Sunset Hill Orchard was operated as a family-managed fully operating Apple Orchard from the 1940s until 2000. The Orchard still has hundreds of apple trees and in the transition to the next generation, hosted events for many years. We have a beautifully manicured clearing with a fire pit and the second largest ash Tree in the state of NH; The New Hampshire Big Tree County Champion for Hillsboro County. We decided to shift our offering to a more community-oriented and environment-friendly area.
Sunset Hill Orchard sits atop a hill with views of local hiking areas like the Uncanookic Mountains and on a clear winter day Pats Peak.
We would like a tent(s) set up to find ideal spots around the manicured grass around the ash tree to maintain the area. Just like wilderness adventures, there could be poison ivy, sumac, and other uncomfortable part of nature, please always use caution.

THIS CAN BE RENTED AS A CAMPSITE ONLY. Our 3-acre property is surrounded by beautiful countryside with lots country charm. At one point in the early 1900's it was home to itinerant farmers who farmed the nearby fields. Our property was the dumping grounds for the stones/rocks that were pulled from the fields. You will notice lots of them throughout the property!
Our site is a well manicured area near our house on a 3-acre parcel. There is lots of sun and shade depending on when and where you happen to be on the site. There is plenty of space to pull out your favorite lawn game and a great firepit to keep warm at night. We are about 10 minutes from Clough State Park where there is plenty to do including swimming, paddling, biking, hiking, ATVing, etc. Our site has 50amp service and filtered well water (2 spigots). Depending on how long your RV is, you may not be able to put our your awning all the way.

I’ve lived on this property for over 40 years of my life, exploring and camping many times in these woods. I decided to build an A-frame cabin perched on the hill that overlooks the brook a few years back and it has quickly become my happy place.
This site is a great space to be in the woods, but not too far from things. You can explore the 15+ acres of woods, take a dip in the water, forage mushrooms or just sit under the pines.
The cabin is just a few minute walk past the tree line and very private. We are thrilled to share this beautiful peaceful space with you. .

We are located on a private 36 acres of mostly woodland. We abut 100 acres of conservation land and another 100 acres of private woodlands.
Park at the end of Farley Rd on the RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. The sites are a short 5 minute hike to the campsites. The property on the left side of Farley Road is private property, no trespassing, be respectful.
There is a marsh and a creek on the property that support myriad wildlife. There are owls, loons, eagles, hawks, hermit thrushes, robins, turkeys, song birds and herons. There are deer, moose, bear(don't leave your food out!), chipmunks, squirrels, opossum, raccoons(don't leave your food out!), skunks, minks, otters and many other species in our neighborhood. We live at the end of a dead end road with very little traffic.
No potable water provided, bring a filter and filter fresh water while you are here. Outhouse is easily accessible for all campers. Just before the Quiet campsite there is a trail for the outhouse on the right.

The meadow filled with water after logging occurred about 70 years ago creating the swamp.

Whether you are up for just hanging at your campsite, exploring the swamp, picnic in the field overlooking the swamp, visiting the animals, or visiting around town, hiking nearby trials, we are here for your stay!
We have easy-to-access rustic style camping accommodations for all sized parties traveling with tents, travel trailers or small campers.
All of our sites offer potable water, solar shower bags, parking, fire pits, and a picnic table.
Welcome Center! complete with a game section, dry firewood bundles, water, fire starter kits, also, extra supplies for purchase such as drinking water, bug spray and some homemade items, eggs, toiletries and some other items to purchase with cash (honor system) or Venmo or PayPal. Check it out! You don't need to purchase extras online if you'd rather pay here with a cost savings for you :)
Onsite also, is a small library inside the Carraige House, let me know if you need a book. The old greenhouse has extra firewood available for your needs, located between 8 and 9 - also some items for you, to use, rent or purchase.

Common Area-Strickly foot traffic only, this is a space to enjoy the open sky with a table, firepit and a grill for anyone's use. If you don't want to bring a grill and don't want to cook on grates. It is a first come first serve basis. But maybe your neighbors' will all come and cook with you?
Cornhole!! Setup on weekends along the drive and next to the Common Area, find the bags in Welcome Center. The Shelf has many games, please return when not in use.
Once you are confirmed an email is sent offering places around this beautiful town that you may visit at your leisure, including Shaker Village, Canterbury Ale works, Canterbury Woods Golf course, Hackleboro Orchards, our own Canterbury Country Store-1 mile away, Cold Garden Sprits is a new small distillery that is fascinating!
If you need more city life amenities like grocery stores or restaurants, the capitol city of Concord to the south, and the town of Tilton and Laconia to the north, are a breeze to access and are less than 20 minutes away.
Direct bookings and advanced reservations are no problem, and we also try to accommodate last minute bookings whenever we can.

Days can be filled with hiking or mountain bike trails for you alone! (10 exclusive acres of the 250) Visit nearby, loon inhabited, Walker Pond where fishing or kayaking are a favorite pastime. In the evenings, you can drop into Concord, NH…a short 20 minute ride for dinner or all the nightlife and shopping our capital city has to offer. We’d instead recommend staying right on the property-the sweeping sunsets won’t be surpassed. Grill your kabobs right over the open fire or in the propane provided grill. You know what follows…s’mores by your private campfire where the stars are brightest in the middle of this 250 acre farm. It’s sure to put a twinkle in your eye! It could seem difficult to pull yourself away, but the luxuriously appointed queen bed is sure to beckon you for a restful night…keep the many screened windows open!
Please be aware there are two security cameras, one at the entrance and one at the Owls Nest Guest Only Sign. There are no cameras around the cabin.

A quiet, small, and very comfortable place to camp. There’s some good hiking trails nearby, and Barbie is incredibly gracious. Because it is small, the sites are a little close, but there was more than enough room. Very easy to get to and a wonderful spot.

I had a relaxing stay at site #1 for two nights. It was nice to be able to park my motorcycle loaded with all my gear close to the site. Firewood set up was great and appreciated, as I arrived late on Friday and it was already dark. Others mentioned the highway noise but I think the sound of the running brook drowned out the noise. Slept like a rock both nights. The site was beautiful and well maintained. Directions were spot on. My only complaint would be that I didn’t have more time to explore the property and surrounding scenic areas.. also, that Mother Nature wasn’t very kind on Sunday… nothing like packing up in the rain lol. I will definitely be back for another stay!! Thanks again Peter, for providing a relaxing retreat!

Staying here was such a fun, memorable experience. Site 5 was level and easy to set up, which made for a great night’s sleep. Coffee with the alpacas was a highlight — even in the rain, we didn’t mind at all. Sipping hot coffee while spending time with them was such a unique experience. They’re beautiful, friendly, and full of personality, and it was fun to see how curious they were about us too. We’d absolutely come back.

Only drawback was we struggled to sustain a strong fire with the wood which could have been more dry so we wound up gathering sticks to burn, but that’s likely just due to the early part of the season. It’s a peaceful spot, no distant highway noises, just forest and chirping. We camped at the Communal campsite which was a 10 minute walk from the parking area with slight inclines and dips, so wheeling a cooler in might be tough. The site itself felt very private, and I couldn’t see nor hear the other sites. The outhouse had toilet paper provided, and it didn’t reek. There was plenty of tinder, kindling, and larger sticks within 50ft of the site, but a shed with firewood was available for $5 cash per bundle. There was no cell signal until we were back on paved roads.

This place was great! Our site was perfect and our host was kind and helpful. We camped at site 10. Just a few steps from our tentsite was a small pond. There were herons nesting in a tree on the pond, beavers cruising around, white-tailed deer making their way across the field on the far side...tons of wildlife. It was a great trip.

We stayed at Site 5 (Jesse James Hideout) and loved how private it felt — level ground, surrounded by trees, with a nice view of the sky. The firewood we bought was exactly what we needed for the night. We spent the evening by the fire reading and relaxing, and both slept incredibly well — my husband said it was his best night of sleep in months. Elle was a fantastic host — very kind, responsive, and genuinely helpful. She gave great kayaking recommendations and shared a local trail booklet, which made the stay even better. We can’t wait to come back and explore more.

Our troop had a fantastic weekend at Elle’s Land. We loved the beautiful sunset and making s’mores around the campfire—it was such a memorable experience. The campsite is clean, cozy, and well-equipped with everything we needed. We also went on a backpacking hike at Knowlton Forest Trails, which was absolutely amazing. Overall, a 10/10 experience—we’d definitely come back!

This was our second time booking Peter’s campsite. The first time we came, everything was covered in snow, so we didn’t really get into the campsite.
This time, we chose a spot right by the river. Falling asleep to the sound of the water and waking up with sunlight shining into the tent was such a beautiful experience.
What we really love about this place is how private it feels. Even if the campground is full in the summer, you can’t see other sites nearby — it still feels quiet and secluded.
We will definitely come back again. I’m sure it will feel completely different in the summer.

We originally booked another campsite, but it turned out to be really disappointing, so we decided to cancel last minute and look for another option. That’s when we found Peter.
When we arrived, the ground was still covered in snow and we had trouble finding the way in. Peter immediately came out to meet us and personally guided us to the site, which we really appreciated.
Since we were the only ones camping that night, he kindly told us to pick any spot we liked. The place itself is very private, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful — there’s even a small waterfall nearby, which made the experience even more special.
Overall, it turned out to be such a great and memorable stay. Thank you, Peter, for being so helpful and welcoming!

A great camp spot. We spent two cold snowy nights here. Space was big enough for our 10x10 hot tent. Barbie was very kind and we enjoyed meeting the chickens, cats, and alpacas. We highly recommend someday farm. Each site is unique in size. Thank you for a great weekend!
