Due to the colder weather, and lack of sunlight, we will be shutting down for the season. Welcome to The Record Room! Our property has a vast collection of vintage, classic, and current vinyl albums that play solely from solar power. Its audio system delivers sound on the inside and out for a campfire mood that can't be beaten. The Monguap River is close enough to be seen and heard from the cabin, but the adventure of getting there is half the fun! The Delaware River is only 2 miles from our location, and River rafting is a big business around here. A small artesian-fed creek runs right next to the cabin. It lends to the relaxing sounds of water with many quaint spots for you to dip your toes into, paired with a wood-fired tub that feeds off of the stream, which can only be explained by experience (weather-dependent). Our hot tub also pairs beautifully with our newest addition to the cabin, our sauna! Perfect for a cold plunge afterwards (more information in the add-on description)! A queen temper-pedic bed and super comfy overstuffed futon will assure a good night's slumber. The Record Room's covered outdoor kitchen is designed to extend the awesome vibes into every meal.. (I.E., Flat top grill, single burner, and stainless grate grill all powered by propane, cast iron frying pans, and utensils). Our outhouse is designed and maintained by the women of the family, and great pride is taken in making it a favorable experience. A small wood stove heats the Record Room on chilly mornings and nights. If you're looking for the fine line between camping and glamping, this is your place! We recommend having some prior camping expertise, and we must mention that there is no WiFi/ service. We have a few spots available for your friend circle to pitch a tent and enjoy the experience with you! A basic convenience store can be located three miles to the right of our property with all your basic needs (including gas). For your grocery shopping, a small family-owned market can be found within 10 minutes up the road. If you're looking for activities, there are plenty of rafting/canoeing/kayaking companies for your enjoyment. the locals know our street because of the indigenous people and early Dutch settlers mixing with the slaves. Much history here, with the small town of stone houses, making Hurley a national historic destination. This serene is secluded on a mountain surrounded by trees with seasonal views. The campsite is neighboring 105 acres of beautiful conservatory land available for hiking. No true trails are available, but you can be adventurous and hike further up the mountain, arriving to a clearing, providing you with a lovely mountainous view. From the mountain, you can hike to a waterfall or even hike across a lovely plain field surrounded by mountain ranges on both sides and crossing the creek over to Historic Stone houses in Hurley. Within a 10 minute drive check out some of the local restaurants like Alebrijes, Hickory BBQ & Smokehouse, and the Hurley Inn where the movie “Tootsie” was filmed!. Hurley Marbletown Trailhead and Rail trail parking are only a 6 minute drive away! The town of Kingston is about 15 minutes from our site where you will find Bluestone Wild Forest, antique shops, restaurants, other outdoor activities! The nights are just spectacular as you look into the sky surrounded by a blanket of stars, able to see the many constellations looking like jewels on a black cloth. The sounds of nature and all of it's distinct calls including that of eagles, is truly an experience. And we cannot forget our other friendly neighbors, the wild turkeys and deer! We are very appreciative of this beauty and would love to share this sacred place with you. Learn more about this land: Feels like you’re away from civilization but yet close to all the Hudson valley has to offer. 15-20min from Woodstock, rosendale, stone ridge, Rhinebeck, red hook, New Paltz and Mohawnk short 30 min drive. The glampsite is a yurt with a fire pit and a full modern bathroom just a short walk away. For a small fee, you can also rent our bikes for riding the nearby rail trail or just visit the waterfall 2 miles away. Wood available for purchase. Weekend Trip to The Record Room

We stayed at the Record Room Cabin this past weekend and absolutely loved it! The hot tub with warm water and hot tub made for such a unique experience — truly unforgettable. The sense of privacy and peace was perfect, and the vinyl record collection was just incredible. There's even a magnificent pool table under a canopy with a view of the forest – a truly stunning sight. I agree with all the comments above. This is truly an amazing place! I really hope to come back again!

I would recommend this place to all my friends! The cabin itself was perfect for a weekend getaway having all the essentials needed and some nice extras like the hot tub and sauna. The area was incredibly beautiful and close to a cute little town. Despite some travel issues, we were met with kindness and flexibility, which show how amazing they were at hosting! We also got some very good local recommendations :) we’ll definitely be back!

3 nights at The Record Room

My sweetheart and I had such an amazing time at The Record Room. We stayed for 3 nights and we wish we had one more! It was a cozy getaway that felt timeless. We loved setting the vibe with the records, dancing in the living room, and just enjoying some slow, peaceful days. It was cold when we went and one day was particularly rainy, but there is a lot to enjoy indoors and the fireplace kept us warm and cozy. One thing to note is that the wood provided is rather thin and burns fast. For this reason, heating the hot tub and keeping the indoor fireplace lit is a JOB! We had to add every 15 minutes or so. Our recommendation is to start early on the hot tub and bring some of your own logs as well - even better if they’re the big fire-starter ones. Overall it’s a special place. Masen and his family are great hosts and we hope to make it back again someday.

2 nights at Hippie Havens: A Groovy Retreat

We’ve stayed here twice now with our dogs and had an absolute blast both times. We loved it so much that we came back within a month, and we’re already bummed we won’t get to return until next season. Every extra is worth it - the sauna is incredible, the hot tub with the TV is a huge hit, and adding the Nintendo Switch and projector makes for such a fun movie night on the porch. The food is all delicious and clearly made with care. You can tell a lot of thought went into every detail. There are fun little things to read and listen to, and it feels peaceful and private once the sun goes down. The big windows give you a perfect view of the stars at night and the sunrise in the morning. Shaggy really goes above and beyond. We’ve stayed in tons of places over the years, and this is easily one of our top three favorites. Don’t wait, book it and have a great time.

We loved our stay at the Hippie Haven for my birthday weekend getaway. Everything was explained prior to our arrival and set up when we arrived. Our hosts, Shaggy and Kendra, made themselves available throughout the trip, ensuring we had everything we needed for a peaceful weekend. We utilized the hot tub and projector - and both were left with easy to use instructions. Everything inside the haven was left for us to access with ease. The space they provided was clean, fresh, and cozy! Hippie Haven is the perfect, relaxing weekend away!

3 nights at The Record Room

Masen was very friendly and helpful when we arrived. The Record Room was a cool place to stay and we really enjoyed it there. Yes, it takes some time to get the hot tub warm but just make a plan and make it happen cause it’s awesome! It was especially magical with a full supermoon lighting up the sky! A great little retreat with lots of hiking in the area, and pretty views. The property was fairly well equipped. The stream on the property was dried up from no rain, and though bummed, Mother Nature is in charge, so we readjusted our expectations. Just a little disappointing how quickly the power was gone from listening to records. We didn’t really need power but for that, with our constant campfire and our lanterns while we were on site, but we wanted wanted more music! Haha The collection is fun and diverse! Overall, the Record Room is a cool experience and I recommend it!

Everything at Hippie Haven was perfectly curated. Shaggy and Kendra have put a love of love and creativity into their land, and have the clear intention of giving you the utmost comfort, relaxation, and fun on your stay there. Their land is secluded and feels safe, and walking the property at night to visit different amenities (hot tub, sauna) was easy and carefree. The cabin itself was C L E A N and well taken care of. Every detail was looked after, down to clean robes, fresh linens and towels, and even the drink and cookware provided was immaculate and organized. We wanted for absolutely nothing as Shaggy had set everything we needed in place prior to our arrival, and he still was highly communicative and insistent we could reach out for absolutely anything. We opted for the hot tub, sauna, polaroid camera, and firewood add-on. Everything we added made the stay even more magical. My partner and I agreed it was the best air bnb/hipcamp/hotel either of us have EVER stayed in. We’re huge hippies ourselves and it was great to stay in a place that offered a carefree getaway that was also eco conscious, and decorated with care. We enjoyed a fire on the patio each night while listening to just a few of the records Shaggy has to offer - including rolling stones, led zeppelin, neil young, and more. They’re close to a few shops and restaurants as well, but they provide all the tools needed to make a few meals while you’re there. We love Hippie Haven and can’t wait to come back!!

What an amazing experience! Shaggy's Cosmic Cabin is filled with wonderful decor and surprises at every turn. All the amenities you could need are provided and usually with a fun and colorful twist, from tie dye towels and wash cloths to fun shaped dishes, coffee mugs and silverware . There were comfortable robes, to fit all sizes, which makes the tiny walk to the blissful hot tub no issue at all. The make-your-own waffles are both delicious and adorable, with fabulous homemade toppings to cover every possible taste bud craving. My husband and I had a blast browsing the extensive record collection and playing some of our favs while making our dinner or while chilling on the deck in the morning sunshine, while drinking the delicious coffee and tea selections provided, of course! I highly recommend you splurge on the projector rental, as the screen was easy to set up and the projector was simple to use, outside or even inside on the ceiling! Shaggy himself is total sweetie, he explained everything clearly, had fabulous dining and local attraction recommendations, (the Woodstock museum at Bethel Woods was incredible!) and was happy to share his doggie, Taj, with us whenever we needed a soft and sweet canine companion. I highly recommend this Cosmic Cabin! And don't let the composting toilet scare you, it is totally easy to use and the little "nitelights" inside are adorable, lol. Shaggy and Kendra have totally perfected the "glamping" experience!

We did a special girls trip for my friend’s birthday who recently lost her husband. We absolutely loved everything about staying at Hippie Haven! From movie night outside, the campfire, trampoline, hammocks, nature walk, hot tub, barbecuing and making s’mores, we enjoyed it all! We had so much fun! Cooking outside was also easy and convenient and the bathroom and shower were so clean! It was such a relaxing, tranquil, fun experience and we were able to make wonderful memories there. I definitely recommend this stay and give it 5 stars! Shaggy, you’re the best and thank you and Kendra for your kindness and hospitality! The Record Room is beyond cool! Think rustic but cozy! You get to sleep in a warm, cozy and comfortable bed while still being in the magic of the woods. There's an outdoor kitchen for fireside meals, a beautiful sauna just a short walk away, a hot tub run by natural spring water and more! You have books, games and a record player inside and a hammock outside. The cabin is run on solar so be sure to preserve your power! We discovered an amazing waterfall just a 3 minute drive away as well as got to see an amazing overlook just 5 minutes away! There's also a pool table on the property that you can use! Your phone will most likely be on SOS mode while staying at the cabin so be prepared with all that you need before arriving. Overall, Masen's HipCamp was such a cool experience and I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to get away and recharge your soul with the magic of this property!

My family had a great time at the record room! We enjoyed everything: the great outdoor kitchen set up, the record collection, adding on to the “fairy camp” in the woods, stargazing on the hammock etc etc. The cabin is so cozy and the loft bed was very comfortable. The pit toilet is well maintained. We really felt we had everything we needed! The hot tub wasn’t able to be used while we were there sadly but it looked very nice. Instead, we enjoyed the sauna which was incredible. It was like being at a nature spa! We would love to come back. Great experience for all (adults, kids and dogs)!

Kendra and Shaggy were super great hosts and Hippie Haven was such a fun Hipcamp. The camp was clean and well-stocked, everything we could have asked for. We really appreciated everything the hosts provided to make our stay comfortable, while still being outdoorsy enough for us. The camp is close to plenty of outdoor activities as well as some really cute towns, so many options. We loved the decor and availability of hammocks, coffee, tea, towels, speakers, hot tub, etc. Everything was well communicated from the beginning, and Kendra and Shaggy were available for whatever we needed during our stay. The photos and description are all accurate. Great place, we are planning on making a return visit some day.

The record room is something truly magical that can only be explained by experiencing for yourself. It is the perfect spot to connect with nature without sacrificing our creature comforts. It was the perfect spot to camp with our two little girls, exploring the magical forest full of wonders, fairy houses and cool sculptures. The outdoor kitchen has everything you need to make delicious meals while watching the hummingbirds and butterflies sip from the surrounding wildflowers. I'd take it over a modern kitchen any day. We loved having dance parties in the cabin playing all the records and soaking in the hot cedar tub under the plentiful stars. Lots of great spots for fishing and hiking in the area. The cabin itself is super comfortable. We had one rainy day on our trip and honestly it was my favorite day. Listening to the raindrops on the tin roof with a fire going and a good book and a good record. The rain made the forest even more beautiful. Masen and his dad are great hosts, quick to answer any questions, Super friendly cool people who put a lot of thought into every little touch of this place. There was even a suprise pool table not on the listing! My only qualm is that we overpacked as they supply you with pretty much everything you would need, and that we had to leave. We cant wait to come back!

Where to go

Beacon

Just a 20-minute drive east over the Hudson from Walden, Beacon is famed as the home of the contemporary art gallery Dia: Beacon and home to a number of galleries, boutiques and antique stores. Another 25 minutes east of Beacon, Fahnestock State Park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts who can hike, bird, boat, fish, and set up camp at the seasonal Fahnestock State Park Campground.

Cornwall-on-Hudson

A 25-minute drive south of Walden takes you to the outdoor sculpture park, Storm King Art Centre, named for nearby Storm King Mountain. You can spend all your time here wandering around the sprawling, 500-acre park, but don’t miss hiking in the pristine Storm King State Park nearby.

Poughkeepsie

Heading 40 minutes northeast out of Walden, the city of Poughkeepsie is home to Hudson Valley's most unique state park. The 1.28-mile Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park spans the Hudson River and is the world's longest elevated pedestrian bridge, offering excellent views of the Hudson Valley.

Bear Mountain

A 40-minute drive south of Walden, Bear Mountain State Park offers hiking, biking and cross-country ski trails as well as river fishing access. Adjacent to Bear Mountain is Harriman State Park with 31 lakes, two beaches, 200 miles of trails and camping at primitive Beaver Pond Campground.

When to go

Spring and summer are the ideal times to visit to enjoy the trails and water activities on offer in the Hudson Valley. However, given the area’s proximity to New York City, you should expect crowds in the peak summer season, especially on weekends and holidays. September and October can also get busy with visitors arriving to see the vibrant colors of fall foliage while winters offer skiing and snowshoeing. Note that some popular attractions in the area, such as Storm Mountain Art Center, close in winter.
