lovely beach area to launch kayaks and some wonderful swamp and cypress areas to explore. Catfish in the river make fishing a fun time!
The camping areas are large and each feature a fire ring with swing over cooking grate, trash can and picnic table.
There are a couple of portable-John’s for use which are kept spotless. They even supply tissue, wipes and sanitizer!
Mrs Lisa and Mr Eric were absolutely wonderful hosts, and made sure we had everything we needed for a fabulous time.
We recommend very highly this camping site for fun family adventures.
