This land was once all pasture for grazing animals. We moved to Delaware County in November 2018 to start our family and pursue dreams of working on the land. The initial idea was to find a place we could live, garden, and raise a few animals while hosting guests and sharing the land with visitors. When we found this place on Williams Road, we loved the mix of rural and proximity to a thriving country town. We now have two kids and enjoy living in Delhi so much we hardly leave the town limits! There are wonderful restaurants, a great year-round farmers market, grocery stores, and many other services and amenities you can find listed towards the end of this guide. Our Catskill Mountain home is situated on a historic early 19th century farm site. Parts of the house might be more than 190 years old! With several additions and upgrades we think the house has lots of charm and enjoy the many modern touches. The property is overgrown pastures and a few steeper slopes with medium growth trees. After the industrial period saw this region nearly deforested, the land was granted to settlers who cleared fields and planted grass. Our immediate vicinity was knows for it’s cattle (Bovina), mostly for diary, and sheep. The agriculture in Delaware County has been on a decline since the advent of rail shipping opened New York City markets to farms in less challenging geographies. Construction of the NYC fresh water system (DEP Watershed) may have contributed to this decline, but about 60-70 years ago the majority of pastures, especially less productive parcels were abandoned to the “weed trees”. These first succession trees grew quickly in the sunny meadows and covered the hills; trees such as Ash, Hawthorn, and Norway Spruce. Fences and barns were left to return to the earth. On our property the stone walls that boarder the fields are the most stark reminder of the intensive agriculture practiced here.

Welcome to Trails Head Cabin! Fully renovated a couple of years ago, this quaint and rustic cabin has reclaimed barn wood doors and accent walls hand built by my husband, Rich. The cabin is located on a quiet dead end road, this cabin sits at the head of the Neversink River unique area and offers activities such as hiking, fishing and hunting. There are a variety of bars and restaurants located in the small town of Rock Hill, as well as our local Farmer's Market every Saturday only during the summer months. The cabin is a short trip away from the local grocery store, a five minute drive to Resorts World Casino and Holiday Mountain Ski and Fun Park. A twenty-five minute drive to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (sight of the 1969 Woodstock Festival). OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE: Please respect our non-smoking policy. There is absolutely NO smoking of any kind allowed in the cabin. A $200 charge will be applied if you do smoke inside to cover the additional cleaning costs. No Drugs or illegal activity. No Smoking or vaping. No incense or candles. We always like our guests to know ahead of time that there is mild to moderate vehicle and foot traffic near the hiking trails during the day. As this location has become more and more popular, the individuals who come to hike, bike, fish, hunt, etc. are required to parallel park their cars on the opposite side of the road. However, our property is private and clearly posted, and may only be used by our guests. The cell phone service is very weak when you first arrive at the cabin however, once you are connected to the WiFi you should have capability to call and text. Primitive Camp on the Esopus Creek in the Big Indian-Oliverea Valley surrounded by seven 3500' Catskill High Peaks including Slide Mountain, the tallest in the Catskills. Our PRIVATE camp (no other campers) is situated on 100 acres of land in the middle of the Catskill State Park. We are the closest HipCamp site to Slide Mountain, the Catskills tallest peak at 4180 feet. A perfect base camp for some of the best hiking in the Catskills, the site is bordered by Forever Wild Forest and is minutes from the trailheads to Balsam, Giant Ledge, Panther, Big Indian, Slide Mountain and dozens more peaks within 30 minutes or so away. Though the base fee covers up to 4 campers, the site accommodates up to 14 campers. The additional fee is $20.00/per camper per night on top of the base fee. Our drive up camp has a 10X12 covered tent platform, several individual tent sites with private fire rings, as well as a bunkhouse and a leanto for day use. The camp table and cook pit are covered from the elements. For toilet use, we have a CleanWaste loo which is a 5 gal bucket in a toilet seat box. You lift the lid, place a CleanWaste bag in the bucket which has a kitty litter like powder called Poo Powder in it. You do your business, the powder absorbs all the odor and gels all the matter. When done, you lift the seat, take out the bag, tie it up and throw it in the trash. There are camp rules about how to handle trash, recycling, and compost so as to minimize the possibility of black bear visits. Follow those rules so as to avoid a penalty fees of $50.00 if trash, recycling, and compost are not followed. A detailed message about trash, recycling, and compost practice will be sent to campers days before the booked trip. Seasoned bundled 16" firewood is available by honor box cash payment on Brown rd across the camp entry road.

A great lil spot/getaway from the city to reconnect with nature! My pup Pigeon and I were warmly welcomed by both Robin and Shirley and felt safe as can be. After scouring the town for a camping chair (practically heckled out of Home Depot since it’s “off season”..lol) Shirley was kind enough to lend us one that had me cozied up to the fire in no time! Felt at ease throughout the night, albeit some road noise, overall very much enjoyed our little romp. Would recommend!

Staying with Amanda was awesome! Easy to get to, clear instructions, and the campsite was everything we needed. Firewood was included, there was composting and even a water dispenser already set up at the site. Everything was clean and easy to put right back how it was when it was found. This place is the best! We spent an October weekend here with our dog, and it was a wonderful experience. We lucked out that the moon was nearing new, so the stars were incredible! The creek is absolutely beautiful and right by the camp, so you can fall asleep to the sounds of the river running. The grounds were perfect for our dog to explore while we sat by the river and read books. If you like to cook over the fire, there is a separate pit with a grate for you to use. Pierre was a warm and welcoming host and was readily available when we had any questions. Highly recommended! We hope to come back in the summer and swim in the creek!

Our night spent at Quentin’s treehouse was beyond phenomenal. Pictures don’t do the treehouse and the view justice and Quentin truly went above and beyond as a host! From helping us start a fire to coffee in the morning, to the thoughtfully available items such as an extra sleeping bag and cookware on site, I can’t recommend this Hipcamp enough. Without a doubt my favorite I’ve ever stayed at!

After reading the reviews and seeing the pictures, I wanted to have a one night getaway here for my birthday. Little did I know it would turn into something beautiful. My boyfriend and I booked this place a few months ago, and as a surprise, my bf had contacted Quentin about setting up a romantic evening for when we got there. Quentin was beyond accommodating! It turned out he would be out of town so he had his friend help out, which was super sweet! When we got there, it was magical! They setup the fire pit, candles everywhere, rose petals, they had a clawfoot tub converted into a hot tub out by the lake, a little table with chairs on the deck, wine, sparkling water - it was beyond. Thank you so much Quentin and Bridget for setting up the most amazing getaway for us! It was our first getaway as a couple and we couldn’t be more grateful for your hospitality and thoughtfulness. Weekend Trip to Quentins Treehouse

My girlfriend and I stumbled upon Quentins Treehouse a couple months back, we knew it was the getaway we desired. She obviously knew about the trip, but what she didnt know, was behind the scenes, Quentin and his friend Birgit assisted me in making the time much more than just a getaway, that made a memory for my girlfriend and I to remember for the rest of our lives. From filling up a tub with flowers and a fire underneath, to a bottle of wine and lighting up the dock. I could have asked for a better experience to celebrate my girlfriend on her birthday. We highly recommend Quentins Treehouse to anyone. He can turn the stay from just a night getaway, to a romantic abode on the lake side. Thank you again. We will return some day.

We had an amazing stay in Quentin’s treehouse. We arrived late but the instructions for arrival were clear and we found ourselves at a beautiful star lit lake. The treehouse was so cozy and we loved the hanging bed. Quentin was so friendly and it was wonderful to chat. We were also so excited about the paddle boards and got to explore the lake. Overall a beautiful experience and we hope to come back.

Where to go

North of Town

The trailhead for Overlook Mountain begins around 10 minutes from Woodstock. The moderate loop takes about three hours and leads to several overlooks, including a fire tower with 360-degree views and a ruined 1930s hotel, which offer sweeping views of the Hudson Valley and Catskills.

South of Town

A 10-minute drive south of Woodstock, a gentle stroll along the Ashokan Reservoir’s two-mile-long, paved walkway offers stellar views of the Catskill Mountains and the chance to spot bald eagles and deer.

Sloan Gorge

Ten minutes northeast, Sloan Gorge Preserve offers an interpretive geology trail that leads past various Ice Age geologies, as well as creeks, quarries, and cliffs.

Haines Falls

A 30-minute drive north of Woodstock, Haines Falls is gateway to several sites of natural beauty, including the very popular, 231-foot Kaaterskill Falls, the state’s highest waterfall. The small hamlet itself is a pleasant place to visit for its handful of restaurants and antique stores, and just to the north, the Catskill Forest Preserve’s North-South Lake Campground offers access to hiking trails and swimming beaches.

With its promise of long, sunny days ideal for enjoying the trails, waterfalls, and great outdoors, summer is by far the most popular time of year to visit Woodstock and the surrounding area. However, the season can bring crowds and booked-up campsites, so try to make reservations far in advance. September and October can also get busy with visitors arriving to see fall foliage.
