Troutman is a very quaint southern town very close to Mooresville, NC. It is smack in the middle of Charlotte and Hickory! So you can enjoy the mountains or the city or both from ONE LOCATION!! We are within driving distance to Lowe's Motor speedway and very close to many race teams located in Mooresville.
The downtown of Troutman is a short drive from your camp spot and there is a grocery store, drug store and many privately owned restaurants, including Italian, German and amazing fried chicken at Julia's! There is an ice cream parlor too!! Another wonderful asset to Troutman is Daveste' Vineyard where there is live music often, and of course wine tastings! This beautiful vineyard is less than 10 mins away.

****Did I mention that this stream empties into Lake Tillary, yep, that is right. We are within walking distance to Lake Tillary and less than 5 mins to the boat landing. You may bring your boat and park it here while you camp.
SPECIAL NOTE: There are animals here that you may pet once you have been properly introduced. You may bring your pets as long as they are vaccinated and behaved. If they fight with other animals or chase chickens or ducks you may want to test this upon your arrival. Unfortunately, you must keep them on leash at all times. Our County does have a leash law, and should property🌱🌹🌻🚜🚗📬🗑or animals🦌🐂🐏🐐🐰🦃🦆 be damaged or harmed you will be held responsible. For example, if your dog kills a chicken, you buy the chicken🐓🐔🐥. If they harm a horse🐎 or donkey🐴, you are responsible for ALL vet fees. Also, be aware we have coyotes, osprey, hawks, as any rural area does. Small animals must be suprevised. We are not responsible for acts of nature.
The barn is beautiful and you are welcome to take photos, however, you are NOT permitted in the barn without supervision. Absolutley NO smoking or fire near the barn. It is over 100 years old and built by my great grand family and is irreplaceable.
SPECIAL FEATURE:
As I am just beginning the camp on site experience I offer several options and additional services.
#1. Some find out after arriving that I teach NC Concealed Carry Handgun Classes. If you wish to participate in a class, it is preferred that you register before the day of the class. I will post classes on this site so that campers will know there will be shooting in the late afternoon. Some chose to camp on other weekends, some choose to go out to eat during those times, and some don't mind either way.
#2. I am also much in favor of work for camp site. Some have asked to do clean up or other small jobs for the priviledge to camp. So far this has worked out well, with one exception. Please do not accept an offer to take on a task that you do not know how to do. Example, pulling weeds or trimming if you do not know what a weed verses flower looks like. LOL
#3. There is plenty of firewood, see photos, here laying around and some trees down that will make great firewood (bring your own cutting tools.) We also sell firewood by the bundle.
#4. Being a camper here gives you the privilege of fresh veggies and fruits that are in season, as well as fresh free range eggs.
MAJOR POINT:
You must remember this is a working farm and our duties and responsibilities for the farm come first.
You must abide by the boundaries. *see map* The creek is the back boundary and should never be crossed onto my neighbors. I will not tolerate any disrespect to my neighbors, what so ever.
No! the roosters don't have an off button, neither does the jacka... donkey! When it is hay cutting time, we will cut hay. If you want to hike the property, feel free, know the boundaries and bring a machete to cut your way by the creek/stream in some areas. We have thistle trees and briars, you are welcome to cut all you wish as you go. There are spiders, bugs, and snakes etc. Black snakes, king snakes, runners, and whip snakes belong here and we ask that you do not kill them. Copperheads are here as qell and if you see one, come get me and I will dispatch it for you.

Update on Fire ban: I spoke with the forest ranger of Yadkin County, and You ARE allowed SMALL campfires for cooking and heating purposes only. No bonfires. Charcoal and propane grills are OK too.
Please respect our land by not bringing firewood from off-site and burning it here. We are a working farm that allows camping, not a campground. Our native trees and crops could easily be devastated by outside diseases or pests that are carried in firewood. We offer firewood for sale from our farm (delivered to your site for no additional fee). You do NOT have to purchase it prior to your arrival, and we have large tubs too!
Our STORE offers firewood, meats, eggs, Tallow, lard (both rendered right here!), drinks, Amish ice cream and jams/jellies/preserves, hammocks, hammock chairs, smoked dog bones, soaps (made right here), rentals of: cast iron cookware, a tent, Coleman stove, fishing poles, ... and MUCH MORE!
Please note that all our sites are reserved with a one vehicle limit. Some sites are large enough to accommodate additional vehicles but each additional vehicle will incur a $10 per night charge. Free parking for additional vehicles is located at the office/store.
Looking for a camping experience with a little luxury to boot? Look no further than our Oasis at Harmon Creek Farms! You can drive right up to most sites, weather permitting. Once roamed by Native Americans and now farmed by the same family for over 6 generations, Harmon Creek Farm is a working farm of over 160 acres. Peace, quiet, tranquility and privacy are overflowing along the creek, and hiking throughout the hills on the backside of the farm (and on the other side of the creek) leads to interesting and abundant flora and fauna. The stocked, spring fed pond is 'brimming" with angler challenges🎣

I took my 4 year old granddaughter camping here at Amy’s Pecan Tree Farm, we stayed 2 nights and she didn’t want to leave. We hung a hammock up, we played with magnetic sand, she chased after the wild bunnies. She loved the outside string lights. I felt very safe. It was so peaceful! I will stay here again next time I’m passing through.

We had a lovely weekend! My 30 foot travel trailer was perfectly level, easy to hook up. Water and Electric. At the close of the weekend I drove over to Lake Norman State Park to dump my tanks.
My friends came and set up their tent nearby. It was a quiet weekend, felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. And yet you’re close enough to Troutman if you want to go in for groceries or dinner. Or the nearby winery is a favorite place to go! Amy stopped by briefly just to welcome us! She was quick to communicate prior to the trip regarding any question I had. The rabbits and the birds kept us entertained all weekend.
Recommend this place! We’ll be back!

This is our 3rd trip to this fabulous location (see other reviews of Bent Creek). This place is very special to us, as its perfect for a quick get away, and you're so close to anything you may want/need to do. The host are top notch and feel almost like family to us now! Great place to stay! Easy access off of a secondary road. This is a full RV hookup and everything is very convienent. Doug met us (with fresh baked cookies!) after we had everything set up. He is a wealth of information on the area due to his family being on this land for more than 200 years. Very quiet and peaceful. Close by to a lot of activities. Check out historic town of Rockford and areas vineyards . We did tastings at Stony Knoll and Haze Gray vineyards and had dinner outside on the patio at the Harvest Grill at Shelton Vineyards.
We could not be happier with our stay and first time using Hipcamp.
Definitely will be returning to Bent Creek Farm!

Wow! Doug and Hannah were great. Doug welcomed us to their site with a loaf of banana bread. What a treat! This is the place if you want to be away from other campers. Nice view of meadow fields and old buildings from the original home place. Doug told us the story of the home place and how the land passed down through the generations while we sat by the fire pit. Plenty of firewood there and kindlin to get it started. Hannah came by about supper time with some brownies that were so good. This is the place to get away from it all. Very private and a beautiful location. Several wineries within just a few miles so don’t forget to see the hidden vineyards winery.

This is the 2nd time we've stayed on Hannah and Doug's property because we love everything about it. We will most definitely stay again if they'll have us. The views are so incredible that our feet are on the ground before the sun even rises because we don' want to miss a minute. We chose Hannah and Doug’s farm for our first trip in the new RV and so glad we did. Super quiet and tucked in around other farms and vineyards. Our 33’ Brinkley fit easily and were able to use the 50 amp electric and water. The road in is a bit tight but can be managed. If you’re heading that way, you’ll definitely enjoy their space.
