The Hamlet Lake homestead is our 10-acre family home with two unique and private hip-camp sites. We have both lakeshore (in front) and a hobby farm with cows, chickens and goats in our back lawn and woods. The Hamlet Lake Bunkhouse is located to the west of our home in its own secluded parcel next to the lake. The Camp on Hamlet Hill (closed for 2026) is to the north of our home, on a remote flat hill at the top of our property, on a hill over Cedar brook. with 300-acre, (private) Hamlet Lake in front, and the wide portion of the 20-mile Cedar brook in the back. We are a large "homesteading" family, with chickens, ducks, and a garden. The campsite is a private 1/2 acre clearing, surrounded by woods with a firepit, grill, cooking utensils, and an outhouse. (Tents are available for a small additional cost). There is an outdoor water pump below the hill, near which guests can view our fenced-in animals. Guests can also access the waterfront and beach in front, with the use of the swim raft, lily pad, fishing dock, canoe, kayak, and paddle boards included. At nearly 100 feet deep, Hamlet lake also boasts excellent fishing. Our home is located 6 miles from Crosby, with the world-class Cuyuna Lakes 50-mile mountain bike trail system. Crosby is a growing tourist town with many new and unique restaurants, outdoor adventures, and shopping opportunities. The paved bike trail begins 3.5 north of us. Milacs lake is 10 miles to the south.

Our yurt sits on the edge of a wild woods on the banks of the Cloquet River overlooking a meadow that is an active forest restoration project currently in process. From your door, you can access a loop of trails that wind through the woods, to the river and back to the yurt. Get back to basics. There is no electricity or running water in the yurt. Camp lanterns and solar lights are provided as is refillable fresh water and a propane camp stove/oven with pots/pans/utensils. The yurt is heated solely by a wood stove and there is plenty of firewood a short distance away with a sled or wagon to use for hauling. A campfire pit is just outside the yurt with a hanging grill and grilling tools. A detached outhouse is a short walk from the yurt and is for your use alone when you're here. In the winter, a Luggable Loo is available to bring to the yurt to eliminate trips at night in the cold to the outhouse. The yurt contains a queen bed with linens and a single camp cot available on request.  Dogs are welcome in the yurt! We charge a $25 pet fee per reservation. How we ended up in Knife Lake Township on 81 acres of forested land. We began looking for land in late fall of 1996. After several months of searching, we happened upon a tiny newspaper ad for 81 acres of land described as "Beautiful, secluded, mature hardwoods, tall pines w/creek & beaver pond, many gd bldg sites & great hunting". We toured the property, covered in almost two feet of snow, on a snowmobile in January 1997 and fell in love with it. We have been stewards of this piece of land for 25 years and are still enamored of its beauty and diversity. We are lulled to sleep by the sounds of owls and bullfrogs and the distant yipping of coyotes. Spring through fall we are often awakened by the rattling, honking of sandhill cranes and a wide variety of bird songs. Besides deer and lots of small critters, we've seen bear, bobcat, rafters of turkeys, quail, grouse, pheasant, owls, hawks and eagles. The sky, on a clear night, is breathtaking. We have always visualized sharing the land with others, so come and immerse yourself in this bountiful space.

The bunkhouse was great for a couple overnights while visiting with out-of-town relatives who were staying at Ruttgers (just a few miles away). It was nice to have a little escape from the resort hoopla. The lake was serene and the visit up the hill to the chickens brought back memories.

Beautiful land and the overlook of the meadows from the cabin's front side was quite something. Great little cabin, and we had fun listening to some of the vinyl records on the turntable! Weather was too hot for us to want to make a campfire but the fire pit area set aside for doing so was picture perfect.

We had such a great time in the camper cabin. The kids loved the beach and the adults enjoyed the beautiful sunsets. The camper was well stocked with all the little extras. We had a fantastic stay at the farm! Absolutely beautiful lodging and landscape, and a great experience for my young kids to learn about regenerative agriculture.

Weekend Trip to Rustic River Retreat

Hardly rustic. The bed and the accommodations were very comfortable. The pics don’t do it justice. We enjoyed talking with the laid-back, dog-friendly campers nearby. The shared fire ring, kitchen and table were inviting, but we didn’t make time for that. We did however walk down through the woods to the river a couple of times. The surrounding woods and ferns are exactly what we hoped for!

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful cabin! It has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing getaway. This was truly one of the best trips we took this summer. We had the chance to meet the host, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making our stay even more special. Spending the evening around a campfire by the lake was unforgettable—it was peaceful, relaxing, and the perfect way to enjoy nature. If you’re looking for a place to unwind and create wonderful memories, I highly recommend this cabin. It’s definitely worth visiting, and we can’t wait to come back!

This was our second time staying in the forest camper and both times were absolutely magical! We loved the land, the field, and all the homey touches in the camper! Smores (supplies provided!) every night at the campfire was a wonderful touch and Kyle and Kelcie were so sweet! We will be back again and again!

Wonderful secluded cabin. Exceeded our expectations. Rustic but not outdated, with all the amenities. Very tranquil, quiet location. Listening to the loons each morning and evening was perfect. Would definitely visit again.

Weekend Trip to Bundo's Cabin

We loved Bundo's cabin! There were six of us staying—two moms and four boys—and there was plenty of space for everyone. The boys had so much room to run around and play, and we loved being able to set up a tent for them while the moms slept comfortably in the cabin. There was also plenty of room to set up a screened canopy, which made relaxing outside bug-free (though the bugs weren't bad to begin with!). The stargazing meadow was absolutely beautiful at night and made for a memorable evening. The cabin had everything we needed, including air conditioning, which was a welcome escape from the sweltering heat. We also loved the record player and the thoughtful selection of albums—it was such a fun, unique touch. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

4 nights at Harvest Loon Camp

Had a wonderful weekend at Harvest Loon Camp. All of the amenities far exceeded expectations! The beds were comfortable, the cabin was air conditioned and the bathroom was newly renovated. Bonus points for being dog friendly! Robert was very responsive to questions throughout our trip. Highly recommend staying here - one of the best Hipcamp experiences we've had!
