Trails Head Cabin

4. Trails Head Cabin

28mi from Roscoe · 2 sites · Lodging · Rock Hill, NY
Welcome to Trails Head Cabin! Fully renovated a couple of years ago, this quaint and rustic cabin has reclaimed barn wood doors and accent walls hand built by my husband, Rich. The cabin is located on a quiet dead end road, this cabin sits at the head of the Neversink River unique area and offers activities such as hiking, fishing and hunting. There are a variety of bars and restaurants located in the small town of Rock Hill, as well as our local Farmer's Market every Saturday only during the summer months. The cabin is a short trip away from the local grocery store, a five minute drive to Resorts World Casino and Holiday Mountain Ski and Fun Park. A twenty-five minute drive to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (sight of the 1969 Woodstock Festival). OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE: Please respect our non-smoking policy. There is absolutely NO smoking of any kind allowed in the cabin. A $200 charge will be applied if you do smoke inside to cover the additional cleaning costs. No Drugs or illegal activity. No Smoking or vaping. No incense or candles. We always like our guests to know ahead of time that there is mild to moderate vehicle and foot traffic near the hiking trails during the day. As this location has become more and more popular, the individuals who come to hike, bike, fish, hunt, etc. are required to parallel park their cars on the opposite side of the road. However, our property is private and clearly posted, and may only be used by our guests. The cell phone service is very weak when you first arrive at the cabin however, once you are connected to the WiFi you should have capability to call and text. NOTE: Any early check-in or late check-out requests will require an extra fee of $20 per hour We look forward to hosting you at Trails Head Cabin! See you soon!

32mi from Roscoe · 3 sites · Tents, Lodging · Sparrow Bush, NY
This campsite is nestled in the deep woods of a 120 acre farm that offers beautiful views coming and going. After being allowed to use the restroom at the stone farmhouse, you will then go rustic and start your 3/4 - 1 mile hike in (approximately 20 minutes to the campsite) past the fields and pond down the path into the woods. The trail is remote and you will instantly be able to leave the sights and sounds of civilization behind you and breath the clean forest air. Wear good hiking shoes because portions of the hike are uneven and rocky. This site is best for experienced campers who know how to pack light with just the essentials as there is no tractor service to this campsite. When you arrive at the campsite, you will be within 20 feet of a year round stream with brook trout and in a hundred foot tall hemlock canopy nestled between two brook meadows. A 9,000 acre forested preserve abuts our property so you will be able to completely relax, bird watch, enjoy the wildlife, or fish for a brook trout breakfast without hearing the sounds of anyone but yourselves. The campsite has a stone fire pit, split log benches for seating, a canvas privacy blind around a stand of trees where the composting toilet resides, and a food bag lift to attach your food and trash bags to about 100 yards from the campsite. Unlimited Split firewood is free next to where you will park that you can take down to the site. All trash needs to be carted out with you. We can't accept mixed trash as it will attract animals that will knock over the trashcans and make a mess. No food goes in our personal trashcans as we have learned this the hard way. Thanks! *For those that are looking for a closer walk-in site, look up our Little Birds Farm - Rolling Forest campsite also listed on Hipcamper!

There will be no running water during this time and the solar will not work as well as it does during the summer months. Jesse and Chantel are the kindhearted and dedicated keepers of this beautiful oasis. With twelve acres of pure forest and sweet river waters, our vision is to preserve and honor the ways of our ancestors for seven generations to come; and serve the community by sharing our indigenous practices. We are a Sanctuary rooted in seeking alignment, and connection through healing. Nature is our church, spirit and religion!!! So we welcome all who are called to come and be present with gratitude and respect for the power of this planet. Enjoy this majestic sweet forest and feel the beautiful energy it has! We will share our indigenous ways with all who want to come join and pray with us. Each brother and sister will receive cedar (in place of tobacco) to pray with their fire which represents Great Spirit(Yaya Guaturey), you can set your intensions to release what no longer serves your lives, and then to make space to receive what will bring harmony in - Han Hankatu (let it be so) The East Mongaup River flows right along our land. We keep it clean and charged with good vibrations. It will surely melt away any stress you carry; sending you back home feeling renewed, restored, and rejuvenated! Our Taino Woods Sanctuary, a.k.a Fairy Magical Sweet Land, of twelve acres in the Catskills is the perfect place to commune in prayer, pitch your tent, gaze up at the stars, and unwind next to a nearby fire. This raw, soft, organic land is a home teeming with life. Listen to the birds as they sing throughout the day and into the night. (We call them the fairies). Look for the curious creatures that walk the earth like the frogs and newts. Open your ears to the sweet sounds of the East Mongaup River; and perhaps take the brief walk down to visit her. We, the land stewards, believe in making a place better than how we found it. We want to preserve the land’s naturalness and ecosystem; so we ask that you do not hurt or remove any of its animals, moss, insects, or plants; and most importantly, do not feed any of them. We look forward to hosting you on a magical journey to inner peace. Thank you and many blessings.

Due to the colder weather, and lack of sunlight, we will be shutting down for the season. Welcome to The Record Room! Our property has a vast collection of vintage, classic, and current vinyl albums that play solely from solar power. Its audio system delivers sound on the inside and out for a campfire mood that can't be beaten. The Monguap River is close enough to be seen and heard from the cabin, but the adventure of getting there is half the fun! The Delaware River is only 2 miles from our location, and River rafting is a big business around here. A small artesian-fed creek runs right next to the cabin. It lends to the relaxing sounds of water with many quaint spots for you to dip your toes into, paired with a wood-fired tub that feeds off of the stream, which can only be explained by experience (weather-dependent). Our hot tub also pairs beautifully with our newest addition to the cabin, our sauna! Perfect for a cold plunge afterwards (more information in the add-on description)! A queen temper-pedic bed and super comfy overstuffed futon will assure a good night's slumber. The Record Room's covered outdoor kitchen is designed to extend the awesome vibes into every meal.. (I.E., Flat top grill, single burner, and stainless grate grill all powered by propane, cast iron frying pans, and utensils). Our outhouse is designed and maintained by the women of the family, and great pride is taken in making it a favorable experience. A small wood stove heats the Record Room on chilly mornings and nights. If you're looking for the fine line between camping and glamping, this is your place! We recommend having some prior camping expertise, and we must mention that there is no WiFi/ service. We have a few spots available for your friend circle to pitch a tent and enjoy the experience with you! A basic convenience store can be located three miles to the right of our property with all your basic needs (including gas). For your grocery shopping, a small family-owned market can be found within 10 minutes up the road. If you're looking for activities, there are plenty of rafting/canoeing/kayaking companies for your enjoyment. We also recommend downloading a trail-finding app, as there are an abundance of them all within 5 minutes! Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Welcome to Clearing Farm! Our grounds expand over 100 acres with many private hiking trails, a big field and cascading waterfalls. Visit our Instagram @clearingfarm to find out more. It is a far cry from a typical hotel or traditional glamping. This Clearing Farm off-grid cabin is located on our 100+ acre farm. You'll be staying right next to a waterfall and able to enjoy all our land features. Experience a private campsite equipped with a Casper Full Mattress, fire pit and charcoal grill. Please note there is 1 bed at the property but room next to the cabin to bring and put up additional tents. There is no power at the campsite. 34mi from Roscoe · 9 sites · Tents, RVs, Lodging · Pocono Woodland Lakes, PA
All lodging sites have heating for your comfort and are available year round! The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October (say 'hi' to Jim). In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be. The farmhouse and cabins are located opposite the campsites on other side of route 97. Next to them are 50 acres of wild forest to hike and explore. These accommodations are great for guests who want more amenities but still with easy access to river. Pair campsites and cabins so that all your guests have their best experience. Contact us to coordinate for larger group bookings.

Ugly Apple Farms was started by my Wife and to try to bring fresh organic/permaculture food to our community. We love to play music and get together with our friends and have been hosting people for some time. We thought that hipcamp could introduce people to our mission and make some extra money to get the farm off the ground. Ugly Apple Farms is a diverse place. We have opportunities for farm classes, pick your own veggies and more. We also have 1800 feet of access to the Neversink River. We recommend four wheel drive for some of our sites so please ask about them. We are an off grid farm with access to some solar for charging. We have tent sites and room for campers. Our camping is primitive but there is access to potable water and sanitation if needed. All extras are first come first serve if not reserved in advance. We love and welcome any questions! This land was once all pasture for grazing animals. We moved to Delaware County in November 2018 to start our family and pursue dreams of working on the land. The initial idea was to find a place we could live, garden, and raise a few animals while hosting guests and sharing the land with visitors. When we found this place on Williams Road, we loved the mix of rural and proximity to a thriving country town. We now have two kids and enjoy living in Delhi so much we hardly leave the town limits! There are wonderful restaurants, a great year-round farmers market, grocery stores, and many other services and amenities you can find listed towards the end of this guide. Our Catskill Mountain home is situated on a historic early 19th century farm site. Parts of the house might be more than 190 years old! With several additions and upgrades we think the house has lots of charm and enjoy the many modern touches. The property is overgrown pastures and a few steeper slopes with medium growth trees. After the industrial period saw this region nearly deforested, the land was granted to settlers who cleared fields and planted grass. Our immediate vicinity was knows for it’s cattle (Bovina), mostly for diary, and sheep. The agriculture in Delaware County has been on a decline since the advent of rail shipping opened New York City markets to farms in less challenging geographies. Construction of the NYC fresh water system (DEP Watershed) may have contributed to this decline, but about 60-70 years ago the majority of pastures, especially less productive parcels were abandoned to the “weed trees”. These first succession trees grew quickly in the sunny meadows and covered the hills; trees such as Ash, Hawthorn, and Norway Spruce. Fences and barns were left to return to the earth. On our property the stone walls that boarder the fields are the most stark reminder of the intensive agriculture practiced here.

This is not an insulated structure and during the winter months there is no running water. The outhouse is located about 50 feet from the tiny house. The Tiny House is located in a very private and remote location that sits next to thousands of acres of state land with beautiful hiking trails and access to the Neversink River. Guest access Private and easy parking with short hike down hill to the site if you are unable to drive directly to the site (NOTE: During the winter months all guests must park in the designated parking spot and hike to the site. You cannot drive as a result of the unpredictable weather) While the hike is short, some parts are steep, so please walk slowly and take your time. Driving to the site can only be done during the spring and summer months and requires a high clearance Truck, Jeep or SUV with all wheel drive or 4-Wheel Drive ONLY. Keypad on the front door for easy entry. Other details to note Unless you have an all wheel drive or four wheel drive vehicle, Please DO NOT drive or attempt to drive to the tiny house site. IF you decide to drive an all wheel drive or four wheel drive vehicle, it is at your own risk and the owners are not responsible for any damages. (NOTE: During the winter months all guests must park in the designated parking spot and hike to the site. There will be no running water during this time and the solar will not work as well as it does during the summer months. We recommend not using the electric during the daytime hours, as this helps conserve power for when you will need to use it at night.

Where to go

Delaware Wild Forest

Around a 30-minute drive north of Roscoe, the Delaware Wild Forest is located in the western Catskill Forest Preserve and has more than 47 miles of recreational trails with 28 miles designated as snowmobile trails. There are four lean-to shelters located in the wild forest.

Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River

To the south of Roscoe, the Delaware River offers plenty of recreational opportunities, including boating, fishing, and hiking. There’s also the chance of spotting wintering bald eagles along the river. River users can use the water access-only Pennsylvania State Forest primitive camping area within the Buckhorn Natural Area of Delaware State Forest.

Hudson Highlands

With more than 70 miles of trails, ranging from easy to challenging, spread over 8,000 acres, Hudson Highlands State Park, around an hour and a half south of Roscoe, offers plenty of opportunity for activities with a scenic mountainous backdrop. Campers can spend the night at Fahnestock State Park on the eastern side of the Hudson Highlands.

Big Indian Wilderness

Covering 33,500 acres around an hour northeast of Roscoe, the Big Indian Wilderness Area is home to the longest (30 miles) stretch of trail through uninterrupted virgin forest in the Catskills. There are five lean-tos located trailside throughout the area, as well as other designated campsites. Primitive camping is also allowed.

When to go

With its promise of long, sunny days ideal for enjoying the great outdoors, summer is the most popular time of year to visit Roscoe and the Catskills. However, the season can bring crowded trails and booked-up campsites. September and October are also popular with visitors arriving to see fall foliage. Winters have the appeal of being relatively crowd-free and offer skiing and snowshoeing.
