We can be found on HIPCAMP listed under OLD RUGGED BARN. We are in central IL near Historic Rt 66, minutes north of Bloomington-Normal with easy access from I-55. This property features 7.5 acres of prairie farmland with a creek running along the north side of the camping area. To the west, in a separate pasture are cattle living their best lives! This property has easy access off a county road, with spacious parking. A short walk down the property and you're at the private camping area. Each site has plenty of space and privacy, which includes a fully stocked camper with bedding, towels/washcloths, hotel style toiletries, and kitchens stocked with all the essentials. Since this is a boondocking setting, we provide a full fresh water tank, along with a quiet generator at each campsite for power (first full tank is on us). Site 1 hosts a 2021 Rockwood Geo Pro 20BHS Camper. It accomodates up to 6 people, but fits 4 most comfortably. An outside, camper mounted grill is included which utilizes the onboard propane system. TV is included in the main sleeping area, back area has 2 single bunks along with the middle area dinette which also converts into a sleeping area. Full bathroom is in the rear of the camper, with the cooking area placed across from the dinette. Site 2 hosts a 2020 Coleman Lantern 215BH Camper. It accomodates up to 6 people, but fits 4 most comfortably. Outside, the camper has an outdoor kitchen equipped with a mini fridge, a griddle, and a 2 burner cooktop which utilizes the onboard propane system. TV is included in the main sleeping area, back area has 2 oversized bunks along with the middle area dinette which also converts into a sleeping area. Full bathroom is in the rear of the camper, with the cooking area placed across from the dinette. The outside area also features a full power awning with an LED light strip for additional lighting, and the camping space has a family style picnic table. Come enjoy the midwest peacefulness right off Route 66 in this relaxing venue that you're sure to enjoy!

We are about a 45 min. drive from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and 35 min. from Eastern Illinois University. This Amish owned camper doesn't have Wifi (TV only plays DVD's). Depending on your phone carrier & plan, you shouldn't have any problem getting cell phone service & internet on your phone. It may be possible to funnel the internet from your phone to your phone to your laptop using a "personal hotspot".

Weekend Trip to Green Meadow Amish Farm

We had a great time camping at Green Meadow Farm with our two dogs. Merle was communicative and very accommodating. The farm was easy to find just outside of town and a beautiful spot, with horses, cats, and sheep around. It was peaceful and lovely to wake up to the sunrise across the fields. Very nice bathroom and shower facilities available. Anytime we return to the Arthur area we will definitely be giving Merle a call. We really enjoyed our stay!

This was my favorite camping experience yet. The host was very helpful and hands on. The set up was perfect for sunny and rainy days. It was sooo cozy and had a private feel to it. The stars were sooo bright and clear. I enjoyed walking around the sight. I had everything I needed. I will come back to this site again!

Greg here is just stopping through for one night on his trip around the country. Was on his bucket list and he's doing it! Cabin is often open on weeknights.

This is the second visit to CSC. It’s a great, quiet, place. No other campers around. If you’re primary goal is to enjoy time at camp, and perhaps take some walks/short hikes around the property, it’s perfect. Planning to return again.

Wonderful, peaceful stay at CSC. First time in the earth shelter site, which made this such a comfortable sleep. Lots of space for tents too. We fished, biked, had dinner and games at the campfire, and overall had a wonderful relaxing visit. Bill helped us out with many small things that really made the visit extra special, like loaning us bug spray, getting my kids new fishing gear sorted and helping fix an issue with my car. Can't wait to go back!

It was easy getting to this hip camp from the interstate and very comfortable sleeping weather! There was a wedding in progress but there was very little noise as I was on the other side of a barn from the crowd! I enjoyed running my dog around the property chasing her ball.

Jo’s farm was the perfect overnight stop for me while driving through Illinois with my camper van. Free firewood was included with the fire pit. Jo was incredibly responsive when I booked my stay late in the evening. Highly recommend. It looks like a super cute place for events as well.

I originally booked this property simply as a place to film, expecting just a small house and some land to move around on. Site has good privacy, although I highly recommend chatting with the friendly hosts and learning more about the permaculture. It was perfect for our night stay. It was dark by the time we drove in, and the owner met us at the driveway to help us drive in and helped with getting us hooked up. Beautiful view. You can hear the freeway as it is close by, but it didn’t bother us. Would stay again if ever passing through this area again!

We got here after 10pm which normally would have been awful to set up the tents in the dark. However, there were spotlights that made it perfect for seeing in the dark. With that said, there were plenty of dark spaces so the light wasn't an issue. Slept great; nice and quiet..When we woke in the morning, we were pleasantly surprised with the beauty of the property. There were also plenty of fun spaces to take pics. I would definitely recommend and would love to stay again!

Eric came out to greet us when we got there and helped us figure out where to park. He gave us the WiFi password and also recommended a couple of places to eat! It was very quiet and relaxing. Susan even asked if we wanted our awning in due to the rain when we were gone at a concert! Location was close to breweries and places to eat but secluded out in the country! I’d definitely stay again!

Jo’s land was so beautiful and taken care of, and so quiet and peaceful. Jo welcomed us when we arrived and showed us where firewood was and our options to camp, and was so friendly. We set up camp, caught some fireflies, and fell asleep to our crackling fire. Everything went very well, definitely will be back!

My husband and I loved staying at the CSC's Earth Shelter. It was a beautiful site with lots of signs of thoughtful preparation by our hosts! There were benches around the firepit and on the porch, extra chairs to move around, a picnic table, plenty of firewood and dry kindling, and even a chiminea for a cozy porch fire in case the weather wasn't right for the firepit. The Earth Shelter was inspiring! We loved seeing it in person to appreciate all the care and expertise that went into building it. Very comfortable and well-maintained. We highly recommend it! Our hosts were wonderful as well- we had our choice of fresh-grown produce from their garden and a lovely tour of the land and area.
