Tucked quietly along the edge of Hanging Rock State Park near the Tory’s Den access, this primitive campsite at 1140 Tomahawk Rd, Westfield, NC puts you right at the doorstep of Moore’s Knob and Moore’s Wall. From the Tory’s Den parking lot, you’ll follow Tory’s Den Road all the way up a rugged dirt road to reach the property. The last stretch is rough and narrow in spots, so you’ll want to be comfortable on mountain dirt roads and ideally have 4WD with some clearance.
When you arrive, a roundabout dirt driveway opens into a private clearing with a 20' x 20' flat pad—perfect for tent camping or a small overland setup. The land was recently cleared, so it still has a raw, backcountry feel: expect stumps, roots, and uneven ground around the main flat pad, not a manicured campground. It’s quiet, heavily wooded, and feels like your own little slice of the Sauratown Mountains.
The real magic is the access: it’s roughly a 200-yard walk through the woods to reach Moore’s Knob Trail, and you’re less than a mile from the base of Moore’s Wall, with all of Hanging Rock’s views, rock outcrops, and classic hiking right at hand. Wake up, brew coffee, and you can be on the trail to Moore’s Knob in minutes without ever getting back in your vehicle.
On the property there is an old, abandoned cabin from a previous era. It is not safe or usable—for your safety and liability reasons, do not enter or touch the cabin or attempt to explore inside. Treat it like a posted structure and enjoy it only as part of the scenery.

The vintage camper was located in a quiet, peaceful location. It has the quaintness expected with a camper of this period. We enjoyed the privacy and the open space surrounding it. The soft chicken and rooster noise was welcome. The owner was quick to respond to any issues and quite kind as well as thoughtful. We were practically within Hanging Rock State Park so this camper stay made it easy for us to explore but still have a comfortable place to return.

Lois and Mike's spot was just as described!!!! The view is gorgeous! We couldn't believe how big the spot was, and we had it all to ourselves! The sunsets were beautiful and the star gazing was incredible. We had a clear night both nights and the stars were all out!!! We are already trying to plan another trip. You will not be disappointed with this site!!!!

The Rocky Knoll is a beautiful little spot with an amazing view! Easy to access with additional seating provided, a lovely fire pit, and a well leveled tent pad. My dogs and I had a great time and the hosts were amazing! My battery ended up dying in my car the second night and they quickly helped me resolve the issue. I can’t wait to go back when it gets warm again. Thank you both so much!

Excellent site! The view is very nice, it's laid out well. They have a lot of accommodations there that were nice to see for people that come less-prepared. the view is very nice and it is a nice cozy place! The "poop shed" is also, really nice. It's not just a port-a-john, they put proper care and attention into making it enjoyable to use! Will almost certainly be booking again in the future!

We absolutely loved camping at Infinity Acres! We were a party of 7. 4 adults and 1 kid in our 27ft class C RV, and then 1 adult and 2 kids in a tent. There was plenty of space for camping and hanging out, enjoying the fire pit. We cooked 3 meals over the fire, including some Bass that we caught in the lake! We are novice fisherman, so Rick even helped the kids getting the poles set up and giving advice on bait.
Our RV is a 27ft Minnie Winnie, 13ft clearance, and barely fit into the spot. Laura came to greet us and we actually had to trim a couple of branches to be able to fit, but she was kind and helpful and we made it work no problem.
The kids absolutely loved watching all of the animals. We took a few hikes through the woods and made our way to "Narnia". And the fishing pond was great. Our oldest son caught his biggest fish!
The views were great, so much foliage, and the property sits atop a hill so you've got quite a bit of visibility.
We will absolutely stay here again, both kids and adults had a great time at Laura's place!

Weekend Trip to Vintage Camper @ Hanging Rock
Very cute vintage camper in prime location to Hanging Rock and Pilot Mtn. It was perfect for my first solo camping trip and had all the necessities for ease rather than tent camping, plus extra sweet gifts from Bridgette including fresh eggs from her chickens. Will absolutely be back for another quiet nature getaway!

If this spot is available, stop reading and go book now! My partner and I camped here in October with our two dogs and had a great stay! Lois and Mike have thought of everything.
The site is easy to find in the dark and the road is well maintained. The tent area is level and there is ample seating. They supplied tons of firewood as well as a grate/hot dog stick for cooking over the fire. We really appreciated they also left a shovel/water to ensure fires are fully put out. The site is really private and the views are awesome. The only downside was a bit of animal noise at night (dogs, owls, and maybe a donkey) - our reactive dog struggled a bit at first but way less than at other sites we've stayed. We didn't use the poop shed but peaked our heads in and it was immaculately clean.
It's about 25 minutes to Hanging Rock and Pilot Mountain State Parks. Buffalo Creek Farm nearby has great ice cream! Highly recommend!

This place is great!! Set up very thoughtfully. Tons of firewood available and the directions were easy. Having a landmark next to the site was great for after dusk driving in. The views are the best part of the site. We did both state parks which were close, and even stopped at a taphouse and an ice cream shop on the Main Street. As mentioned in the host notes and other reviews, there are a few bugs (harmless spiders and ants) and we got a late night visitor while in the tent, likely a larger deer or buck. Just ensure your belongings/snacks are safe. Nearby properties had dogs but I slept through after all the hiking! I would highly recommend this site.

Great site! Beautiful, big, and private. The picnic table was huge and the fire pit was big and really nice. The best part was the TONS of complementary firewood. One of their dogs hung out with us and our dogs for a few hours before it got dark. There are also 2 barn kittens that hung out with us all night lol.
Dayla and Denae were very sweet and generous hosts. We can't wait to go back!

Our campsite was absolutely beautiful — the views of Hanging Rock from our site were priceless. We caught both sunrise and sunset right from our spot, and each was stunning.
There was plenty of space to spread out, and the amenities were perfect: firewood provided, picnic tables, chairs, a few jugs of water for washing hands and dishes, and a great fire pit with a grate. The trees were perfectly situated for multiple hammocks, which made for the ultimate relaxation setup. The site was close to tons of hiking trails, and the natural sounds — birds, frogs, and crickets — just added to the vibe. Exactly what you’d expect (and hope for!) in a true outdoor setting. We loved our stay and can’t wait to return!

It was a beautiful scenic spot, very private but not isolate to where you were would be concerned with any dangerous wildlife. We heard a train passing by the nearby mountain at midnight and we thought that was pretty cool! Wonderful place would stay again and plan to !

Loved the excluded feel with an amazing view! Several things I’d like to point out: easy directions to follow and find. Loved the cleanliness of the port-a-john and what they supplied inside, including a light! Loved the painted rocks with little reminders/sayings on them as well as the figurines. Loved the seating arrangements and the sandy pad for the tent. Having a circle drive to get in and out was very smart, too! The access to firewood was a relief so that I didn’t have to bring several bundles that take up a lot of room during travel. Overall, the view. Wow. Beautiful sunset and sunrise! I will return!
