I live here full time, with two cats & 5 chickens whom are all free range. I live here in a double wide by myself, two outdoor cats. Deer, fox, rabbits, hawks and the like are common visitors. This is brand new to me, lots of improvements to be made in the future to make a guests stay even better, so for right now it’s bare bones. Can accommodate tents or certain campers. No pump out, no electricity or running water for “sites” yet, if ever, but running water is here and available for free. Additions to come soon: outdoor shower, available compost toilet available for rent while here, fresh herbs, vegetables, fresh local eggs, firewood, and covered gathering/ cooking area (not built yet) and much more, I’m really excited. Open to idea’s and options. No fireworks/ gunfire allowed at anytime, no “parties”, but gatherings, campfires, games and fun always welcome. I prefer meeting guests apon arrival to answer any questions and help all feel comfortable. I do have medical conditions that may prohibit it at times though.

As you arrive you are greeted by a cool white socked donkey!! And of course the two beautiful goats! Driving down the wooded lane you are directed towards your site under the pines. The 🔥 fire was so beautiful in the steel 3/8” pipe with the stars cut into it. It was such a welcome rest in the woods! Thank you so much Charlotte!!!🥰💕🥰💕🥰

Weekend Trip to The Fern Getaway

We had a wonderful stay! Everything felt thoughtfully planned and genuinely welcoming. The hosts were warm and attentive, and we loved meeting the animals on the property, including a momma cow and calf and several goats. It added to the charm of the stay. A wagon was provided at the parking area to help move our gear. Incredibly helpful! Clearly marked light paths through the woods made navigating after dark easy. The fire ring was set with enough wood for our first night, and the welcome note, trail mix, water, coffee, and kitchen items were generous, hospitable touches. The tent itself was beautifully done—tastefully decorated, cozy, and well equipped with everything we needed. The king-size bed was very comfortable, as were the feather pillows. A heater kept the tent warm despite nighttime temperatures in the 20s, though winter guests may want to bring an extra blanket (we were glad we did). We traveled with our two dogs. The off-leash freedom was especially appreciated—it made the experience even more relaxing for all of us. We highly recommend the breakfast option. Alissa prepared a healthy, delicious meal of bacon, eggs, bread with butter and jam, yogurt with fresh berries and toppings, and the best oats we’ve ever tasted. The only minor issue was the distance to the loo in the middle of the night, but it didn’t detract from an otherwise excellent stay. Weekend Trip to In the Pines RV and Cabin Village

We had another great stay in the cabins here! We were able to walk some of the trails on the property and were very happy with all the amenities in our cabin. This is a perfect spot for when we travel to the Wilmington area, but want to be out of the city. Love that the cabins are dog friendly too!

5 nights at The Rusty Spur

I spent a few days here in early December and just extended for the next month. It’s a charming, rural spot with full amenities at all sites, bathrooms including showers, washer and dryer. Pet friendly with trails to take my dog for a walk. Will and Lorie have been exceptionally kind and welcoming and came to check on me during a recent cold spell. Very safe and private. There’s a nearby mobile rv technician, Mike the RV Medic who helped me repair my furnace and was very professional. Very reasonable rates for everything being offered. I highly recommend!

We had a great stay in cabin 8! It was nice and warm on a chilly day, and had everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable and the space was very clean and decorated beautifully. This was a short trip, so we weren’t able to explore the property and amenities, but hope to return again soon and bring our dog!

I really enjoyed my stay here. Scott is a wonderful host. The site was easy to get into, very well taken care of, and private. The location is central & convenient to everything nearby. Weekend Trip to Charlotte's Whispering Pine Farm

Excellent stay! Beautiful space, very peaceful, short drive to Wilmington. Lots of fun little trails to walk our dog, who had the BEST time. Beautiful goats. Host keeps to themselves while still being very welcoming and warm. The compostable toilet area is as described. The free fire wood is great but I'm very glad they accept donations, the wood kept us warm and entertained with fires for our entire stay so we were happy to give a little back. Would definitely stay again.
