Complete disappointment.
The host must have been holding a party complete with bright lights, loud music, and lots of people in the owners house adjacent to the site.
This might have been OK had we known this when booking it. But it was too much, and had to pack up that evening and was without a place to stay.

We stayed just one night at the Sweet Spot and it was perfect! Felt very secluded and exactly what we were looking for. Previous reviews had mentioned the noise of the road and at night it really was not bad at all and did not disturb us.
Angie was a fabulous host and was super easy to communicate with as well as gave great recommendations for the area.
We would definitely stay again.

I read the reviews and some seem to be for folks with bigger rigs than mine. I was car camping and found the pull off level and well taken care of. Tent site is very close by and surrounded by bamboo and trees so it feels pretty private. I heard very little road noise that others notes and found the grass to be mown and everything in good order. It is located outside of Yellow Springs but close enough to be a perfect launchpad. The entire site felt private and the driveway not as intimidating as others found (I had a Jeep Cherokee). I would have been comfortable driving our Subaru Crosstrek up it as well. I was only disappointment by the closure of the plunge pool which others mentioned as well but definitely not a deal breaker. Angie is a great host and very accomodating!

The grass was way over grown, the places was full of ticks and flee, the campsite didn’t look anything like the pictures at all. VERY disappointing.

This site was less than we expected. The grass had not been mowed yet this year and was quite long. There was not a level spot on the site; it all set on a slight hillside. Saturday evening, the host had a party at their residence with a live band and loud music. The event ended around 2AM. Multiple vehicles drove in and out of the site during and after the party. We will not stay here again.

My friend and I had a good stay but unfortunately, there is a lot of road and air traffic near the site so there isn’t much serenity with nature. I also would have liked to see the campsite a bit more prepared for visitors. A mowed down section for tents would be nice.

Unfortunately, this campsite was not in a condition that felt usable during our visit. The grass was extremely overgrown—up to our knees—with no realistic area to set up a tent, and the only level section was thick with mud. Our vehicle got stuck immediately upon arrival, which made for a very stressful start to the trip. While there was brief mention of potential mud, it came after we had already packed and were en route. Ultimately, we had to scramble to find another site last minute, which was a major disappointment. I hope the site can be better maintained in the future for other campers. Maybe we just came too early in the season.

We loved camping here!! The area is in a secluded and grassy spot, and it’s absolutely gorgeous!! There are so, so many birds and it was very peaceful. We woke up to the sun shining and birds singing, and it was great feeling!😊😊😊

What a beautiful spot! Secluded with two nice little paths. Plenty of room for 8 people and plus.
My only complaint was that there wasn’t any water available on site. I was hoping maybe the spring was available. But honestly it didn’t matter because we had such an amazing stay.

Very nice and private camping spot. Fire pit was great and close to downtown yellow springs. We stayed 2 nights.
Driveway is very steep and bumpy. We drove an SUV so it was fine. Also the quick link for directions takes you somewhere past the site. Type it in manually. Lastly, a springhouse was advertised on the listing, but host said it is overgrown and not actually accessible. Not a deal breaker, but that should probs be updated.
Overall I’d stay again!

This ended up being the perfect solution for a last minute getaway. The property was pretty much what I expected from the listing and reading other peoples reviews. The one helpful tip I will leave here is If you click the link to the Maps location, it takes you specifically to the GPS coordinates of the camp spot which for me suggested to enter from the wrong side, which was someone else’s property entirely on a different street. I would recommend simply typing the address into your GPS that took us where we needed to go. Other things to note the driveway is very steep and covered in gravel. My car is not all wheel drive but I did not have a problem getting up the driveway. The campsite is indeed a nice sized circle cut out of the trees. It has a nice bamboo wall and feels very private when you walk out to the main road the hosts house is visible, but once you step on the trail to the campsite, it feels very secluded much more so than had we stayed at the booked up State park campsite.
Other things to note, this is primitive camping literally a fire ring inside of a cleared out space in the backwoods of someone’s property and yes, it is on a major road, so if things like wet grass, and the occasional traffic whizzing by 55mph is a dealbreaker for you then you may want to consider a more expensive property with amenities or a larger chunk of land.
Personally, I thought it was a great value and would consider booking again in the future.

Pros: Very private, beautiful scenery(lots of black walnut trees and bamboo.)
Cons: Traffic noise, over grown entrance and around spring house, lawn and fire pit maintenance was poor. Not really for us.

Yellow Springs is a great town with awesome hiking around it, so we very much appreciated the location for this Hip camp. Having no outhouse/ shade was a little rough, but we made due. I believe the hosts are installing an outhouse which will greatly improve the campsite. A small shaded area would also be nice for summer camping - or guests could bring a shade tarp.

Beautiful secluded spot right outside of Yellow Springs. We booked this location primarily due to the spring house that was advertised. We knew it was going to be really hot this weekend and with 4 kids in tow we were hoping to get to use it. Owner never got back to us when asked if this was going to be available. Kind of disappointed in that but overall it was a nice camp site.

On the plus side, the directions were very clear, and we had a secluded private campsite. On the negative side, the grass was cut nice and short immediately around the fire pit, but the rest of the campsite had grass that was probably about a foot tall. It was not raining when we arrived, but had rained all that day. So by the time we had set up our tent (which fits over the bed of our truck) our shoes and the bottoms of our pants were very wet, and a little bit muddy. We probably wouldn’t stay here again, unless we were reserving it right before going, and knew that there would be no rain during our stay.

Tiny grassy clearing approximately 50 feet in diameter, above SR 68 a stones throw but well hidden. We had three vehicles and eight people and there was plenty of room. We parked all three vehicles in the driveway/pulloff. The traffic noise is what you’d expect, but a nice view of the sky. It was perfect for the eclipse!

Great little spot right on the outskirts of Y.S. I actually use to work The Hammond Farm across the street in high school from Y.S. all the way to Knickerbocker. Very cozy and private. Would be an excellent spot for mushroom hunting. Kids had a blast.

PROS: Very close to Yellow Springs, Glen Helen Nature Preserve, Clifton Gorge and John Bryan State Park.
It's a completely secluded site. From the main driveway you take two short left turns to pull into your circular camp site. You don't see the road or houses.
CONS: It's right on a 55 MPH road so it's noisy.
A lot of the camp site had super long grass that was matted down. (from walking on? tents?) Needs better upkeep.
I was only at the site for about 30 min when I realized I had a big car issue and needed to leave and get home. I texted Angie, thru HipCamp, my issue and stated how I was there but couldn't stay. It's over a week later and she never replied asking how my car was doing or refunded my money. Shows a bit of inhumanity. Disappointed.

I camped here for my birthday weekend. The site was close to civilization (Yellow Springs is a special community) but also isolated, I still felt immersion into the natural world. Greatly for these hosts making this available.
