Taughannock Falls State Park, Finger Lakes National Forest, and the Seneca Lake Wine Trail are all within a short drive or bike ride from the site. A 20 minute drive east will bring you to downtown Ithaca, where you can visit the renowned Ithaca Farmer's Market, Cornell University, Six Mile Creek, and plenty of bars and restaurants. Ithaca is also home to series of serene swimming holes at the base of waterfalls where locals and visitors relax during the summer. If you choose to go west you'll end up in Watkins Glen where you can check out the 200-foot cliffs and 19 waterfalls of the dreamlike landscape at Watkins Glen State Park, known as one of the best state parks in the U.S.We are both very experienced backpackers, cyclists, and bikepackers. Kimberly is a bike organizer and routemaker who runs Radical Adventure Riders Finger Lakes, a community for BIPOC and FTWN-B (femme, trans*, women, non-binary) bikepackers. She's happy to provide guidance on road, gravel, and mountain biking in the area and share her library of local bike routes. We have a work stand and tools available to fix any small issue you might have on your bike as well. We can also tell you about the hiking, backpacking and cross country skiing in the local area, much of which can be accessed by a 10 minute drive to Finger Lakes National Forest.We ask that those who stay on their property please respect the space and the land. We had such a great stay! The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming, and their sweet pup made the visit even better. The campsite itself was wonderful: spacious, private, and stocked with plenty of firewood, which made our evening around the fire super easy and relaxing. We also got to enjoy some beautiful fall foliage during our stay, which made the experience even more special. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful and well-kept spot to unwind!

Beautiful location and views! The cabin is so lovely- straight forward but also well equipped with lots of thoughtful touches and art! Loved hanging on the screen-in porch and being able to take a hot shower outside. Sauna was incredible, just takes time and patience :) Air mattress was comfier than I expected too. I hope to return for another staycation in the woods soon!

7 nights at Bosque de Maria/Maria's Forest

We had a lovely stay. Our hosts were very considerate and kind, and the camping area felt very private and quiet, which was just what we were looking for. There was abundant dead wood around that we were welcome to burn, which was fantastic as our trip was in mid-October and quite chilly. The shower was great for warming up as well. Chris also had some excellent recommendations for local hikes and restaurants. All in all, we had a wonderful trip and would highly recommend our hosts.

Steve's property was beautiful! We were graciously greeted by Lucy and Steve's wife(I'm so sorry to be blanking on her name, she was very welcoming as well!). Our stay was shorter than we would've liked, but following a nice dirt path to get to our site, we came to a nice cleared out space, with plenty of firewood with some covered just in case of rain. I had my wife and 2 year old with me, and it was so nice to sit by the fire, with absolutely ZERO light pollution to see the stars, and nothing but the sounds of owls and other wildlife in the area. We're already looking forward to booking another trip sometime next year!

We loved camping at the Pine Tree site! It was beautiful, quiet and secluded while still being conveniently located between Watkins Glen and Ithaca. Steve and his wife Anne were lovely hosts and always available to answer questions. Their shop was full of all sorts of treasures from handmade soaps and beautiful cards to tinctures made from mushrooms grown on the farm. The bath house has a composting toilet, cold water sink and shower that is solar heated in the summer. It's beautifully built earthen constuction decorated with gorgeous repurposed glass. Thank you for the much needed get away, we hope to be back soon!

Weekend Trip to Hawk Meadow Farm

Peaceful and secluded campsites. Both existing camp sites seem like they would comfortably fit at least 2 couples if you wanted to double up. The property has great wilderness to wander, and the hosts, including Lucy the sheep dog are all wonderful. The bathhouse is an earthen building with a cold water sink and shower, and a composting toilet. Beware of what you are getting into with that, and you'll be fine if you are used to those things. Both sites have pull-through capability if you are pulling a micro camper like I was, and prefer not to back up with it. Easy drive into Watkins Glen, moderate drive to Ithaca.

4 nights at Spring lake retreat on the farm

We had such a wonderful birthday trip on Tommy’s land and in the surrounding area. Our site was the hilltop overlooking the rolling hills on one side and the forest on the other. It was perfect! Very private although the other site down the hill wasn’t occupied. They are spread apart quite a ways and both have picnic tables and fire rings. Tommy and his wife, Laura, both very nice and generous hosts, brought us plenty of free wood for our stay. Upon check-in, he greeted us and was very hospitable, offering suggestions for area must-sees for scenery, parks, wineries, food etc. They do offer usage of a flush toilet and sink in the end of their house, if desired. We’re pretty self-contained campers and didn’t utilize them. The property is very neat and clean in a rural area. We especially loved seeing the horse and cows each day as we are both originally from small farming towns. We would highly recommend this Hipcamp to anyone wanting a serene getaway with beautiful landscape and gracious host. Was a perfect trip! While you’re here, check out the Chimney Bluffs on Lake Ontario. They are super cool!

Weekend Trip to HipSites @ Fulkerson Winery

A great spot for a beautiful view of Seneca Lake. The only downside is that route 14 is about 150 yards down the hill so during the day the noise from traffic is a little annoying. At night, it's much better and never interrupted our sleep. Also, don't forget about the "Seneca Guns". You can hear those cannon sounds throughout the day. Scientists say it's natural gas being released from pockets under the lake. When the gas reaches the surface it creates a booming sound, sort of like a gunshot. Noticeable but after awhile you get used to it. We would camp there again.

Weekend Trip to The Stone Shanty

We had a super relaxing weekend stay at The Stone Shanty and Amy was was a very friendly and easygoing host. The property itself is very beautiful, with the site we stayed at overlooking a scenic pond. Loved hearing owls as the sun was setting and once it was dark, the view of the stars was amazing. It happened to be a "new moon" the weekend we were there which made the sky even darker and we saw many shooting stars and could clearly see the Milky Way. We will be back again!

Amy is a very kind host with great communication. There is a neat little covered patio area with a 'bar' type setup with stools. If it rained you could definitely hold out in there for a bit. Plenty of benches and picnic tables. The pond was nice. Kids would love swimming in it. The area near the pond has a great view of the sky and it's quite dark out there for good star gazing. It was very quiet day and night. This is not a 'glamping experience'. It's a neat, rustic piece of property, in a great location.
