I have two properties which offer two different kinds of camping, which I have tried to itemize separately in the Hipcamp listings. The pictures were hard to sort out.RV's and Campers will park on the upper level at the Panama Street address which has water and electricity. You cannot actually see the Ohio River from the parking lot, but it is a short walk. Any pictures of water were taken from the tent camping site. If you are in a large vehicle, but are looking to spend a lot of time by the river,, you can hope that the site is available for use, which usually it is, (somehow I rarely book both places at once), or book both sites.
Tent campers set up their tents right beside the river. There is a very simple house with a bathroom, cold running water, electricity, and also provides shelter in bad weather. It's an unusual set up, as perhaps Hipcamper spots often are. It feels like the middle of nowhere sometimes on these (small, very not fancy) properties by the river. Small planes, trains, barges and pleasure boats, and motorcycles pass by at times. AI wrote that people have called it trashy. Not so!
California is just a few minutes off I-275 from the Kellogg exit, and a 15 minute drive from Cincinnati. It is the eastern-most neighborhood with a quaint village feel. Safe, flat, scenic and walkable, California offers several dining experiences, one a brewery, and quite a variety of recreational experiences. Riverbed Music Center, in season, is a mile away, walking distance, as is Belterra, the race track/casino. The bike trail is a few blocks away and connects to all the other area bike trails including the Loveland Bike Trail along the "Wild and Scenic" Little Miami River. A local nature preserve, California Woods, offers hiking and nature programs, and there is even the California Golf Course. A park with large, grassy open spaces and small playground is a few blocks away. Bring your game of horse shoes, corn hole, a frisbee to throw, your skateboard, golf cart, or some bikes just to cruise around and take in the scenery. The Little Miami River flows past Armleder Park a few miles away, which has a gravel river beach, a dog park, walking and biking trails and connects to the 5 mile loop around Lunken Airport. There is a lot to do in Cincinnati.

Riverside is an 8 acre property on the Ohio River in Burlington, KY. Originally built as Lock and Dam 38 in 1926 it is now a multi family apartment property with a large field and plenty of room to camp. Currently there are two sites and a outside community area. Each have a picnic table and fire ring. You can pull your car right up to your site.
Bring your canoe or kayak as we have access to put your boat in right on the property. Or fish from the river bank.
There is access to the indoor common area where you will find a bathroom with shower and a place to relax or get in from the weather. There are two coin operated laundry rooms and a soda machine onsite as well.
This historic location is just 8 minutes to Rabbit Hash, 18 minutes to Big Bone Lick State Park, and 22 minutes to the Creation Museum.

The campground is clean and the owners are super friendly and helpful. There is a lot for kids to do and my grandkids really enjoyed being there. We were there over a weekend so it was full and hopping. Our neighbors played cornhole until 1:30 am so that was unfortunate. The laundry facilities were not great. Several of the machines didn’t work and the dryer that did work took more than one cycle (we later discovered that you had to put it on delicates to get heat 😂). The friendliness of the staff made up for any disappointments and I would definitely stay there again. Also call and check to make sure they have your reservation if you use Hipcamp. Their systems don’t cooperate too well. We weren’t in the system at all so they had to put us in. They honored what Hipcamp promised. We originally thought we would be a late arrival and if that had been the case, we wouldn’t have had our paperwork in the late arrival box. I don’t know what we would have done then

Attended a concert at Riverbend and this site was 1 mile away. Loved watching the riverboats during the day, and the concert was an easy 20 minute walk. Only a couple of blocks into town and a few restaurants, one of which was a great BBQ place.. Site was quiet and secluded, yet close to everything.

The view is beautiful and really great places to eat within biking/walking distance. Especially recommend Pig Candy at the entry to Eldorado St. The site has a “cabin” with a working toilet but the shower has no hot water. Polly was accessible with any concerns and we absolutely enjoyed our stay.

Excellent quiet spot directly on the river. Be aware that the Google directions aren't exactly correct, but Polly's instructions were spot on. The land is sloped towards the river but there is adequate flat space for a tent or more and trees enough for two hammocks. The house on the property is very sparse so expect to bring all camping needs aside from a table, chairs, and running water. The site is about a 15 minute walk to Riverbend with a paved sidewalk the whole way. The property does not have direct access to the river but it looks like the area does. Polly was super responsive to messages and very easy to work with. We will be back for future concerts and waterfront enjoyment!
