Shallow and deep all throughout. Great for wading, swimming, floating, kayaking. Great small mouth fishing! We are approximately one mile by water from the St. Francois River. We have kayaked down the creek to the river for many years.
The farm is very rural. We are 16 miles to the closest gas station, and 25 miles to town. There is no internet. Cell phone service is spotty at best.
Currently a working farm, we have 2 high tunnels on the property behind the house, and our original market garden.
Across the creek we are finishing up our 5 acre agroforestry planting. 3 acres of elderberries and 2 acres of blackberries.
28 acres, 3 on one side, and 25 on the other.
The farm is located approximately 2 hours south of St. Louis.
Fredericktown is 30 mins away. Food, Drinks, Golf, and Lalo's Mexican Restaurant! There are a ton of local antique shops, and outdoor activities.

Harless is a great host. The area is some of the most beautiful land in Missouri. The sites are grass and some tree shelter. The camp is immediately adjacent to the Caster river and Amidon Memorial Conservation Area. There is a portable restroom that was stocked and as clean as one would expect.

I have driven by this area for years and always wanted to stay there. The primitive camp areas are large and spread apart. The access to the castor river, and to Amidon Memorial Conservation Area are unparalleled. The sites are adjacent to a gravel road which could cause some dust in dry weather. The road is typically only used for people visiting the shut-ins so traffic is minimal. Harless is an attentive and kind host. The portable restroom was clean and well stocked.

Weekend Trip to Eminence Cottages and Camp
This little cedar "shack" cabin is adorable! Our stay was super comfortable, because the cabin is stocked with everything we could have needed: dishes, towels, bed linens, pillows, the whole 9 yards! They even provided dish soap and a sponge to wash any dishes we used. The cabin itself is super clean and smells like the cedar wood it's build with! There are 2 AC units, one in the main area and one in the bedroom. They were more than enough to keep us cool even when outdoor temps were in the "feels like 106°" range! The location of the cabin is super easy to access from side entrance without having to drive though the whole campground, and parking was convenient: right in front of the cabin. The HUGE porch was perfect for sitting on the rocker and watching the July 4th fireworks, although they were slightly obstructed by the tree line. This is our third stay at ECC, and our first in the Cedar Shack (we've stayed in the glamping tent twice before), and as always, Sandy was a great host - always super friendly and informative. Check in and check out are quick and simple, and the pricing was very reasonable. We will definitely be back to stay again! :)

It’s a lovely cozy campground in nature on the Castor River. The water is nice for small children and adults as it is shallow at the beach, yet there are deeper swim holes to get to. Harless is the host with the most and made us feel welcome and happily answered any questions we had. We stayed at Campsite 5 for three nights and it was lovely. Made friends with other campers and it was a wonderful getaway. Thanks, Harless! We’re planing on coming back!

1 night at Lakeside Tipi Retreat
I loved my stay at Potosi camp! From the very first sight of the campsite, I felt peaceful and welcomed. Jim and Cindy treated me so warmly and made the experience extra special. They even prepared delicious muffins and surprised me with a sweet welcome and birthday board in the kitchen — such a thoughtful touch that truly made my day.
The camp lights at night created such a beautiful and cozy atmosphere. I slept like a baby, and waking up to the sounds of birds and flowing water was something I’ll never forget. It felt so calm, refreshing, and close to nature.

Weekend Trip to Lakeside Tipi Retreat
Very private! The tipi is huge, the lake is beautiful, and the rushing water in the creek is heard from the tipi and the lake while lounging in their rafts! The “bath house” is stocked with all the lake toys, a kitchenette with anything we would have needed, and a very clean bathroom with a shower. The hosts are so kind and personable and gifted us a bouquet of flowers for our anniversary and a dozen eggs from their hens when we left. There are multiple trails to walk on the property, but the deck the tipi sits on with the beautiful wooden rocking chairs overlooking the lake kept us relaxed by the fire for most of our stay! Myself, my husband, son, and nephew stayed 2 nights at site #3. It was very beautiful, peaceful and felt completely safe. The site was spacious and the swimming hole was cool and crystal clear. There was even a need to change dates and Melissa’s allowed us to do to avoid strong storms moving through. We will definitely stay there again!

Beautiful, private, property. The owner
(I believe), Harley, was so sweet and welcoming he drove in to check on everyone who reserved sites and even offered us firewood because he saw that we got some unexpected rain and had none. It was so peaceful and clean and so close to the river banks. The water wasn’t very deep but it was clean and clear and cool. Will definitely be coming back again.
