With one of those properties we used the well and septic and built camp sites to entertain our friends and family. We have opened this up to some outside travelers to attract interest in our local community. Travel trailers, Fifth wheels, Toy haulers, Class A RVs, Class B RVs, and Class C RVs allowed. Cell phone service is not great here but not totally absent if you stand in the right place. Wi-Fi is available. It keeps getting better because the trail keeps getting extended with more pathway added. The volunteers do a superb job up keeping this 50 mile path. Make this a to do for a beautiful Fall ride once the leaves begin to change. You'll be immersed in intense colors and wonderful woodsy sights and smells. Seven Pillars: Located 0.8 miles from Camp Ames This breathtaking formation along the Mississinewa River was created over the centuries as wind and water eroded the limestone, carving rounded buttresses and alcoves into the north bluff of the river. Seven Pillars Nature Preserve - Acres Land Trust - Located 0.3 miles from Camp Ames! This preserve on the south side of the Mississinewa River is named after the landmark 25-foot limestone pillars, also owned by ACRES, which are located on the north side of the river. On top of the bluff grow red cedar, Juneberry and shadbush. In the preserve are beech, maple and other trees, as well as open meadow. The Miami Nation continues to gather at the pillars. The preserve is 148 acres of woods open to the public to walk the woods. There is 1.8 miles of trail. Named after the daughter of JR and Marla Dennis of Kokomo. Preslie Lynn Dennis passed from injuries sustained in a car accident on June 22, 2018. She was just short of her 18th birthday and ready to leave for boot camp to serve our country in the United States Army having already served in the National Guard. This multi-talented young lady left us all heart broken. Preslie Meadow lets her memory and beauty live on.

Weekend Trip to Red Brick Homestead

We had a great stay! The setup was a breeze, and Audrey was incredibly helpful throughout the process. What We Loved: Easy Setup: Setup was easy and Audrey was very helpful. The electric hookup was conveniently close, and Audrey even provided a hose extension since the water was a few yards away. It was a unique experience waking up to the sounds of the chickens and crowing rooster. There is also an abundance of grass to hangout if that's what you're looking for. Could Be Improved / Important Notes: The actual spot I stayed on (15amp) was part of the rock driveway. The turkeys are a bit curious and hopped onto my truck and camper. I was worried their talons might damage the cloth. However, after messaging Audrey, she quickly put them away which eased my worry. Overall Impression: Audrey was a very responsive and accommodating host. I would book again if heading to that area.

Weekend Trip to Cattail Springs

I had a great experience at The Hollow at Cattail Springs! I was the only one onsite during my time there, so I had the whole place available to me. There was plenty of firewood so the fire stayed hot, I had complete access to the pond, and I had ample time of solitude which I was after. I couldn't recommend booking through Cole enough! He was there waiting for me when I arrived and was like talking to someone I had known for a long time. Thanks for the hospitality!

We really enjoyed staying at Creekside. Ariel is an outstanding hostess and was very helpful. The cottage is adorable and comfortable. Since we went in October, we did not need to use the AC or the heater. If I had to find anything at all to criticize, it’s that there’s no running water, so be sure to bring plenty of water to douse your fire at the end of the night. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant place to stay for getting away from the sound of the Interstate in your backyard. There’s plenty of dining options nearby (we decided to try Mr. Weenie.) There was a well stocked grocery just a bit further down from the drive in. If you bring your dog(s) be prepared for them to get anxious when the coyotes come out at night.

Very private and quiet. Beautiful views of the countryside and river. Neat little insulated shack w/ goodies and seating. Very cozy and comfortable.

The Hideout is located on the south side of Cattail Springs five-acre pond. The site is mostly sunny, but has a little shade. (Bring cover with you if you want guaranteed shade). It has a few areas to access the pond for fishing (catch and release) and is near the canoe drop in spot. To access this campsite, a flat, short walk will be required through the woods. Fire pit and picnic table provided. Porta potty is located on the other side of the pond (near where you'll park).

The hideout was great! A large space to spread out and a beautiful view of the pond. Thoughtful additions, like well kept trails to ensure privacy, firewood, trash bins and a cart to get your gear to camp. Instructions were easy to follow and hosts were very communicative. Would stay again!

Super lovely campsite. My friend and I stayed here for a weekend for a little relaxing getaway. Although we didn't get to meet Cole it was such an enjoyable and welcoming stay. There was firewood at our campsite when we arrived and he had plenty in case you needed more(brought our own packs since we didn't know haha). But overall would recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice private camp weekend. The Cove was wonderful and secluded and you could barely hear the highway at night. Overall 10/10!!!

Our group of 10 college students had a wonderful time at Wayde and Beth's! They were both so kind, generous, and thoughtful. We enjoyed eggs, tomatoes, peppers, and honey all from their farm! We had planned on cooking calzones over a campfire that night, but there was a countywide burn ban in effect, so they let us use their bbq grill and the calzones came out perfectly! We launched our canoes in the Mississinewa River right in front of their property and they allowed us to park our car for self-transport at their place. They could not have been easier to work with and had excellent communication. We were also very pleasantly surprised that they had a toilet for us to use, which the whole group was very happy about! We highly recommend!

Waterfront campsite location situated at the bottom of the hill. Adjacent to former stone quarry rocky edge with ease of access to fish from the dock (catch and release), relax by the fire pit, enjoy the outdoor dining area and more.

Very peaceful, you don’t even know you’re close to the road/highway! The grounds were very well kept and the pond had great fishing. Cole swung by and checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed! Very kind and personable. Would definitely recommend for a weekend camping trip!

The hideout was awesome for camping with our dogs! They were able to be on long tie outs without any worry about other animals or people walking through. They have put alot of thought and effort into guests privacy! Fishing from the campsite was on point and my husband caught the biggest bass he has ever caught! (See the photo) Would definitely recommend trying it out for yourself! Groceries, gas, ice, etc all less than a 5 min drive away! Starbucks too! 😉 They are in the process of adding glampers and can't wait to try those out!

Cole & Janel were great hosts. The property was awesome with great personal space between camp sites. Cole was very attentive to our needs. We had family come to visit for the day and dinner. They enjoyed fishing and the peace and quiet at the camp. For a new private campground that is close to the freeway and shopping, this was a great spot and we will certainly be back when visiting family in Muncie. We stayed at the Eagles nest site which had 50amp power and water. Nice level spot to camp on with 26ft RV. Thank you Cole & Janel.

My family had an AMAZING stay here at The Cove at Cattail Springs. A few things to note: This is definitely a beginner camper/family friendly spot. It offers a primitive camping experience without feeling absolutely stranded. Some people wanna FULLY detach but as somebody with a toddler it was so ideal being close enough to civilization we could grab anything we needed while experiencing nature and a gorgeous view all day. The site was super spacious and they offer lots of kindling and wood for fires for a small donation. Having a porto potty was also a major plus. Only thing I want to mention is the vicinity to the freeway gets a bit loud at night but it wasn't a deal breaker! Cole and Janel are just very warm people who are always down for a chat but gave us all the privacy in the world. They are building their campground all by themselves and the little touches really show how much love they have poured into their property. We have deemed this an annual tradition and cannot wait to come back next year!! Thank you for everything.

We had an amazing time here. It’s really close to the city so it’s a great quick getaway and the site was wonderful. The sites are well thought out and really private. We cooked on the campfire and had a great relaxing night. Cole is a great host and we are looking forward to going back.
