I become owner of this property in 2017. The cabins were built in the late 90's financed by the previous owner. The property was vacant for decades prior to that. In the 1950's, the property was a drive-in motel called the 'Harbert Motel'. We have an arial photo from this time period which showed a number of small bungalows for guests, each with its own carport. I love all the stories I hear from locals who have been around long enough to remember how things 'used to be'. Southwest Michigan has an interesting history and has been a 'destination' from city dwellers for close to 100 years. Even Al Capone and his goon's frequented the area as they moved illegal good during the days of prohibition. Plus wildlife is abundant including our two Sandhill cranes that live on the pond. Dr Lawless Park is a designated DARK SKY and is located 1/4 of a mile away. Birch Lake is absolutely gorgeous and makes for a great kayak ride. Enjoy fishing or water sports on local Diamond or Donnell Lakes located within a few minutes of our farm. Our goal is to share our property with families who have children that love to ride. A quick story: When I was a kid, one of my dad’s best friends’ parents let us use about 20 acres of their farm and woods, where we set up a little campground. We had a small camper, tents, a fire pit, and a track out in the woods where we rode dirt bikes, four-wheelers, and side-by-sides. The best part was that we could keep our belongings and machines there during the week, so when the weekend came, all we had to do was show up and make memories with family and friends. To this day, we still talk about those times. With that in mind, we want to rent this cabin out to families so they can experience the same thing. Weekend Trip to K.O.H.O.E.

On our first visit to KOHOA, we stayed at the purple house, which has an incredible view of the river below. The accommodations were just what we needed for our son and dog: clean with lots of space, a tv for a movies during the rain, a great fire pit area with room to spread. Each of the sites at this property have a good distance between them so it felt private for us. It was a great area to explore with my son who enjoyed searching for animals like red squirrels and frogs. While my family and I live in Chicago, we often look for stays in southwest Michigan. We enjoyed our proximity to Michigan's coast. This time it meant going to Holland for the start of their tulip season and festivities, but we were also so close to Benton Harbor and St Joseph.

We're already planning our next trip back to Camp David! Perfect spot on the river, and David has thought of everything a guest might need. Better than any hotel - we loved our long weekend here. If you like antiquing there are some fun spots in Rochester about 7 minutes away, along with some great restaurants! Even with some rain, we were able to kick back and relax. The bungalo at Melissa's alpaca farm was fantastic. I stayed 2 weeks before Christmas, and even when the weather was bitter cold, I stayed warm and comfortable in bed with a heated blanket. I'll be back with a larger group this summer. This is great for a little personal hideaway, or for larger events like family reunions.

This was my 10th visit to Camp David! It was freezing outside, but the cabin was warm, and the campfire was even warmer, under a moonlit sky. The cabin was so cute, decorated with Christmas decorations. Davis is a fantastic host! What a great way to spend my birthday!!!

1 night at Blooming Bus Farms

The place looked great when we arrived, especially lit up at night. Inside, it had that familiar campfire-and-wood smell that made it feel comfortable right away. The heated blanket was the saving grace of the stay. It was in the 30s, and the small radiator heater struggled to keep up, so most of the evening was spent bundled up together under the blanket. The cabin is very small, and the property itself isn’t large either, so you can hear some street noise. Being close to town was convenient, though. We grabbed Chinese carry-out and it was surprisingly good after a cold day. Leslie was thrilled to meet the alpacas, which added a fun moment to the trip. There are several areas set up for groups, and I would definitely come back with friends. The space works well for hanging out and enjoying a simple, low-key getaway.

Wow. What a spot. Everything about our stay was perfect. Such a beautiful place, created by beautiful humans. A creative & cozy place for anyone looking for inspiration & connection! The yurts were heated for our late fall / winter stay and the alpacas were the cutest!!! Thank you Melissa & Jason!

Weekend Trip to Restful Camping Retreat

We loved staying here. It was peaceful and quiet, and the views were amazing. Cabin is just as pictured. Debbie and Larry were gracious hosts. Fishing was good - we used one of their boats. I hope to be back again.
