Weekend Trip to Millbrook Trail Rides

We had a great time “roughing it” with the horses. The spot was really nice, right next to the creek. We were able to build a campfire with the firewood on the ground. Then…the most magical thing happened. All the horses on the farm came and paid us a visit. It was awesome and beautiful to have them so near to us. Thank you for offering such a unique experience for us inexperienced campers to have. (Written by Chris)

2 nights at East Woods on the IL River

The creek was gorgeous and I want to come back in the summer and maybe take a dip in the watering hole! The spot was nice and private. We were lucky that there wasn’t anyone in the Airbnb on the land so we had the space more to ourselves. There is a train yard right next to the camping spot that is quite loud when a train goes by. I’m a really good sleeper so I didn’t mind it that much but if you are sensitive to noise when you sleep that might be hard to deal with. Other than that I had a great time and Katie is great and I hope to come back!

Plenty of private land to set up camp and Katie is super friendly. Short drive to starved rock and matthiesen parks. I would suggest walking the entrance road to scout it prior to committing to driving down it. We got stuck and required off road recovery tow $$$. Other than that we loved this area

Katie was the best! The campsite was well kept and easy to access. The train was a little noisy, but it didn’t bother us. Would recommend this spot!

This is an amazing spot. Plenty of open room and trails. Lots of wildlife and river front access. You can see so many stars at night. Firepits at every site and plenty of wood to gather and burn.

Great camping spot! The toilet is near the entrance, so you need to drive back to use it. But the land is gorgeous and the horses are amazing to see while camping.

We came in a bit late, during a heavy rain. Mike and Gosia probably weren't really expecting us at that point. However, we were happily greeted by them, and the wonderful goddess dog, Gaia. They helped us out with some items we were lacking and brought us firewood once the rain calmed down. The property is beautiful, perfect escape from the city. We didn't want to leave (and they let us linger a bit) we'll definitely be back. Between the hosts, the property, the privacy, and of course Gaia, this is a place we almost want to keep it as a secret. Also, we stocked up on their farm fresh jams, eggs, sauces, honey and we'd encourage you to do the same. We have a full week of dinners planned that we can't wait for. If you go, you'll know.

Children should be on campsite by 9:00 pm. If you violate this rule you will be evicted without refund and you will be banned from ever camping again. Footwear must be worn at all times in the camping area. The speed limit is 10mph in the campground. We have Jumbo wood bundles for sale($8) at the front office. You may not use any wood(>3”diameter) found within the campground for your campfire. Swimming is prohibited from any beach in the campground. You may wade up to your thighs however, ALL CHILDREN MUST HAVE A LIFE JACKET ON AND BE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES we do allow well behaved leashed dogs at this campground(please be advised that Eagles can harm small dogs. we are not responsible if your dog inflicts harm/and or injures Glass containers/bottles of any sort are prohibited in the campground. Garbage must be bagged and placed into the Dumpster within the Campground upon leaving. If any garbage is left at your site you will be charged a $50 cleaning fee. It has been an adventure making it my own over the past 4 years. I even got a pet pig - Alice! I love sharing this beautiful piece of land with other nature lovers. It's rare to have property of this size with this beauty in a Chicago suburb.
