Our land steward, Melita, is a retired landscape gardener who enjoys ecological landscaping and trail-making. A short walking loop takes you from the cottages to our lake access and up around the far meadow, which is in the process of being reforested. Resting benches are placed seasonally at the lakeshore and along the far meadow path. Swimming is not recommended, but access for experienced kayak and canoe users is available. Our shale beach is a picturesque, relaxing, and history-rich spot to while away the hours in your camp chair. Birders will enjoy an abundant variety of shore and inland species. Our land management objectives include conservation, forest restoration, and agriculture—fostering refuge and recovery for the land and its inhabitants: plants, pollinators, wildlife, and humans alike. A portion of our 100+ acre farm is leased to a neighboring farmer for hay production. Our non-commercial orchard is a thread of history connecting us to the nearby vibrant, commercially productive orchards that are part of Shoreham’s rich agricultural heritage.

If you are a winter visitor, plenty of ski resorts are a little over an hour away like Stratton, Bromely, Okemo, or Killington to name a few. Come by and visit us down the road at Slateville Farm to enjoy our fresh produce/eggs, over 8 miles of private hiking trails, and numerous swimming holes. We also have luxury cabin rentals if you need comfortable lodging but want to be closer to nature than you would be in a hotel. We have seasonal RV sites available for those who like to escape for the weekend and relax or just like to be close to the action for the summer season. We have several tent sites as well as cabins and rv sites! 3 Night minimum for Holiday weekends including July 4th and Labor Day. 2 night minimum on weekends, but sometimes we can make an exception if it's short notice and there are sites available.

Resting benches are placed seasonally at the lakeshore and along the far meadow path. Swimming is not recommended, but access for experienced kayak and canoe users is available. Our shale beach is a picturesque, relaxing, and history-rich spot to while away the hours in your camp chair. Birders will enjoy an abundant variety of shore and inland species. Our land management objectives include conservation, forest restoration, and agriculture—fostering refuge and recovery for the land and its inhabitants: plants, pollinators, wildlife, and humans alike. A portion of our 100+ acre farm is leased to a neighboring farmer for hay production. Our non-commercial orchard is a thread of history connecting us to the nearby vibrant, commercially productive orchards that are part of Shoreham’s rich agricultural heritage.

Come stay in our 1880s vintage summer cottage, built as a studio by a Keene Valley artist on a secluded and elevated spot in the center of the Adirondacks' High Peaks. It has a gorgeous view of Giant, Hopkins and Spread Eagle mountains. The summer cottage overlooks a cliff and is a few hundred yards from the nearest house, a classic Adirondack camp that shares its driveway but can't be seen. Even so, it is within walking distance of the village of Keene Valley,. Hikers love it because it's a 25-minute walk to The Garden, one of the largest and most popular trailheads in the Adirondacks that has very little parking. The cottage has a huge covered porch (not screened) that looks out on the mountains and functions as an outdoor dining room with a view. The accommodations are rustic but comfortable: a bedroom with a double bed; a kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker; washer/dryer; a bathroom with a shower/bath; and a large sitting room with a stone fireplace and a futon that sleeps two. There is a one-room cabin nearby (also available for rent) with a screened porch that is perfect for sleeping in the summer.

I stayed two nights while exploring the trails and really enjoyed the view over the field with their horses during the day and the stars at night were amazing. The open secluded space provided was amazing and having firewood on site was top notch. Very beautiful view to wake up too and the trails were great and the trees was so beautiful. Would definitely come back again!! The host was great and showed us where our campsite was when we got there late, 😅 she was nice to wait up. They have hot showers which was great and a cute little farmers market where she had the veggies and eggs there to purchase. Plus there were cows there to see, so cute! Thanks again and would definitely come back again!!

My family (7 year old daughter, husband and dog) had the most wonderful time tent camping at the Hops site on Heather and Paul's beautiful farm. It's such a special, expansive place with so many cool spots to hike to within the farm that we didn't feel like we needed to leave the property. We loved the peace and privacy of the Hops site but next time we'd like to try to Oak tree site which has stunning views. My daughter loved drinking directly from the spring behind Heather's house, and visiting the pergola near dusk. The highland cows against the backdrop of rolling hills and the beautiful slate structures look like paintings. I'd definitely recommend taking the tour of the property to orient yourself. Heather is a lovely person and a knowledgeable and engaging host.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful lake view cabin! The photos online truly don't do it justice—the place is even more stunning in person. The cabin was incredibly cozy, relaxing, and peaceful, with all the amenities you could ask for. The mornings were especially great, waking up to the beautiful lake views. We spent two nights here and every moment was perfect. The host was so friendly and welcoming, making our experience even better. As the first guests, we felt honored to be part of this gem's story. Stayed at the Oak Tree Site on Heather’s land and I can’t recommend it enough! The site the peaceful, secluded, and on the opposite side of the road and up the hill away from the main farmhouse and other sites. The site had a picnic table, fire pit, a grate to cook over the fire, a charcoal grill, and an outhouse. The site is an open area with a beautiful view of the Milky Way on a clear night. Make sure you’re driving a 4x4 vehicle up to the site - bit of a climb. Heather is a lovely host and is available for any questions or recommendations - lovely hiking trails onsite (go sit at the quarry!)

Amazing experience! The owl site felt very secluded, and it was fun to explore trails and the beautiful land. We heard the owls every night during our stay but couldn’t spot them:) Our pups swam in the leaf piles and the quarry, and kitty enjoyed overlooking the site on the picnic table. Everyone had a wonderful time. We arrived after dark due to traffic delays but Heather still welcomed us in person and lead us to the site. The farm stand is cute, and the shower really helpful for our slightly longer stay (4 days). Can’t wait to come back soon.

Heather provided us with the perfect getaway weekend! Her farm is so beautiful and she is a wonderful hostess! The Hops site was very private and peaceful. The outdoor seating and firepit made it so easy to relax and enjoy the fall evenings. The hiking trails that they have made are great to explore. We also took advantage of the outdoor shower which was such a nice experience. Even the outhouse was comfortable and meticulously maintained, and this is coming from someone who normally tries to avoid them. Last and certainly not least, we are still enjoying some of the home-grown/homemade treats from her farm stand, and cannot wait to return to Slateville. Thank you to Heather and Paul for such a great weekend!

This was a lovely camping spot with lots of space and beautiful fall views. Picnic table, fire pit with chairs, and your own porta-john. Close and easy to get to from the highway, but with no loud traffic. It's quiet at ADK Saddle Hill and highly recommended!

Very cool spot. Do be advised that they have weddings and events until 10:00 pm, so there is a bit of noise and music, but nothing too disturbing. Very friendly welcome, free firewood. I got to pitch my tent on a well built platform, which helped reduce the September chill.

I loved staying here, waking up each morning to coffee and the view of the mountains was exactly what I was looking for. From the cabin I was able to walk to multiple trailheads and begin hiking. Not having to drive and find parking was a huge plus. And at the end of every night I had a warm fire in the fireplace going and slept perfectly. Id love to visit again!

I am still not over the views at this campground and never will be 😭😍 my husband and I went on our anniversary trip this past weekend and waking up to the mountains and seeing sunset every day was beyond a dream. Sarah’s horses were so sweet and friendly too, and they even came right up to the fence when we were sitting there one day. And on another note, SHE HAS THE 👏🏻 NICEST 👏🏻 OUTHOUSE 👏🏻🤣 it has a light and is clean as a whistle 😂😂😂😂 in addition, Sarah answered our questions speedily and recommended some hiking spots in the Adirondack Mountains. We stayed at camp site #2 for reference and saw the views in the pics below 😍anybody would enjoy their time at Saddle Hill:)
