We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history. Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work! It has all the things you want after a day(s) out in the wilderness, with amenities like a hot shower, fully stocked kitchen, linens and more. Our property reflects our love of the land and space. We are always making improvements, such as the timber framed chicken coop. We now have a ping pong table for our guests, and still offer farm fresh eggs. Norm's Log Cabin started out as a back 40 acre camp from the 1970's. Hunting is not Allowed on Property. Over the years we have taken time to make some improvements. We have acquire additional adjoining property and run some electricity. We have pieced together 160 contiguous acres over the years, and continue to manage the property as a family gathering location as well as doing some occasional log harvesting. This is the place to get away from it all, but still be in striking distance to several attractions. A full service restaurant in La Branch which is a short 12 minute drive SE, and a local hang out called the Red Arrow which is a 5 minute drive NW. The Cabin sits at the end of a long 1/4 mile driveway in the middle of the 160 acre plot of trees. You need to cross Anderson Creek, and drive past another hunting camp near the front entrance. This front 40 acre camp (Anderson Creek Camp) is another more rustic option then Norm's Log Cabin. The road leading to this driveway off of Highway 69 is near the village of Hardwood. Along Highway 69 is a snowmobile/ORV trail managed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and can be easily reached via the gravel road to/from camp. That specific trail is designated as A, and runs the length of Highway 69 and intersects ORV trail AG which would bring you into Escanaba. There is many and frequent ORV activity on this trail, and there are many stopping points for refreshments along the way. Hardwood Impoundment Pond is the closest body of water to Norm's Log Cabin, and can be reached by car or ATV. This impoundment pond is really the back waters of a local dam in the area, and can be fished from the bank or off the bridge that goes across the area. Very easily reachable. Again this is just a place to get away from it all and take in the outdoors. We can supply some ideas of places to visit . . .

There is some erosion on the bank we are currently working on but no beach, its in the process. Pets are allowed but please do not allow off leash or out of small fenced in area. All pet owners must clean up after your pets outside and if you leave for the day you are responsible for them. I recommend kennel trained as they act completely different and strange place. Ours are the same. Owner is around but can not watch pets as we work full time. I can check for a local teen to provide day care if requested. Breakfast foods will be supplied but there will no cooking provided. If you have special requests for breakfast foods please forward that information one week prior to arrival. Our home was recently gutted down to the studs and completely remodeled. We opened up the living room/kitchen area and added a bathroom and brought the washer and dryer up to the main level. There’s a brand new 65” Roku TV in the living room and we have fiber optic wireless internet. We also added a tankless hot water heater so everybody gets a hot shower! We supply a crock pot, blender, drip coffee maker, and all the necessities to cook a meal at home. There’s a nice, large foyer with a bench and a shelf with hooks with plenty of room to store all your coats, bibs, helmets, boots, etc. -Separate rental agreement and security deposit hold required for all reservations.

Our home is less than a mile from the casino in Christmas, Foggy’s Steakhouse, and a gas station. You are only about 5 miles from downtown Munising, where there are Pictured Rocks Cruises, Glass Bottom Boat Tours, Sand Point Beach, waterfalls, etc. In Munising, there is a grocery store (Pat’s Foods), Family Dollar, a couple of hardware stores, and numerous restaurants. There is room to bring a boat if you have one and there is public access to Lake Superior within 5 miles of home. There is also room to bring snowmobile/ATV trailers, and then you can ride from the home to hit the trails. **Signed rental agreement and security deposit hold required for all reservations. The primary guest will need to upload a picture of a government-issued ID and list names and ages of all other guests in their group. **There are 2 exterior audio/video recording devices on the property. Norm's Log Cabin started out as a back 40 acre camp from the 1970's. Hunting is not Allowed on Property. Over the years we have taken time to make some improvements. We have acquire additional adjoining property and run some electricity. We have pieced together 160 contiguous acres over the years, and continue to manage the property as a family gathering location as well as doing some occasional log harvesting. This is the place to get away from it all, but still be in striking distance to several attractions. A full service restaurant in La Branch which is a short 12 minute drive SE, and a local hang out called the Red Arrow which is a 5 minute drive NW. The Cabin sits at the end of a long 1/4 mile driveway in the middle of the 160 acre plot of trees. You need to cross Anderson Creek, and drive past another hunting camp near the front entrance. This front 40 acre camp (Anderson Creek Camp) is another more rustic option then Norm's Log Cabin. The road leading to this driveway off of Highway 69 is near the village of Hardwood. Along Highway 69 is a snowmobile/ORV trail managed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and can be easily reached via the gravel road to/from camp. That specific trail is designated as A, and runs the length of Highway 69 and intersects ORV trail AG which would bring you into Escanaba. There is many and frequent ORV activity on this trail, and there are many stopping points for refreshments along the way. Hardwood Impoundment Pond is the closest body of water to Norm's Log Cabin, and can be reached by car or ATV. This impoundment pond is really the back waters of a local dam in the area, and can be fished from the bank or off the bridge that goes across the area. Very easily reachable. Again this is just a place to get away from it all and take in the outdoors. We can supply some ideas of places to visit . . .

All pet owners must clean up after your pets outside and if you leave for the day you are responsible for them. I recommend kennel trained as they act completely different and strange place. Ours are the same. Owner is around but can not watch pets as we work full time. I can check for a local teen to provide day care if requested. We supply a crock pot, blender, drip coffee maker, and all the necessities to cook a meal at home. The upstairs loft bedroom has 1 king bed, a moveable wall divider for some privacy, a full bathroom, and a small sitting area. The full bathroom has a large soaking tub, rain head shower, and bidet. The basement has 1 bedroom with a king-size bed, a full bathroom, laundry, a ping-pong table, foosball table, dart board, bar area with a kitchenette, a second fridge with freezer, and a walk out to the fire pit. On the front side of the house there is a large mostly covered patio with an outdoor table, chairs, and a charcoal grill. There are so many spaces to gather with friends and family yet still have privacy when you need it. Guests have the entire home to themselves. We do have neighbors so please be mindful of noise and do not wander onto their property. It has a lake view but no lake access from the property.

Our home was recently gutted down to the studs and completely remodeled. We opened up the living room/kitchen area and added a bathroom and brought the washer and dryer up to the main level. There’s a brand new 65” Roku TV in the living room and we have fiber optic wireless internet. We also added a tankless hot water heater so everybody gets a hot shower! We supply a crock pot, blender, drip coffee maker, and all the necessities to cook a meal at home. There’s a nice, large foyer with a bench and a shelf with hooks with plenty of room to store all your coats, bibs, helmets, boots, etc. -Separate rental agreement and security deposit hold required for all reservations.

You are less than a mile from state snowmobile and ATV trails. We are dog-friendly and allow up to 2 dogs with preapproval and $75 non-refundable pet fee. You have full exclusive access to home and yard. Unfortunately, there is no lake access with the home, but it does have a great view of the lake. We are available by text, through booking message center or phone if you have any questions before or during your stay. Our home is less than a mile from the casino in Christmas, Foggy’s Steakhouse, and a gas station. You are only about 5 miles from downtown Munising, where there are Pictured Rocks Cruises, Glass Bottom Boat Tours, Sand Point Beach, waterfalls, etc. In Munising, there is a grocery store (Pat’s Foods), Family Dollar, a couple of hardware stores, and numerous restaurants. There is room to bring a boat if you have one and there is public access to Lake Superior within 5 miles of home. There is also room to bring snowmobile/ATV trailers, and then you can ride from the home to hit the trails. **Signed rental agreement and security deposit hold required for all reservations. The primary guest will need to upload a picture of a government-issued ID and list names and ages of all other guests in their group. **There are 2 exterior audio/video recording devices on the property. One faces the front door of the home with the driveway, and the other faces the back door. They are motion-activated and on 24/7/365. RV was clean and very well stocked on the inside. Interior looked brand new, and the campsite overlooked a pretty meadow surrounded by trees. Cute S'Mores bucket inside with everything you'd need. Convenient location, was able to do an evening hike to Mosquito Beach from this location. Why stay in a campground and spend thousands of dollars on your own RV when you can just stay here! Highly recommend Captain Ron's for fresh, hand-processed whitefish. Thanks Danielle!

Absolutely loved staying here! The chalet is nestled among wildflowers and a mossy pine forest—beautiful both inside and out. It's a small space, but incredibly functional and luxurious. The host was fantastic and went out of their way to accommodate my partner and me in every way we needed. It is about an hour from Pictured Rocks, but the drive is scenic and enjoyable. Lots to do nearby as well (hikes, parks, + you should go to Lakenenland Sculpture Park if you like cool art!!). 10/10, I highly recommend staying at the Prairieview Chalet!

Camp site was great! We stayed at Site 33, check-in was easy, very cute store on site, tent spot was exactly as you want for a camping spot! Campfire circle was ready to go, spot was secluded enough to feel like camping, but with a safe feeling attached. We didn’t manage to meet Tom and Heather personally because our trip was only short, but sweet, but judging by their homely campsite, and what we could see of their life living, they were GREAT people! They look after their campsite, toilets and showers were cleaned, and hot water was great. And perfect for kiddos with the playground and giant games! Location was perfect, a short drive from Lake Superior, we felt close enough to society but with their property on the lake, it also felt like a hidden retreat in the woods. We would absolutely stay again!❤️

This was such a great campsite! The campground was clean and had everything we needed. There was an onsite adorable store with a few grocery needs and lots of little gift store type things. Plenty of wood and fire starter was available for sale too. They offered coin laundry which I didn’t use but it looked very clean and easy to use. All of the staff were very nice and helpful!! There was a kids playground area, private shower and bathroom rooms, and ice cream! I would stay here again and recommend it to anything coming through that area! Some of the sites did seem to have more spice than others. We had site number 4 and that was more than enough space for my two friends and I plus our dog. It was a bit more private with trees in between neighboring sites. Across the little road driving through the campground the sites seemed a bit closer together but looked like everyone had more than enough room for campers and accessories! It was a busy campground with couples, singles traveling, many families, and friend groups which, as three girls traveling, we liked because it felt more safe as opposed to just a few people around!

Hello, and welcome to Superior Times Resort and Campground! We would like to take a moment and introduce ourselves. Our names are Tom and Heather Holmstrom. We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times and Resort was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula…the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.”  In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history.Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work! We began this resort’s transformation by replacing nearly all of the roofs. We then added the campground (we are most proud of the campground, as it did not exist prior to our ownership). In the winters we worked on the inside of the cabins, which is what we continue working on to this day. We have completely remodeled 3 cabins; Eagle Harbor, Copper Harbor and Isle Royal. Smaller projects are being continually worked on in the other cabins. Slowly but surely, we are turning this property into our vision. The harsh winter of 2018/2019 led to two roof collapses and even more work!! In 2020, we designed and built rustic bungalows in our campground for nightly rental. Please, take a walk down Backwoods Alley and check them out. In the winter of 2020/2021, we built new custom showers in 3 cabins and replaced the old siding on Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor. We think the new cedar shakes complete the rustic feel we are aiming for. In the spring of 2021, we added 4 new campsites and built a new bath house for our campers. We also ordered new windows for Tahquamenon Falls and Mackinaw Island, however due to the pandemic we did not receive them in time for installation (insert angry emoji). It has been so rewarding having customers return to this resort and commenting so favorably on the changes we have made! What will 2022 bring? Stay tuned.We could not have done ANY of the resort changes without the help and support of my parents, Roger and Marcia Hart. They sold their own home to live out here full time to be a part of the resort’s transformations. Without them, this dream would not have been possible. They truly define the saying, “labor of love,” as we often can only pay them with love.  Our dream truly became their dream, as well.
