We wanted to become a part of that deep history. Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. Welcome to the Hemlock Ridge Homestead! This custom log home built in the early 2000's was a dream of mine since I was 8 years old. Our family lives here year round and absolutely love it. These sites are on a seasonal road so travel in and out can be impeded at times due to weather or external forces, such as tree falls, wash outs, etc. This is a self sufficient homestead in the making. Our garden has progressed greatly, and our fruit tree orchards are starting to produce. The free range chickens are fun and quirky, offering farm fresh eggs. We just opened our second site, the Prairieview Chalet 2024 summer. Both sites offer great amenities. The Acorn Retreat cabin includes a hot tub, gas weber grill and other amenities. The boujee outhouse is shared by both sites and is cleaned regularly. The new Prairieview Chalet is an exceptional adventurers haven! It has all the things you want after a day(s) out in the wilderness, with amenities like a hot shower, fully stocked kitchen, linens and more. Our property reflects our love of the land and space. We are always making improvements, such as the timber framed chicken coop. We now have a ping pong table for our guests, and still offer farm fresh eggs. Our motto is to make every place better than we found it and hope our guests will do the same. This is a zen, quiet place to heal, reflect and refill your cup of life:)

We then added the campground (we are most proud of the campground, as it did not exist prior to our ownership). In the winters we worked on the inside of the cabins, which is what we continue working on to this day. We have completely remodeled 3 cabins; Eagle Harbor, Copper Harbor and Isle Royal. Smaller projects are being continually worked on in the other cabins. Slowly but surely, we are turning this property into our vision. The harsh winter of 2018/2019 led to two roof collapses and even more work!! In 2020, we designed and built rustic bungalows in our campground for nightly rental. Please, take a walk down Backwoods Alley and check them out. In the winter of 2020/2021, we built new custom showers in 3 cabins and replaced the old siding on Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor. We think the new cedar shakes complete the rustic feel we are aiming for. In the spring of 2021, we added 4 new campsites and built a new bath house for our campers. We also ordered new windows for Tahquamenon Falls and Mackinaw Island, however due to the pandemic we did not receive them in time for installation (insert angry emoji). It has been so rewarding having customers return to this resort and commenting so favorably on the changes we have made! What will 2022 bring? Stay tuned.We could not have done ANY of the resort changes without the help and support of my parents, Roger and Marcia Hart. They sold their own home to live out here full time to be a part of the resort’s transformations. Without them, this dream would not have been possible. They truly define the saying, “labor of love,” as we often can only pay them with love.  Our dream truly became their dream, as well.

This is beautiful place. Your surrounded by trees on 3 sides minus where you pull in. In front of you is the bay. The fire pit has one high side and 3 low sides, which was nice for cooking. There is a picnic table, shovel, rake and ax and a clothes line left to use. There was also enough wood left for 2 or3 fires. Unfortunately it rained as we got there so alot of it was wet. They leave a hose with a sprayer by the entrance on a tree limb for water use. He did also supply the wifi password. You can walk out a good distance in the water before it drops off. Yes, you can hear some traffic from the main rd. But its more of background noise. The sunrise is not "in your face" nor is the sunset, it goes down behind some mts. But the bay is in the west side

Absolutely loved staying here! The chalet is nestled among wildflowers and a mossy pine forest—beautiful both inside and out. It's a small space, but incredibly functional and luxurious. The host was fantastic and went out of their way to accommodate my partner and me in every way we needed. It is about an hour from Pictured Rocks, but the drive is scenic and enjoyable. Lots to do nearby as well (hikes, parks, + you should go to Lakenenland Sculpture Park if you like cool art!!). 10/10, I highly recommend staying at the Prairieview Chalet!

Camp site was great! We stayed at Site 33, check-in was easy, very cute store on site, tent spot was exactly as you want for a camping spot! Campfire circle was ready to go, spot was secluded enough to feel like camping, but with a safe feeling attached. We didn’t manage to meet Tom and Heather personally because our trip was only short, but sweet, but judging by their homely campsite, and what we could see of their life living, they were GREAT people! They look after their campsite, toilets and showers were cleaned, and hot water was great. And perfect for kiddos with the playground and giant games! Location was perfect, a short drive from Lake Superior, we felt close enough to society but with their property on the lake, it also felt like a hidden retreat in the woods. We would absolutely stay again!❤️

This was such a great campsite! The campground was clean and had everything we needed. There was an onsite adorable store with a few grocery needs and lots of little gift store type things. Plenty of wood and fire starter was available for sale too. They offered coin laundry which I didn’t use but it looked very clean and easy to use. All of the staff were very nice and helpful!! There was a kids playground area, private shower and bathroom rooms, and ice cream! I would stay here again and recommend it to anything coming through that area! Some of the sites did seem to have more spice than others. We had site number 4 and that was more than enough space for my two friends and I plus our dog. It was a bit more private with trees in between neighboring sites. Across the little road driving through the campground the sites seemed a bit closer together but looked like everyone had more than enough room for campers and accessories! It was a busy campground with couples, singles traveling, many families, and friend groups which, as three girls traveling, we liked because it felt more safe as opposed to just a few people around!

3 nights at Private Wooded Camping on the Lake

This woodsy site on Huron Bay was fabulous for our family trip. We have a small pop-out camper that just fit on a spot with a great view of the water, and that left just one other small level spot for our kids' tent. It might prove challeging to fit a large rig. It was great to have water fill up right there, and the convenience store down the road with all the basics. The sandy beach area fun. It goes out a long ways before dropping off, which makes swimming and fishing a bit challenging. It's more of a wading beach. Our dog loved it. There are houses on either side of the site, but they are not really visible through the decent stretch of woods and no one was there while we were there. There is a bit of road noise, but it's not all that busy and there is a thick screen of woods between the site and the road. The neighbor's dock is massive and juts out into deeper water mockingly beckoning you to go where you cannot tresspass. The kayaks for rent did not come with plugs (they were definitely taking on water) or life vests, so they were a bit unsafe to take too far out in the bay, and they were a bit small for the 200+ lb people in our group. Fortunately we brought our canoe and managed to catch a single northern pike in 3 days. We saw quite a few fish jump, heard many birds, and had an ermine boldly cut through camp in front of us. The only real complaint we had was that the porta-potty was unusable. We can deal with gross, but this one was beyond that.

Very nice few with a wonderful sandy beach and waterfront. Plenty of eagles, loons, and sturgeon jumping out front. Prepare to get creative behind the steering wheel to position your 20 plus foot trailer for the best view but it can be done. Fire pit is just ok and the porta john hasn't been pumped out in a long time ( glad we use our trailer for those things). Close to Finn Bar for lunch if needed and a few hikes to local waterfalls. Lastly, within seconds of connecting our Android phones to the local internet provided we were infected by a virus and both of devices need a factory reset.... currently working to get a backup done without passing on virus to the cloud storage.

7 nights at Hemlock Ridge Homestead

My boyfriend and I throughly enjoyed our week here! We enjoyed cooking meals together in our tiny cabin and the area was perfectly secluded, while still being close to stores and all the places we wanted to explore. We explored Mackinaw Island, Dead River Falls, Sugarloaf Mountain, as well as Blackrock beach which was one of our favs. We also challenged ourselves to the 10.5 mile hike throughout pictured rocks and saw some of the most beautiful sights and when definitely recommend if you're up for the challenge! Thank you April for letting us use your gas grill when we couldn't figure out the charcoal one LOLL. We definitely enjoyed our week in the woods and can't wait to come back!!

Great campsite !! I would recommend staging sites 30-36 as they were more secluded than other sites, lots of privacy. Facilities were very clean , very nice lake access and adorable store that has everything you forgot.

me and my friends loved it so much. very nice and clean with good bathrooms and an awesome camp store with food. the breakfast sandwiches were delicious. awesome location by several beaches. not far from pictured rocks, muinising and marquette.
