We are known as a fishing destination and many locals have said our 1900ft of frontage on the Betsie has the best fishing holes of any stretch from Homestead Dam to Grace Road.

The area boasts salmon fishing, lake perch, walleye and the best Steele head trout fishery to be had. Deer hunting in the fall and winter as well as a large wild fowl population. Swan can be observed in pairs on the small lakes while other wild life can be seen on Lake Michigan only a few miles away. A public boat launch is just around the corner on shore drive. We boast bears, coyote sightings as well as other wild life on and off the property. Sleeping Bear Sand dunes are just up the coast. A large fresh water sand dune and national park this nods to the ancient history of Lake Michigan as as a once inland sea. Altas Michigan boasts pro quality golf courses right on the coast with beautiful weather in summer that is neither too hot or too cool. A Buffalo farm can be seen from outside Traverse City which sits on the Grand Traverse Bay. All bodies of water offer a clean fresh swimming experience with Caribbean blue waters clear to the bottom. This is our second year camping here to fish for salmon. It’s well run and so convenient for being able to walk to the river. Bathroom is clean and hot showers are nice to have.

The school bus was great! We took our 2 year old on a long trip in Michigan and stayed at multiple 5 star hotels. What was his favorite? The school bus! We enjoyed late night fires and easy slow wake ups! Our son particularly enjoyed opening and closing the bus door manually. In summary, we made fond memories in the school bus!

I had such a wonderful two night stay at Gypsy Hill. Firewood was provided and we had the coziest little set up right under the trees. Skies were so clear and perfect for stargazing. Purple lantern was just what we needed. Thank you for the hospitality on your land!

Weekend Trip to Gypsy Hill
My boyfriend and I stopped for one night to car-camp while passing through. It was perfect! Directions were easy to follow, even in the dark. While we didn’t stay long, the site was well kept and quiet, just what we needed. We arrived late but the host greeted us in the morning and was very friendly! We definitely recommend Margaret’s place.

Margaret’s land is beautiful! We had a very nice stay. The trails were well marked, the outhouse was clean, and the campsite well maintained. It’s secluded but was also easy to get to things if something was forgotten. There are other camp sites nearby, but it still felt private for us. The fire pit was such a nice touch. We were grateful for the firewood provided. Even with some rain, we had a great stay and would recommend or rebook this Hipcamp!

This campground is great if you'd like a more peaceful environment. There are only 4 sites and each is well secluded from the others. It is easy to find of of a main road and there is a corner "bakery" super close by. The outhouse is clean and comfortable. There's also free firewood! And there is a well in the center of Honor to get free drinking water.

We loved camping at this campground! It was very peaceful and quite beautiful. The only con is that personally, our site was right next to the building in which the fish guts were kept, so it smelled pretty bad most of the time depending on how the wind blew. We weren’t at our campsite much so it was fine, but something to be aware of when selecting tent site #30.

Unique stay with a lot of character! Was so glad to see a small AC unit since it was 92 out when we got there. Located close to great sights and a fun little brewery. We enjoyed the cozy rope lights and played cards in the ambiance. We slept so hard it was unreal! Loved the privacy of the location but had a couple chicken visitors! Do read the description well - you need to bring your own everything including TP.

18 ft pop-up camper
Purple Lantern was a great campsite. Well enclosed 270 degrees by Tall trees, allowing shade from sun in late afternoon. I did back a camper downhill into the site, but later discovered it is accessible as a "pull though" site from the main road.
Margaret is delightful and was a pleasure to meet. There is plenty of available hiking on her land , and she has hand built an outhouse which is SUPER CLEAN. I would gladly stay again.

I appreciated the helpful and friendly staff. They have a great store onsite, nice shower houses, a nice game room and a pool. It’s wonderful to have the river on property and just float, swim or fish! It’s also close to a grocery store (which happens to have a Starbucks inside if that’s your jam).
One thing I didn’t like is one half of the park seemed to be long term residents. It just made it feel different for a vacation spot. Additionally the tent campsites are VERY small.

After driving for 4 hours we needed a backup camping spot quickly, we were able to I want book around 10pm and she came and greeted us in the morning.
Easy to find and setup, beautiful little spot and she provided us with firewood and information on wheee to find more if needed.
We will be coming back
