About half of the 20 acres is wooded, which is where three of our camp sites, Hammock Haven are located. Each site has a fire ring & picnic table. Three camp sites are located in the pasture. One is at the bottom of the pasture (1) and quite open. It can accommodate larger groups with multiple tents. It can also take a larger RV. A more secluded site (5) is half open and half in light woods., and is located at the top of the pasture. The others are in the middle of the pasture, 2 for sun lovers and 3 for those who prefer more shade. For those who prefer more seclusion, we have cleared three sites in the woods. All sites have a fire ring, or metal fire pit, and picnic table. Some have fire wood boxes (we’re working on making a box for all sites). We have an outdoor propane shower that provides both hot and cold water. This is free. A coffee bar is on the back deck. Coffee is brewing around 7am. We also provide hot water, teas, hot chocolate and cider. Feeling a little peckish before breakfast, or after dinner? Help yourself to a snack. This is all free, though small donations are welcomed. Our goats, poultry, pigs, rabbits, cats and dogs and produce take up about an acre and a half. Then the rest is open space. You are welcome to collect eggs for breakfast and fresh produce from our gardens (additional fee). Use the BBQ or smoker. And even join in on farm chores if you are so inclined. The Retreat Campsites are situated on land owned by the Red Spirit Retreat Center. The beautiful wooded land is perfect for walking in. The stars are like brilliant diamonds, and in mid June the fireflies float up from the prairie into the trees by the hundreds. It is pretty quiet except for the birds and the bullfrogs and your own crackling campfire. In the spring the fruit trees can be seen blooming across the fields. Straw is grown on the neighbor's farm and cut and baled midsummer. The farm buildings are off in the distance but have gleaming white buildings and silver silos. Guests may walk wherever they like on trails or bushwhack through the forests of the Red Spirit Retreat Center. Each campsite is unique and pretty private. While you may see other campers you probably can't hear them as they are about half a city block away through the trees. Staying at the Country Dome Home is an amazing experience. Located on a hill at the top of the prairie, the view of farms and forests is spectacular. To enjoy the view, the front window is 8 feet tall and 11 feet wide. The 12 foot ceiling enlarges the room tremendously. There is an awesome feeling of spaciousness. On a warm day 8 foot wide by 3 foot high screens can be opened up to let and with the screen door to let breezes blow through. The solar fan then pulls the heat right out of the roof. Outside there is a patio sail providing shade. A lovely dinner can be cooked on a propane griddle while watching the view. Refurbished Jordan Brown Tamiami table and chairs and a chaise lounge provide comfortable seating. Deck chairs are out on the front deck as well. Sitting around the campfire is a great way to end the day. About 9 pm hundreds or thousands of fireflies slowly make their way to the tops of the huge trees and the stars start to twinkle as the sun sets. The birds, crickets, and bullfrogs gradually quiet down, lulling you to sleep in the most comfortable bed in the world. You feel at one with nature.. Stay at the dome in the fall or early spring and the wood stove will keep you toasty warm on chilly nights. Three rustic campsites with their own personalities are also on the land but hidden by trees. The Frog Pond Campsite is a in a sylvan glade next to the pond and creek, with parking immediately next to the campsite. The Edges and Deep Forest Campsites are both larger campsites that are located inside the forest near the Prairie. These sites are separated far enough apart to allow for a very private feeling. Each campsite has parking space very close by. All campsites have their own private composting toilets, fire pits, one bundle of wood, sanitary spray, toilet paper, and at least three gallons of water. At the Deer Blind more wood is available at the Deer Blind for $10 per bundle with Venmo or PayPal. There are two yoga mats, frisbees, bubbles, and a corn hole game for borrowing. You may request a one night stay, but it is dependent upon my availability to clean in between guests. We hope that our guests have a truly beautiful, quiet, and relaxing stay.

Enjoy your morning coffee while relaxing on the large deck to the sound of running water meandering to the Koi pond. Grill steaks on one of the BBQ grills. Toast marshmallows at the little table fire pit on the the deck or down at the campfire circle. Take a stroll around the property and enjoy the gardens. Many varieties of vegetation, flowers, trees, herbs and vegetables. On the north edge of the property is the old 1900 hay barn. It was moved to the property in the 1950’s and has several unique qualities, and is available for weddings or boutique event venue.

As you turn off the main road into our cabin's driveway, you will begin to understand why this is our hidden gem. Enjoy the coziness of a wood stove in the winter or a crackling fire in seclusion in the summer- this little getaway cabin is sure to create fond memories. Maybe you will hear the horned owl at night or see an eagle while you kayak. Your adventure or a peaceful vacation awaits. The kitchen has a two-burner stove and oven that can hold a 9x13 pan. Although we do not have running water, we do have a hand-washing sink and a sink for washing dishes. We also provide you with plenty of water for washing and drinking during your stay. As it is well water, you may want to take your own drinking water, if you prefer. We also have dishes, utensils, hot dog sticks, fry pie makers, pots and pans, a tripod grill for over the fire, and a small charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal). You will also want to bring a cooler to keep any food cold. Outside, we have a fire pit, wood to collect or purchase, and a hammock to fully enjoy your stay. Our bathroom is an outhouse and has been described as the “cleanest outhouse in Michigan.” Our latest addition is a seasonal rustic outdoor shower! We provide water that is heated by solar power (or you can heat some on the stove to hurry the process!) The shower is seasonal - only available from May to September. Within 1/4 mile is the St. Joe River which is a great place for kayaking. We also have kayaks and quads for rent. We also have some short trails on the property and a railroad bed adjacent to the cabin area. Our cabin is powered by a small and very quiet Honda generator. It is super easy to start. The cabin’s main source of heat is a wood stove with wood we provide. An air conditioner is provided for the summer. For more than two people will be an additional $10 per night per person. Pets are a $25 per pet additional fee. Pets are not to be on furniture and not to be taken into the loft for their protection.

The Retreat Campsites are situated on land owned by the Red Spirit Retreat Center. The beautiful wooded land is perfect for walking in. The stars are like brilliant diamonds, and in mid June the fireflies float up from the prairie into the trees by the hundreds. It is pretty quiet except for the birds and the bullfrogs and your own crackling campfire. In the spring the fruit trees can be seen blooming across the fields. Straw is grown on the neighbor's farm and cut and baled midsummer. The farm buildings are off in the distance but have gleaming white buildings and silver silos. Guests may walk wherever they like on trails or bushwhack through the forests of the Red Spirit Retreat Center. Each campsite is unique and pretty private. While you may see other campers you probably can't hear them as they are about half a city block away through the trees. Staying at the Country Dome Home is an amazing experience. Located on a hill at the top of the prairie, the view of farms and forests is spectacular. To enjoy the view, the front window is 8 feet tall and 11 feet wide. The 12 foot ceiling enlarges the room tremendously. There is an awesome feeling of spaciousness. On a warm day 8 foot wide by 3 foot high screens can be opened up to let and with the screen door to let breezes blow through. The solar fan then pulls the heat right out of the roof. Outside there is a patio sail providing shade. A lovely dinner can be cooked on a propane griddle while watching the view. Refurbished Jordan Brown Tamiami table and chairs and a chaise lounge provide comfortable seating. Deck chairs are out on the front deck as well. Sitting around the campfire is a great way to end the day. About 9 pm hundreds or thousands of fireflies slowly make their way to the tops of the huge trees and the stars start to twinkle as the sun sets. The birds, crickets, and bullfrogs gradually quiet down, lulling you to sleep in the most comfortable bed in the world. You feel at one with nature.. Stay at the dome in the fall or early spring and the wood stove will keep you toasty warm on chilly nights. Three rustic campsites with their own personalities are also on the land but hidden by trees. The Frog Pond Campsite is a in a sylvan glade next to the pond and creek, with parking immediately next to the campsite. The Edges and Deep Forest Campsites are both larger campsites that are located inside the forest near the Prairie. These sites are separated far enough apart to allow for a very private feeling. Each campsite has parking space very close by. All campsites have their own private composting toilets, fire pits, one bundle of wood, sanitary spray, toilet paper, and at least three gallons of water. At the Deer Blind more wood is available at the Deer Blind for $10 per bundle with Venmo or PayPal. There are two yoga mats, frisbees, bubbles, and a corn hole game for borrowing. You may request a one night stay, but it is dependent upon my availability to clean in between guests. We hope that our guests have a truly beautiful, quiet, and relaxing stay.

Inn Between the Lakes is a unique location surrounded by farm fields. It's a 1880’s farm house, old barn and newer cottage sit on just under two acres. The main floor of the home is occupied by the owner. Accommodations are available on the second floor of the house, in the cottage, and on the grounds. The upstairs second floor of the home has its own access and is separate from the rest of the house. Three private bedrooms share bathrooms and a porch/living room with a fabulous view. Completely renovated in 2023. This included adding a shared kitchenette, remodeling each bedroom, the bathroom and adding a powder room. Across the deck is the cottage. The newly remodeled suite features a king bed, cotton sheets, a convenient kitchenette, ADA friendly bathroom, private patio and deck. Set up your tent or RV under a lovely shady tree or near the limitless expanse of a waving corn field. Enjoy your morning coffee while relaxing on the large deck to the sound of running water meandering to the Koi pond. Grill steaks on one of the BBQ grills. Toast marshmallows at the little table fire pit on the the deck or down at the campfire circle. Take a stroll around the property and enjoy the gardens. Many varieties of vegetation, flowers, trees, herbs and vegetables. On the north edge of the property is the old 1900 hay barn. It was moved to the property in the 1950’s and has several unique qualities, and is available for weddings or boutique event venue.

Need a quiet, secluded getaway? Our off-grid cabin is on approximately 10 acres of private woods. As you turn off the main road into our cabin's driveway, you will begin to understand why this is our hidden gem. Enjoy the coziness of a wood stove in the winter or a crackling fire in seclusion in the summer- this little getaway cabin is sure to create fond memories. Maybe you will hear the horned owl at night or see an eagle while you kayak. Your adventure or a peaceful vacation awaits. The 450-square-foot cabin has a queen bed in the loft and two cots that can accommodate more guests. Guests must be able to climb a wooden log ladder. The kitchen has a two-burner stove and oven that can hold a 9x13 pan. Although we do not have running water, we do have a hand-washing sink and a sink for washing dishes. We also provide you with plenty of water for washing and drinking during your stay. As it is well water, you may want to take your own drinking water, if you prefer. We also have dishes, utensils, hot dog sticks, fry pie makers, pots and pans, a tripod grill for over the fire, and a small charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal). You will also want to bring a cooler to keep any food cold. Outside, we have a fire pit, wood to collect or purchase, and a hammock to fully enjoy your stay. Our bathroom is an outhouse and has been described as the “cleanest outhouse in Michigan.” Our latest addition is a seasonal rustic outdoor shower! We provide water that is heated by solar power (or you can heat some on the stove to hurry the process!) The shower is seasonal - only available from May to September. Within 1/4 mile is the St. Joe River which is a great place for kayaking. We also have kayaks and quads for rent. We also have some short trails on the property and a railroad bed adjacent to the cabin area. Our cabin is powered by a small and very quiet Honda generator. It is super easy to start. The cabin’s main source of heat is a wood stove with wood we provide. An air conditioner is provided for the summer. For more than two people will be an additional $10 per night per person. Pets are a $25 per pet additional fee. Pets are not to be on furniture and not to be taken into the loft for their protection.

Oh man! What an amazing place. Great private spot, great host, very accommodating and friendly, would 100% stay here again. Definitely a back in site as advertised we had a 30 foot travel trailer. But It was not too bad to navigate. Concrete drive and level. Very quiet the whole week. Duck hunting season was happening during our visit so the mornings but I actually enjoyed listening to that in the morning while walking the dog. Great outdoors experience, quiet neighborhood

This was our first time using Hipcamp and it was a great experience. Place looks just like the pictures, beautiful and cozy. Far away from town to feel like you've gotten away but close enough that you can run and grab something at walmart or get a bite to eat if you don't feel like cooking. Scott was a great host, we were having a hard time getting our fire going since it had been raining a few days before. He came to our rescue and we sat and enjoyed chatting for the evening. Inside the camper was a cute little smore set up that we took advantage of. It was clean and spacious. You could tell it's been taken great care of. Will definitely be back!

We saw deer and turkey in the mornings, sipping coffee by the fire. I don't know where to begin? The place was beautiful upon entry! Beautiful cats to play with everywhere! My son was in heaven :-) we made great friends with a black kitty named Olivia. She hung out with us while we were camping and even shared some of our breakfast eggs! The pathways were lit at night, the TP that we stayed in was and beautiful condition, clean, well stocked with cleaning supplies and a trash can if needed. We had a bundle of wood that was plentiful! The staff was extremely helpful getting me to my site and making sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed! There are vegetables for sale, as well as delicious salsa! The property is extremely well kept and beautiful to look at! Very serene. We had our own fire pit and picnic table also. The campsites were very private, which I really liked. I was very happy that I did not have to share a fire pit with other campers. This was a last-minute trip for my son's 11th birthday and well worth the drive from detroit! We will definitely be back with the rest of the family! I highly recommend two chicks and a farm!

We had such a wonderful three-night stay! The hosts were absolutely exceptional—so welcoming and kind that by the time we left, it felt like we were saying goodbye to friends. They went above and beyond, even providing toys and activities for our 15-month-old, which made the trip extra special for her. The amenities were fantastic, from the well-equipped outdoor kitchen to their thoughtful help with a few things we had forgotten to pack. The campsite itself was private and beautifully maintained, with peaceful trails to walk and explore right from our spot. Our toddler loved playing with the fun animals on the property and had the best time, and honestly, so did we. This was such a memorable trip, and we’re so grateful to have found such amazing hosts!

What an incredible place. So peaceful, so secluded, exactly what we were hoping for. We only stayed one night for this trip, and we all wished we could have stayed longer so we will definitely be planning a longer stay in the future. The bed was very comfortable, I always worry about that when staying at places away from home. We did have to relocate a few 8-legged friends from inside the yurt when we first arrived, but they didn’t put up too much of a fight. We got rain during the night, and my new favorite thing is sleeping in a yurt while it’s raining. It was heaven. I love how the yurt is nestled under pines, it’s such a good spot.
