We bought this property in 2012 and have built several buildings and forged paths throughout the 32 acres. Our road is part of the North Country Trail, a footpath stretching over 4,600 miles from Middlebury in central Vermont to Lake Sakakawea State Park in central North Dakota. While tearing down the existing house, we constructed two bedrooms in the pole barn for a quick living space. Once settled in the pole barn, we a built a small log cabin with already felled timbers from the local woods, except for the box frame which was purchased from the local Amish. Prior to building our permanent log cabin home, this small cabin was our camp site and is now being rented to people that want to relax and enjoy the outdoors. In the middle of the woods, we created a campground to be enjoyed by hikers and on the North side of our property is a tree line between two fields that is a great small camper/tent camping spot.

Half way between Chicago and Detroit is a city named Kalamazoo. Our place is near the intersection of US 131 and I-94, so whichever direction you are traveling is accessible. Whether you are heading to the beauty of "up north" or running between the big cities east and west, this is a great spot to rest and enjoy some down time. Lake Michigan is a 40 minute drive west from here and if you are a bicyclist, you can ride the Kal-Haven Trail from the trail head about 2 miles from here, all the way to the Big Lake and back (35.5 miles one way). We have trails in the woods and open fields to look over, depending on your preference. As of this year, there is no electricity and water hookup, so tents or trailers with electric and water are your option. We have a bell tent available for a single or a couple to stay. On that same site is room for a trailer or tents, if you want to invite your friends, and we've built a cooking shelter and a bath house that has a compost toilet and a shower with on demand hot water from solar energy. We have a horse farm on the property and offer horse experiences (All our activities are done on the ground near or with the horses, so, no riding is offered) at an additional fee. It is expected that you will remain outside the fence from the horses while you are staying, unless you sign a release and are accompanied by the owner to interact with them. We do not allow dogs. There are two campsites cleared in the woods, for tent camping, and more will be cleared in 2025, as time allows. There will be a bathhouse with a compost toilet and on-demand hot water nearby those campsites. If you want to stay before our build, we will offer a lower rate, but expect you to take away your own waste when you leave or clarify with us where whether there is an appropriate place on the property to dispose of it. At some point during the fall of 2025, we are placing a restored vintage 1957 Ideal camper in a separate area of the property. It will have solar power and an indoor compost toilet, with a stove and sink. It will host a single or a couple who can sleep on a full sized mattress. Another sleeping area may be offered from converting the table, but we are not sure how comfortable it will be until we've completed the renovation.

The shack isn’t perfectly air tight so you might encounter a few bugs however with Chickens around they are natural bug exterminators. Ceiling height it just at 6 ft meaning those taller than that need to Duck under beams. Please beware. *summer info : Lake can only be viewed from the upstairs of shack due to tall reeds or by way of walking path which is still under construction partially handmade from scrap lumber . It’s about 2/3 complete with newly built dock, sections (see pics). The path is usually partially underwater until mid May so please check if you plan to kayak you will use at your own risk. *:It’s too mucky to swim right off shore but you can Kayak out to the swimming area. Kayak use is allowed as long as waiver is signed. Closed toed/water shoes recommended . Potential for 4 guests which is tight, or more if part of your crew wanted to set up a tent. *Fall/winter info: Use of our guest bathroom is permitted during colder months -just ask!. Need a quiet, secluded getaway? Our off-grid cabin is on approximately 10 acres of private woods. As you turn off the main road into our cabin's driveway, you will begin to understand why this is our hidden gem. Enjoy the coziness of a wood stove in the winter or a crackling fire in seclusion in the summer- this little getaway cabin is sure to create fond memories. Maybe you will hear the horned owl at night or see an eagle while you kayak. Your adventure or a peaceful vacation awaits. The 450-square-foot cabin has a queen bed in the loft and two cots that can accommodate more guests. Guests must be able to climb a wooden log ladder. The kitchen has a two-burner stove and oven that can hold a 9x13 pan. Although we do not have running water, we do have a hand-washing sink and a sink for washing dishes. We also provide you with plenty of water for washing and drinking during your stay. As it is well water, you may want to take your own drinking water, if you prefer. We also have dishes, utensils, hot dog sticks, fry pie makers, pots and pans, a tripod grill for over the fire, and a small charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal). You will also want to bring a cooler to keep any food cold. Outside, we have a fire pit, wood to collect or purchase, and a hammock to fully enjoy your stay. Our bathroom is an outhouse and has been described as the “cleanest outhouse in Michigan.” Our latest addition is a seasonal rustic outdoor shower! We provide water that is heated by solar power (or you can heat some on the stove to hurry the process!) The shower is seasonal - only available from May to September. Within 1/4 mile is the St. Joe River which is a great place for kayaking. We also have kayaks and quads for rent. We also have some short trails on the property and a railroad bed adjacent to the cabin area. Our cabin is powered by a small and very quiet Honda generator. It is super easy to start. The cabin’s main source of heat is a wood stove with wood we provide. An air conditioner is provided for the summer. For more than two people will be an additional $10 per night per person. Pets are a $25 per pet additional fee. Pets are not to be on furniture and not to be taken into the loft for their protection.

We absolutely loved this place! It was cozy, peaceful, and filled with so many cute animals. Titus was a wonderful host who greeted us at the entrance and gave us great recommendations for places to visit nearby. We had such a lovely stay and would definitely come back! Ph the sunrise...amazing!

The Fisherman's Wharf cabin at Sheepey Arcres is our "Happiest Place On Earth." We have visited many times, living our time there more after each departure. Titus, and family, are amazing hosts, being genuinely concerned about your stay. The fresh air, lack of light pollution, and calm quiet moments make it "our" spot. I can't recommend Titus' cabin and hospitality any more to anyone considering a stay. (If you do opt to fish make sure you have strong enough line for the few 'lunkers' in the pond!!) HANK YOU TITUS!!

We enjoyed our stay on Titus’s land. He’s always a gracious host and this is our second time staying with him. We rented the cabin, the starlight hut and a tent site for a small family get together and everyone loved their stay. We all felt welcomed. The pond and sheep pasture with a tire swing and wooden ship were highlights for our kids. Thank you again for the wonderful weekend!

Beautiful location to see the full moon rise. The camper was set up to make you right at home and certainly made the night comfortable and easy. We love the flexibility as we had to change our trip last minute. We have been to this property twice and will be back again. It is pretty to watch the sunrise, wonderful to go for a swim and use the water slide, and hang out with the sheep. Thank you for some much needed reset time in nature!

We had a wonderful stay at the Fisherman’s Cabin! The property was beautiful, exceptionally clean, and thoughtfully set up with so many little details that made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We loved being able to spend quality family time fishing, swimming, and having fun on the water slide. Titus was a fantastic host - friendly, responsive, and genuinely caring. the host greeted me on arrival gave me a tour and explained everything available to use. the host was always asking if i needed anything. they are onsite working they keep there distance to give you your privacy. the cabin was great clean quiet and a great view. very nice covered porch over looking horses. the cowboy town was a neat thing to walk around. alot of trails to explore on site. the stream was a great place to cool off. this is a great place to stay and relax. a great location to unplugged and relax.

This was the most wonderful, relaxing, intimate, whimsical, connecting place to stay. My partner and I stayed in one of the huts and loved it. It is built with such high quality and exactly what you need for a step above camping. We toured the property and thought every campsite was absolutely perfect. The cabin and other hut looked awesome as well. The pond with a slide is wonderful. Titus was a wonderful host and ensured we were able to find everything. This is a well thought out place to stay with trash, recycling and a shower. I’d recommend you bring a fan to sleep with because it does get hot in the huts with the summer heat. That’s a personal preference. I’d also recommend lamps for using the restroom and when it gets dark as the huts have low string lights. Overall, we have already made places to return to the property. We LOVED the sheep, chickens, flowers, you name it. What a wonderful weekend.
