Weekend Trip to Paradise on Mirror Lake

This camp (Site D) has a great set-up. Very clean, very well stocked with anything you'd possible need. Lovely view of lake and several trails to check out. We had a small trailer and was visiting Sandpoint for the weekend. Just a short drive into town. This is perfect for a quiet get-away. Nathaniel communicated with me every step of the way too ... so easy to find and get to.

Tim and Molly are amazing hosts! They left us some firewood, fire starter, a lot of fresh water, and a fun game! The toilet was very clean and a short walk from the Living Water site. The land is beautiful and we had a great time even though we had a lot of rain during our trip.

OMG—I don’t even know where to start! The site was INCREDIBLE, the host was AMAZING, and the amenities were ABOVE AND BEYOND. The entire trip was unforgettable, and the host’s care and attention never stopped. You can tell they have so much knowledge and love for the land—you can’t help but fall in love with it too. The sound of the rushing river below was peaceful and constant, and the trails were well-kept and ready for adventure. We brought a bow and some targets and spent hours shooting at a mountainside, listening to birds and watching wild turkeys cross the hills. It’s truly a beautiful area with stunning spots. Could not recommend this place enough! :)

We had a great experience at Seven Stars Ranch! The property is very well kept; it was such a peaceful environment. My family absolutely loved it and want to come back soon! Sonia & Andrew were very kind hosts. I high recommend stopping here if you are in the Coeur d'Alene area.

Weekend Trip to SPOKANE CAMPING In The Forest

We loved our time at Jane’s place. We had both site #1 and #2 booked for our large group and they were both fantastic. Between the two sites, there are a total of two wooden platforms for tents, a large tipi that 4 of us comfortably slept in (although it could probably fit up to 5-6 people), and we found one or two additional flat areas that were adequate for setting up tents. Do note, the entire property is on a slight hill, and Jane has beautifully created level areas for fires, picnic tables, etc, but there are only a couple additional “natural” flat areas. The “far-out house” was awesome; very clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Also note, the tipi is not 100% bug proof and the hole in the canvas at the top where all the wooden poles come together does allow rain in. We stayed in the tipi multiple nights and had absolutely no problem though. We only noticed mosquitos at our campsite (not inside the tipi) for about an hour or so one evening, besides that the entire area was pretty bug-less, as we had a gentle breeze up on the hill most of the time. A few of us had intermittent, unstable, low-bar signal on our phones up at the tipi site. It’s about a 5-10 min drive out onto a main road for cell service and amenities (convenience stores, etc). Jane was communicative and accommodating. She graciously helped us transport a few large, heavy loads of our camping equipment in her golf cart. We would definitely stay at Jane’s place again in future!

Beautiful spot! Clean/quite camp and awesome touch adding the farm fresh eggs which made for a yummy breakfast :). Right by the bike path. We plan to return!

This is a beautiful place and perfect for us with our dog. It was awesome that we could ride from their property to miles of close trails. They were so welcoming and hospitable. I will be marking this spot as one of our favorites!

Andy and Sonia are so friendly and welcoming! Even though you’re camping on a farm you don’t feel like you are! They’re very accommodating and the ranch is so peaceful and calming. We will definitely be coming back next year!

We had a blast at the little cabin and the lake was just magnificent. Just a nice little gem! We had a lacrosse tournament in Sandpoint and this was a fun little spot for some family time in between games! We enjoyed the peaceful water and had a nice fire to make some s’mores! Would definitely stay in the future. The pictures don’t do it justice. We slept in our camper van! There is a robin’s nest with 3 little blue eggs in the eve of the cabin too.

1 night at Paradise on Mirror Lake

Campsite A was the perfect overnight getaway away me and my dog needed. Beautiful spot right by the lake, firepit and hammocks were great. Nice to have the lamp at bedtime to get all situated in the cabin. Porta potty A+++. I was the only camper there so it was very quiet which is what I wanted. Nathaniel was quick to respond to my question and I reserved same day. Me and my doggo walked the “Recreation Loop” and checked out all the sites. The Enchanted Forest is so fun. I think this would be a great camp experience for a family with small kids. Nice little hiking loop. Love the Big Foot theme! I would highly recommend.

We had a great experience at this campground. It was beautiful, clean, quiet, peaceful, and a great place to stay for our couple days of biking the Trail of the CDA. Rachel was so easy to work with and communications with her were wonderful. Highly recommend this campground!

The farm was very easy to find and a lovely view. We shopped at the Jam Shop in the morning and got some great goods. Definitely worth the visit and price.

Weekend Trip to SPOKANE CAMPING In The Forest

Absolutely loved this spot! Jane and her husband were so accommodating and sweet :) their land they have is beautiful and they’ve really made the most of the camp sites they’ve created. The campsite we stayed in came with 1 bundle complimentary wood and fire starters, sticks to roast marshmallows, a cute bench fixed with blankets for cushion, chairs, and best of all, FILTERED WATER spout right at our site. Definitely one of the top places i’ve stayed on hipcamp. This area felt so safe as well, i’d even consider coming back and camping alone! (im 23F) They had such cool things to walk around and look at too. The outhouse they built with a shower/toilet/sink was very nice! Highly recommend!

This site (A) is super cute and I would say is the most private and rewarding site. It’s right by the dock, but we only briefly saw one other person. You get a small cabin (that is great for storage if you don’t stay in it), a nice fire pit, hammocks, and a fantastic tent site. The solar powered battery pack saved us because we had a leaky mattress. Highly recommend this site!

Learn more about this land: This 10 acre parcel is on a south facing slope with a forest of growing trees that are all 12 feet apart. Wildlife like deer, turkeys, and an occasional moose are common. One can walk through the woods or just sit and listen to nature all around. It's a great place for hammock camping! Two miles to the East is Lake Coeur d'Alene with great boating, kayaking, and fishing. Loffs Bay has a public boat ramp and lake access. This is not a good site for RV's! Campers will have gorgeous views and sunsets over the lake. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, hiking and wildlife watching abound. The campsite is off-the-beaten path so you'll be away from the crowds, yet the site is still close to other area attractions like Lake Pend Oreille (10 min. drive), charming downtown Sandpoint (15 min. drive) and Silverwood Theme Park (30 min. drive). The beauty and allure of Mirror Lake led to it being featured in two Hollywood movies -- Dante's Peak (1997) and Mel (1998). The lake itself is excellent for fishing, and stocked with Kokanee, Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Cutthroat Trout. The stocking is typically scheduled for the first week of June each year, so if you are an angler, it's best to come after June 7th for the best fishing. Paying homage to the Bigfoot legend in northern Idaho, the theme of this campground is all things Sasquatch! Can you find all 9 Sasquatch hiding throughout the campground? Swimming in nearby Talache Landing (a.k.a. Talache Beach) on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille is an absolute must-do. The views are absolutely stunning and the water is crystal clear -- and quite refreshing on a hot day. Fishing is best done in a canoe or small boat which can be put in at our campground dock (free) or at the nearby public boat ramp ($5 fee). When selecting your campsite, please take note of the following: Best lake views: Sites A, C and D. (Sites 1, 2, 3, E and F have partially obstructed lake views due to trees.) Load up your ATV, side by side or motorcycle and head for Priest Lake right from here. It’s a 21 mile (40 minute ride) to Coolin, ID. Enjoy the back county and take some of the IDL roads along the way to explore scenic drainages and in July/August pick some luscious huckleberries (the state fruit of Idaho) for a pancake or milkshake treat. On-site trailer parking adjacent to the road is available. If skiing is your thing, Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort is an easy (and gorgeous) 45 minute commute. Don't tell anyone, but Schweitzer Mountain is an absolute gem of a ski resort with 2,900 acres of gorgeous skiing terrain (and epic views) for all ages and skill levels. Our family spends a good bit of time skiing here. Winter Driveway Access: a 4-wheel/all-wheel drive vehicle is required to climb our driveway during winter conditions. OUR STORY: We (Tim and Molly) spent 14 years raising our young family in the desert heat of north Phoenix. Every summer we went dispersed camping as many weekends as possible with our four (now five) children in the backcountry mountain ranges of northern Arizona. We watched our family grow stronger together and sibling relationships flourish as the mental and emotional grime of the city grind was slowly washed from our souls during idle morning hangouts, afternoon hiking adventures and evening stories and laughs around the campfire. We had a particularly amazing mountaintop experience in 2014 backcountry camping over Labor Day Weekend where we felt a strong calling to share with others the blessings we were experiencing. Our hearts were impressed with a desire to host a place in the "wilderness" where people and families could escape and unwind from the noise and pace of city life for a few days and maybe even have a mountaintop experience of their own. After several years of waiting for the right timing, we started exploring and found this place in January 2019. By April we had sold our home in Phoenix and moved our family 2,000 miles north to this 27 acre property on a mountain of Hope. We named it Maverick Mountain Home, which captures our love of the wilderness, our mission to care for the lost, and our desire to be unbranded by the world. Upon landing here we immediately got to work preparing. We've spent the last five years working on hundreds of different projects, including: rehabilitating our driveway, beginning a long-term whole-house remodel, building a chicken coop, maintaining our driveway, fencing in a new orchard, chicken yard, and pig yard, planting trees, replacing a spring house, maintaining our driveway, installing underground infrastructure for future guest facilities, clearing trails, milling lumber, and maintaining our driveway. In 2024 we dedicated a good portion of April and May to preparing our first HipCamp site, Living Water, which went live on our wedding anniversary at the end of May. We added our second site, Boondock Butte in July with plans for several more sites in coming years. Since the first booking on our opening weekend we've watched as that line from "Field of Dreams" came true in our "backyard" - we built it and they started coming. This is a very private and quiet place, more of a sanctuary and not a party place. The only thing you hear is nature, a breeze through the pine trees, the birds, and the creek. This property was and is an organic permaculture farm in the forest. There are two orchards and an organic garden. The water is from a spring. The La Luna cabin is off-grid with an option to plugin if needed. Hot Showers at my cabins are private and outdoors. There's nothing more wonderful than a hot spring-fed shower. The toilets are composting. (No water is wasted here)! Two of the cabins were built from the trees on the property by the first family that lived here in the earlier 1900s. The Birds Nest cabin was originally a tool shed that needed a LOT of Love to be in the condition that it is today. It does have power, running water and wi-fi. There is the option to take an acrylic painting class, banjo, guitar or fiddle lessons, paddleboard lessons, and have a real old-timey campfire with a glass of wine or two with live music performed by our famous Fiddlin Red on the fiddle, banjo, and guitar. Your experience here may change your life forever! We haven't added all the experiential options yet, so if there is something you are interested in please inquire. Every year we make it more and more magical and interesting. It's four miles up a county-maintained dirt road and one mile to a non-motorized lake. I can't see my neighbors, but they are awesome artists and musicians and some of them are off the grid! If you're bringing a pet, they must be on a leash and be quiet pets. If you are bringing a child they also need to be quiet and respectful. I want to keep my neighbors and my other guests happy with a peaceful atmosphere. Thank you!

Before you book a reservation at the Moose, there are a few things you should know. Our hope, and the reason we opened Lost Moose Campground, is that our guests would have a friendly and fun atmosphere away from life's hustle and bustle where everyone has the opportunity to relax, enjoy nature, and explore north Idaho with their family and friends. Our campground is remote and it does take a little more time and effort to get here. While most of our guests repeatedly tell us it's totally worth it and it's just what they were looking for, others have let us know that they would prefer to be closer to the Interstate and the amenities of "civilization." We just want everyone to be happy! So, before you book a reservation, we want you to know a few things about our campground that way you'll know just what to expect when you stay at the Moose! • Lost Moose Campground is located 8 miles south of Interstate 90. Getting here includes 6 miles of gravel road that can be a little bumpy at times throughout the year. • There's no cell service or wifi at the campground. A landline is available for emergencies and cell service can be found often when traveling nearby roads and trails. • Due to our proximity to Latour Creek we do not have sewer hookups or a dump station. All RV Sites are equipped with power and water hookups and toilets and hot showers are available. • The nearest grocery store is approximately 12 miles away, the nearest gas station 11 miles, nearest dump station 11 miles, and the nearest restaurant is about 12 miles away. It takes about 45 minutes to reach Coeur d'Alene or Wallace. • Latour Creek provides a great place for kids and adults alike to cool off in the summer, but it is not suitable for kayaking or floating. The Coeur d'Alene River is only 8 miles away and is well suited for those activities. • Crystal Lake trailhead is approximately 12 miles above the campground and is accessible by car. The Mirror Lake trailhead is also accessed about 12 miles above the campground, but includes a narrow jeep road that isn't suitable for vehicles not designed for off-roading. • The Trail of the Coeur d'Alene's bike trail parking area is 8 miles from the campground at the junction of Latour Creek and I-90. • ATV's can be ridden from the campground. There are no formal maps of our area, but we are happy to help give directions and suggestions for great places to ride. SO MANY THINGS TO DO Most of our guests come stay with us to get away in the wild. When you are out and about on the trails, chances are you'll see moose, elk and deer - if you're lucky you may even see a bear! It's a real rarity when we hit the trails and don't see at least one of the above! • IN CAMP Play in the river, do some fishing in the creek, play horseshoes and corn hole, eat ice cream, explore the surrounding area, relax, build a campfire, etc. • FROM CAMP Enjoy access to hundreds of miles of ATV/UTV trails directly from camp. Take off upstream or downstream and fish all day. Huckleberry picking in season only a few miles away! • OUTSIDE CAMP Bike trails, kayaking or floating the river, fishing, water parks, theme parks and area attractions. Fun urban adventures are within an hour of the campground! • SILVER MOUNTAIN Try mountain biking in the region's best lift served bike park, go for a scenic gondola ride, hike to the fire lookout on Kellogg Peak or just settle in for some huckleberry ribs and listen to live music at the mountain house grill. How about a round of mountain golf at Galena Ridge, or grab some pavement bikes from Silver Mountain Sports and hit the 72 mile bike path that runs right by our parking lot. Silver Rapids, Idaho's largest indoor waterpark, takes weather out of the equation by creating a perfect 84 degree, football field-sized location to splash, swim and surf on the perfect wave!
