A literal 30 acre pocket of paradise tucked away just minutes North of Columbia, MO. Here you’ll find a private lake with fishing access, rolling hills with stunning sunrises and sunsets, plenty of space to reset with nature, perfect for a glamping getaway. We have 3 separate sites on the property. Narrative about Selby Farm:
Selbys have lived on this farm since 1990. Doug and Brenda are retired from teaching at nearby public schools. Our Farm is now dedicated to boarding retired horses for their owners.
We practice rotational grazing for the health of the horses and the health of our pastures. The horses live in a herd as they would in the wild. Basically, they are hanging out with their friends! They also get regular care and feed and so are VERY happy. You will see and probably interact with the horses if you wish. They are guaranteed to come closer if you have treats like carrots and apples slices.
Our quiet county road used to be the main road along the river. A hundred years ago it was called "Shanty Road". The shacks that were along it housed workers that harvested food from farms in the river bottom. The only evidence of those shacks now is perrenial flowers growing in unusual places. The area is inhabited by professionals working in nearby towns and cities. In fact there are only five homes along our 1.5 mile section of Copps Chapel Road.
The native Americans who used this area did so because of the great diversity of wildlife and availability of water. Also the view is amazing in all directions. Was using this ridge top encampment for security, or just because the view is so satisfying?
The Missouri River is on the far side of the bottoms now, but has been very close historically. There is also a large spring flowing from a cave nearby. These river hills are composed of soils blown in from the end of the last ice age. Being near the river, erosion has cut down the surrounding area making the scenic topography associated with Missouri River valleys and river hills.

You can park in the driveway, then hike around and set up a secluded tent campsite anywhere on our 50 acres of wooded land. The site listing numbers you see on this map are simply for general reference, you can camp anywhere you please. Also, the only vehicle access is the driveway and large open field you see on the map here. Folks with roof top tents or campers or RV's can set up camp anywhere in this field, along the edge of the woods. The remaining acreage is heavily wooded and hilly with creeks running through. At this time, vehicles cannot penetrate the woods. Pinnacle Park is a simple walk down the road/hill from our land. You can have fun hiking, splashing in the creek, playing in the sand and rock climbing at the Pinnacle's. Pinnacle Park also has nice shelters for picnics with fireplaces and restrooms. We offer a water hydrant on our land, but no electric or bathrooms.

We have 7 - 12x14 box stalls with fans and bucket hooks, we have a 40x40 outdoor wooden paddock, we have a 120x100 outdoor arena, we offer free wifi to our guests. Reservations are required, we get busy spring through fall. We run a program for Service and Assistance dogs called Paws for Hearts COMO, we breed German Shepherds, raise and train for disabled vets, and children with disabilities, all completely donated from the dogs to the training. There are cats, dogs, chickens and horses here. Friendly people, we are laid back, warm and welcoming. We will do everything in our power to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

Beautiful, peaceful location. The kids loved seeing and petting the horses along with the opportunity for a hike with the dogs and a bike ride. Electric hook ups and potable water were great along with fire pits and picnic tables. It was a short drive from where we live but made us feel a little more secluded. The owners are fantastic. They checked in once or twice and couldn't be friendlier. We'll definitely be back.
PS- only toilet is a clean, well-kept port-a-potty but that didn't bother us in the least. Just an FYI for those wondering.

Wonderful Hipcamp with owners who care. We had one of three full hook up sites (as good as you’ll find anywhere) with a view across a paddock with horses and donkeys in a gorgeous setting. After a long drive, with Truck and Trailer, great to pull through into a super easy spot to both arrive, set up, and depart. We were there to visit Hannibal (Mark Twain etc) but clearly lots of great outdoor adventures to be had near by on lakes and reservoirs. Full marks and thank you!

This spot was exactly what we were hoping for—total privacy and beautiful, open land. The gravel site made setup effortless, and having the pond right there made the whole experience feel so calm and special. It felt like our own little escape, far from everything. My family of four stayed the night passing through. Wish we could have stayed longer. Very charming ranch and we got to hang out and meet the horses, donkeys, chase some chickens. Even gave some treats out😁. Hosts were super friendly and shared their love and knowledge of animals. Would stay here again for sure. Remember it's the second right after the church. 😂

Our first night at the Selby Farm was fantastic! Doug & Brenda stopped by to greet us & provided a long 30 amp extension cord to reach our RV. Looked out our window the next morning & got to see 8 horses in the pasture! Unfortunately on our second night we had severe weather roll into the area with strong winds, heavy rain & the possibility of tornadoes. We opted not to stay due to the severe weather. We would have loved to extend our stay.

It was a perfect place for us to overnight in our Revel while traveling through the area. There is a nice pond and woodsy area with plenty of privacy. We weren’t able to check out the pond due to cold temps. 🥶 We’d definitely stay here again!
