Note: For the winter months we are closed, we reopen in march. The furthest we are open at any given moment is about six months. We close when hunting season comes in during the fall. Description of camp: This is not a glampsite! There are limited utilities here. No Drinking water, just water for the fire. There is a self serve firewood store, you may also forage dead wood. Here only one group may camp at a time. The campsite is a big level hilltop clearing surrounded by acres of woods. There is stone driveway that leads to the site that gets you back into the woods. The driveway is wide enough for trucks, trailers, vans, etc. Since the site is up high it gets a great breeze which helps on warm days and gets good cell service. The campsite gets great sun and has shaded areas along the sides that make for good tent pitching. We have had people set up hammocks, tents, tarps, or camp in their vehicle. We provide a privy (outhouse), an outdoor showerroom/changing room, picnic tables, and a metal fire pit with grill rack that you can put in the fire pit if you wish to cook/grill over it. You will have access to electricity to charge your devices, make coffee and turn on lights! There is no wifi out here, but you can use your own cellular data for internet needs. If you have a child, we can provide a futon, bedding and set of towels for an additional cost of $25. (Keep in mind that the Hut and surrounding area is not child proofed inside/out and open waterway is very close to the hut.) Please let us know as soon as possible so we can have the futon available for your stay. Glamping here is fantastic! You will have a private outdoor shower to use right next to the Hut. Hot water available seasonally. Please confirm with host as to hot water availability. Biodegradable body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap/dish soap is provided and we ask that you use the provided products to help us protect our natural surroundings - especially the creek. Please keep in mind that water provided to the shower and outdoor sink is not drinkable (not potable), however, we do provide water for drinking/cooking/brushing teeth that is from a 5 gallon bottle with pump dispenser. A separate toilet room is available right next to the hut as well. It is equipped with a bucket toilet which requires eco- bags and kitty litter (both provided). The full bags are then tied and disposed of in a larger outdoor trash can just outside. Use the fire pit just outside the hut for grilling or use the gas grill with burner that faces the creek. Basic kitchen supplies are provided (please refer to pictures for details). There is also a picnic bench facing the creek. Walk the trail through the property and enjoy the cool shade. Pack a picnic and enjoy eating on the moss covered boulders next to the water, play games in the yard, snooze in a hammock, meditate by the creek or take a swim in the swimming hole. Enjoy privacy while in the hut, or join us on our morning chores (we live in a house on the property), by feeding the animals and gathering fresh eggs. During the day, cross the bridge over the creek to get to the beautifully maintained Conewago Recreation Trail where you can walk or ride bikes. Our rural setting is a relaxing spot to stay after a day of seeing the sites or visiting Hershey Park just 15 minutes away. We are 10 minutes to the train station which will take you to all the surrounding major cities - DC, NY, Philly and others for a day trip too! Experience a bit of history while staying in the Shepherd's Hut. The houses, grist mill and bank barn were built with sandstone brought to the property by wagonloads in the 1770's. Just think! This homestead was built before the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Revolutionary War began! Stay in or explore the 40 acres of property consisting of woodlands, creek and farmland. The grist mill and other buildings require host to accompany guests in order to enter and we are happy to give you a tour!

Welcome to Aberdeen Mills-a 40 acre farm and grist mill! Make some memories at this unique and beautiful place! You will be staying in the Shepherd's Hut on the creek. We cater to couples in this setting. The Hut consists of one room with a Queen bed. We provide all bedding and towels. Enjoy sleeping in our enchanted forest designed shepherds hut. Keep the windows open to listen to the sounds of the creek as it lulls you to sleep. Or, if you re too hot or cold, turn on the portable A/C & heating unit! You will have access to electricity to charge your devices, make coffee and turn on lights! There is no wifi out here, but you can use your own cellular data for internet needs. If you have a child, we can provide a futon, bedding and set of towels for an additional cost of $25. (Keep in mind that the Hut and surrounding area is not child proofed inside/out and open waterway is very close to the hut.) Please let us know as soon as possible so we can have the futon available for your stay. Glamping here is fantastic! You will have a private outdoor shower to use right next to the Hut. Hot water available seasonally. Please confirm with host as to hot water availability. Biodegradable body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap/dish soap is provided and we ask that you use the provided products to help us protect our natural surroundings - especially the creek. Please keep in mind that water provided to the shower and outdoor sink is not drinkable (not potable), however, we do provide water for drinking/cooking/brushing teeth that is from a 5 gallon bottle with pump dispenser. A separate toilet room is available right next to the hut as well. It is equipped with a bucket toilet which requires eco- bags and kitty litter (both provided). The full bags are then tied and disposed of in a larger outdoor trash can just outside. Use the fire pit just outside the hut for grilling or use the gas grill with burner that faces the creek. Basic kitchen supplies are provided (please refer to pictures for details). There is also a picnic bench facing the creek. Walk the trail through the property and enjoy the cool shade. Pack a picnic and enjoy eating on the moss covered boulders next to the water, play games in the yard, snooze in a hammock, meditate by the creek or take a swim in the swimming hole. Enjoy privacy while in the hut, or join us on our morning chores (we live in a house on the property), by feeding the animals and gathering fresh eggs. During the day, cross the bridge over the creek to get to the beautifully maintained Conewago Recreation Trail where you can walk or ride bikes. Our rural setting is a relaxing spot to stay after a day of seeing the sites or visiting Hershey Park just 15 minutes away. We are 10 minutes to the train station which will take you to all the surrounding major cities - DC, NY, Philly and others for a day trip too! Experience a bit of history while staying in the Shepherd's Hut. The houses, grist mill and bank barn were built with sandstone brought to the property by wagonloads in the 1770's. Just think! This homestead was built before the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Revolutionary War began! Stay in or explore the 40 acres of property consisting of woodlands, creek and farmland. The grist mill and other buildings require host to accompany guests in order to enter and we are happy to give you a tour!

It had all of the amenities we needed (campfire grate for cooking, unlimited wood, picnic table and benches), and the campsites had enough distance apart from each other. I didn’t get to meet Scott in-person but he was very communicative and accommodating for me and my dogs. I will definitely be coming back!

I l-l-l-loved everything about it! A beautiful ride. Arrived at the barn and was met be our charming host. A walk/ride past the farm animals to a seclude area up on a hill. The yurt was so cozy and inviting. Best cot ever. I will never sleep on an air mattress again! Great for one or two people. Plenty of spa e for additional tents if you need that. Big fire pit and LOTS of wood. Easy to cook on the fire pit but bonus propane grill and really convenient and stocked prep/kitchen area. Even soap and water dispenser setup for ease of cleanup. Delicious icy cold well water for drinking, too. We were also gifted some of their honey and eggs 🍀 Then there’s the farm! What a sweet experience. We got to feed the animals and collect the morning eggs. Walk to the Brandywine Nearby Creek for a beautiful walk along. I recommend! This is a special place!

Such a lovely time! The camp site was put together very well. It had a kitchen, Living area and the tent. Everything was very clean and we had everything we needed. My daughter got to feed the animals, we were gifted fresh eggs we picked from the chicken coupe as well as fresh honey. We would for sure camp here again!

This place is awesome. Sites are far enough apart to feel private, but you can walk back to the portapot if needed. Scott was super nice and helpful. Land is beautiful- the views are great, and it’s cool to set up camp among the growing Christmas trees. We’ll definitely be back.

We loved the island and La Mar was an amazing host. 5 of us spent a weekend on the island. If you have no experience canoeing, be prepared. Being from NYC, we are inexperienced and it took us an hour to row the mile to the island against the tide. if you can get your own power boat to take you there, it will make life a whole lot easier. definitely a challenge, but it was amazing once we made it. The island is relaxing for a weekend. You also get to do some fishing, though we didn't have much luck in October. also - low tide is really low tide. don't plan on going out until the tide comes in a bit. I would recommend taking lots of firewood and a portable toilet. I can't say enough about how communicative and accommodating La Mar is. We're already talking about our next trip.

Excellent stay! Greg and Abbie were so welcoming and made sure I had everything and anything I could need (which was already there). Took my jeep up to the spot, the teepee style tent kept me dry in the rain, the cot was comfy, and having the couch was an added bonus. I appreciate not having to set up anything (my body wasn’t up for it). I loved feeding the goats and horse, petting the pony and pigs, seeing the chickens. Sunset was lovely. It was peaceful and just what I needed. Close to home, but far enough away. I will definitely be back!
