The property is shared by (2) full-hook up RV sites and a cabin. If available, the cabin and sites may be rented together however the owners, Jim and Maria, use the cabin much of the summer leaving just the RV sites available. The property is at mile market 13 of the Kal-Haven Trail - the midpoint. The Kal-Haven Trail is a biking, cross-country skiing, walking, running, snowmobiling - you name it, the trail that goes 34 miles from Kalamazoo to South Haven. Literally steps from the property and you are on the trail. But you may not need to leave the property, with 6.3 acres of woods and field, with trail cut through PLUS the added public lands butted up to Tincan's property line, giving almost 20 acres to roam. Each RV site - far enough apart to be separate, close enough if you and friends/family want to camp together, has a fire pit and fireplace. Each RV site offers water, 30|50AMP electrical and septic. The dock may have availability for keeping you boat - please inquire. There are kayaks and some bikes (mostly teen and adult size) that may be used. These are shared amenities for the cabin and campsite guests and offered on a first come, first serve basis. There are surprises galore around the property; big foots to be found tucked around the property, games, and overall just a fun place to be. We are 13 minutes from South Haven and the lake. 30 minutes from the city of Kalamazoo. And just under an hour from Grand Rapids. About half of the 20 acres is wooded, which is where three of our camp sites, Hammock Haven are located. Each site has a fire ring & picnic table. Three camp sites are located in the pasture. One is at the bottom of the pasture (1) and quite open. It can accommodate larger groups with multiple tents. It can also take a larger RV. A more secluded site (5) is half open and half in light woods., and is located at the top of the pasture. The others are in the middle of the pasture, 2 for sun lovers and 3 for those who prefer more shade. For those who prefer more seclusion, we have cleared three sites in the woods. All sites have a fire ring, or metal fire pit, and picnic table. Some have fire wood boxes (we’re working on making a box for all sites). We have an outdoor propane shower that provides both hot and cold water. This is free. A coffee bar is on the back deck. Coffee is brewing around 7am. We also provide hot water, teas, hot chocolate and cider. Feeling a little peckish before breakfast, or after dinner? Help yourself to a snack. This is all free, though small donations are welcomed. Our goats, poultry, pigs, rabbits, cats and dogs and produce take up about an acre and a half. Then the rest is open space. You are welcome to collect eggs for breakfast and fresh produce from our gardens (additional fee). Use the BBQ or smoker. And even join in on farm chores if you are so inclined. Please try to plan to check-in by 9pm. Exceptions can be made. There are locally mandated quiet hours (10-7 Sun through Thur, and 11-7 Fri and Sat). Hanging out by a fire and chatting is fine.

You can even book a trip to the state park to ride the horse trails, which is only 15 minutes away. There is a great fishing lake less than 1 mile from the farm, so bring your poles and kayaks. About half of the 20 acres is wooded, which is where three of our camp sites, Hammock Haven are located. Each site has a fire ring & picnic table. Three camp sites are located in the pasture. One is at the bottom of the pasture (1) and quite open. It can accommodate larger groups with multiple tents. It can also take a larger RV. A more secluded site (5) is half open and half in light woods., and is located at the top of the pasture. The others are in the middle of the pasture, 2 for sun lovers and 3 for those who prefer more shade. For those who prefer more seclusion, we have cleared three sites in the woods. All sites have a fire ring, or metal fire pit, and picnic table. Some have fire wood boxes (we’re working on making a box for all sites). We have an outdoor propane shower that provides both hot and cold water. This is free. A coffee bar is on the back deck. Coffee is brewing around 7am. We also provide hot water, teas, hot chocolate and cider. Feeling a little peckish before breakfast, or after dinner? Help yourself to a snack. This is all free, though small donations are welcomed. Our goats, poultry, pigs, rabbits, cats and dogs and produce take up about an acre and a half. Then the rest is open space. You are welcome to collect eggs for breakfast and fresh produce from our gardens (additional fee). Use the BBQ or smoker. And even join in on farm chores if you are so inclined. Please try to plan to check-in by 9pm. Exceptions can be made. There are locally mandated quiet hours (10-7 Sun through Thur, and 11-7 Fri and Sat). Hanging out by a fire and chatting is fine.

The driveway down the middle of property that leads to the lake was originally a fence line that divided the two pieces of property. The brothers did not get along and their are several stories of their warring on how to maintain the property.My parents bought this piece of property in 1964 and created a camp called "Lakeside Farm Camp", a small all boys camp. The camp has gone through several changes since then but has always been owned by the Edwards family. The place looked great when we arrived, especially lit up at night. Inside, it had that familiar campfire-and-wood smell that made it feel comfortable right away. The heated blanket was the saving grace of the stay. It was in the 30s, and the small radiator heater struggled to keep up, so most of the evening was spent bundled up together under the blanket. The cabin is very small, and the property itself isn’t large either, so you can hear some street noise. Being close to town was convenient, though. We grabbed Chinese carry-out and it was surprisingly good after a cold day. Leslie was thrilled to meet the alpacas, which added a fun moment to the trip. There are several areas set up for groups, and I would definitely come back with friends. The space works well for hanging out and enjoying a simple, low-key getaway.

His thoughtfulness and creativity was everywhere in the campground - instructions were found right at the amenity I didn’t have to ask anything. The bus is adorable, the Whitney provided information ahead of time and then was always responsive when I had questions. The clubhouse looks like a great place to spend time...though I wasn't there long at all - just a quick stop-over on a road trip. I wish I'd had more time to explore because the images online don't seem to do it justice. It was cold November night and I got a head's up from Whitney - and they provided a small propane heater. I knew I was taking a risk booking when I did, but I very much appreciated the thought. Still, I woke up to snow, which I absolutely hadn't expected! The location is definitely out of the way (a benefit), but somewhere I'd go out of my way to go back to for a longer stay.

This was the perfect place to spend an evening reflecting and setting intention! The whole land is gorgeous. The hosts were very friendly (but not overly so ;)). The bus is quaint and welcoming and tucked away for privacy. As a female, solo camper, I would highly recommend for anyone who wants the feel of solo camping, but with a little assurance of safety/ security and access to home-based accessories (i.e. indoor toilet and coffee in the am!) Had a wonderful weekend at Bloomin Farm. The campsite was well tended and Melissa had left the wood we purchased near the fire pit as well as a lovely welcome sign and flowers. We had our own compost toilet and in warmer weather there is a hot shower tent on the campsite as well. There is some road noise but it was not bothersome at all. And our second night the farm hosted a Halloween event with food and live music, which was great fun and Melissa gave us plenty of warning so we knew it was happening. Would definitely stay there again!

Half way between Chicago and Detroit is a city named Kalamazoo. Our place is near the intersection of US 131 and I-94, so whichever direction you are traveling is accessible. Whether you are heading to the beauty of "up north" or running between the big cities east and west, this is a great spot to rest and enjoy some down time. Lake Michigan is a 40 minute drive west from here and if you are a bicyclist, you can ride the Kal-Haven Trail from the trail head about 2 miles from here, all the way to the Big Lake and back (35.5 miles one way). We have trails in the woods and open fields to look over, depending on your preference. As of this year, there is no electricity and water hookup, so tents or trailers with electric and water are your option. We have a bell tent available for a single or a couple to stay. On that same site is room for a trailer or tents, if you want to invite your friends, and we've built a cooking shelter and a bath house that has a compost toilet and a shower with on demand hot water from solar energy. We have a horse farm on the property and offer horse experiences (All our activities are done on the ground near or with the horses, so, no riding is offered) at an additional fee. It is expected that you will remain outside the fence from the horses while you are staying, unless you sign a release and are accompanied by the owner to interact with them. We do not allow dogs. There are two campsites cleared in the woods, for tent camping, and more will be cleared in 2025, as time allows. There will be a bathhouse with a compost toilet and on-demand hot water nearby those campsites. If you want to stay before our build, we will offer a lower rate, but expect you to take away your own waste when you leave or clarify with us where whether there is an appropriate place on the property to dispose of it. At some point during the fall of 2025, we are placing a restored vintage 1957 Ideal camper in a separate area of the property. I become owner of this property in 2017. The cabins were built in the late 90's financed by the previous owner. The property was vacant for decades prior to that. In the 1950's, the property was a drive-in motel called the 'Harbert Motel'. We have an arial photo from this time period which showed a number of small bungalows for guests, each with its own carport. I love all the stories I hear from locals who have been around long enough to remember how things 'used to be'. Southwest Michigan has an interesting history and has been a 'destination' from city dwellers for close to 100 years. Even Al Capone and his goon's frequented the area as they moved illegal good during the days of prohibition.
