Weekend Trip to Sleep under the stars overlooking the mountains by babbling stream
Awesome spot!! Ample room for the dog to run around. The proximity of the river access was such a cool surprise! The weather was rather warm for November, so we could utilize the river. Super private. The wildlife/cattle are cool. Incredible stars at night. We had a bit of rain and a sort of crazy windstorm one night, but felt super secure in the structure. This is an ideal beginners “primitive” camping spot.

Great spot to camp. We loved the sound of the creek at night and the beautiful fall colors all around us. Allison came out to greet us when we arrived and was very hospitable. She had plenty of fire wood ready for us, chairs, a nice picnic table, lantern, a hanging bag of water for washing up and even a welcome bag full of local goodies and information. Plus internet connection! The kids enjoyed finding ways across the creek in the morning. We would highly recommend this to camp!

The location was far enough away from city lights and good for stargazing while also being an easy drive to Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. The area was large enough and had a fire pit to hang out by.

We loved our peaceful quiet 2 night stay. The host Mike was just up the hill and was very friendly and helpful in providing trail maps and plenty of firewood during our stay. Even had a special treat ... Also saw a bald eagle roosting in one of the tall trees on the property for almost an hour and the morning before we left. It was real nice. Would definitely go again

Lovely place to camp. Very private and peaceful with the creek nearby. Hard to beat for a small group of campers looking to have their own space. Plenty of firewood was provided, a few extra chairs, and the A frame with the deck was oh so cute! There was plenty of room for a few tents. We didn’t use the grill. The toilet was a 5 gallon Lowe’s bucket with wood chips - primitive, but gets the job done!
Not sure if this is an every night occurrence, but the cows in the nearby pasture were relatively noisy and interestingly never stopped moo-ing all night long. Wasn’t necessarily a bad thing for us (we kind of enjoyed it) but it wasn’t all that quiet.
The stars were lovely on a clear night with no moon, though the nearby farms did contribute to some light pollution (understandably) so it wasn’t quite as dark as we were hoping for.
We will definitely be back!

This was one of our best experiences through hipcamp. The site is private, beautiful property, great communication. Allison went above and beyond to accommodate us. We were traveling with our 2 young kids- she brought clay for my 4 year old to play with. We stayed several days and she checked in occasionally to see if we needed anything. It was a great stay all around, I'd absolutely recommend this site!

Lovely creekside campsite in a rural area. Semi-private, located at the end of their driveway and off the road with little traffic. We were grateful that our dogs could be off-leash but still kept a good eye on them. Allison provided great directions and was a lovely host. They are working on making the site even better with amenities. No cell service but the wifi from their home is usable in spots and appreciated in case of emergency. No bugs at this time of year and weather was lovely - we did get a pop-up storm but the weather changes fast in the mountainous area. Allison and her family were great hosts and it was a peaceful weekend. Would definitely stay again!

Our time on Richies land was tranquil and fun! The A frame was perfect and offered great views of the mountains in the distance and animals in the pasture. The stream was beautiful and a welcome break from the heat. Everything you need is offered on the site! Great host, definitely recommended!

Such a cool spot to camp! Very private and peaceful. Loved sitting on the deck at night and looking at all the stars. Our dogs absolutely loved running around and playing/swimming in the creek (we enjoyed cooling off in it ourselves!). Waking up to a field of cows and horses next to us was pretty cool, too, and we even saw a calf and mini horse. Just a heads up, be prepared for lots of dirt/dust around the a-frame from the tilled-up ground - our dogs had a blast in it and brought a lot into the tent haha! Host directions and communication were great. Highly recommend this site - would definitely stay again when in the area!

Staying at Camp Cressy Creek was a great experience! Allison and her husband were warm, communicative, helpful and generous during our stay. There site was perfect for our van, it was flat, easy to get in and out of, private, and peaceful. The sound of the babbling creek next to the site was lovely as was the well maintained fire ring with free seasoned firewood.
Allison left us a welcome gift of samples of some of her natural soap and body products, which are equally as lovely. Highly recommend if you are in the area! Just be sure to download maps ahead of time as cell service in the area is spotty- Camp Cressy Creek has free available wifi for when you are on site.

Richie has an amazing spot! They had an airmattress on stand by (needed if for night 2 haha), wood for a fire, a few hammocks, propane grill, little river spots to wade and the incredible cows and horses to watch. the A-frame looks amazing with its porch additions. Plenty of shady spots to hide form afternoon sun. Thanks Richie!

Service is nonexistent. They do have WiFi to offset that.
We traveled with 2 pups and they enjoyed splashing in the creek!

What a delightful spot for RVers and tenters alike.
Allison is a lovely hostess who really cares about the people who come to camp there. The easy in and easy out of her drive-thru area is just fabulous.
The creek creates a delightful ambience for sleeping. When they finish putting in the full hookup it'll be a place that people are scrambling to be able to stay during the summer months. Highly recommended!
