This is a breathtaking space that our family has poured many decades and multiple generations into. We are surrounded by jungle, with a freshwater stream running through the entire property and unobstructed mountain views. If you’re especially sensitive to mosquitos, bugs, geckos, free roaming chickens or other elements to be expected in nature, this might not be the place for you.
Waimanalo is a small agricultural town filled with nurseries, horse stables, and a high concentration of Hawaiian homes. It remains mostly undeveloped and authentic, and we aim to keep it that way. Outsiders do not often get the opportunity to stay back here, but we welcome respectful travelers looking for an authentic experience who can appreciate this privilege.
While nestled against the mountains, we're just a five minute drive from the beach. We are fifteen minutes from Kailua town, where you'll find several grocery stores, shops, and restaurants.
This is a working farm. While we are very hospitable, we are not in the business of hospitality. I am happy to accommodate travelers, but I am not here at your beck and call. If that is the experience you are seeking, I think you would be happier elsewhere. We appreciate all of your bookings, and profits go directly back into farm infrastructure and new fruit trees. Most Southern Town in the USA! Great spot right off the hwy making it so convenient to really explore Green Sand Beach, South Point, turtles at Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, and Volcano National Park, Honuapo Whittington Beach Park, coffee/honey/mac nut farms with animals, local farmers markets, most Southern restaurant, and local food trucks. We are located in a very special sweet spot of both jungle and country vibes. You can often see horses while watch whales and dolphins at a near by look-out, and hear chickens, frogs, a goat, dogs, neighborhood cats, many wild birds, a parrot, and a cow or 2 in the distance. This property has a huge mango tree, our home, our Massage Therapy and Yoga Studio space with a separate private entrance, regular on the grid power and wifi, aloe plants incase you have a sunburn, occasional guava, and hammock between coconut trees. We are very close to a park with covered picnic tabes, super easy to find, a few minutes to the world famous Punalu'u Bakery, a short walk to a bus stop and convenient store, less than 20 minute drive to several beachs or Kahuku and other attractions, 45 minutes to Volcano National Park, over a hour from Kona and over a hour from Hilo.

We have a hidden exotic fruit orchard tucked away through rolling green hills, perched over the Hamakua cliffs, overlooking the pacific.
We sell our fruits ripe and cut ready to eat at our roadside fruit stand, open 11-6 daily including holidays! We serve local fresh juices and machete open coconuts to drink ice cold.
We grow mango, durian, lilikoi, star fruit, chocolate sapote, buddhas hand citrus, finger limes, tangerines and tangelos, jackfruit, tree grapes, mangosteen, white pineapples, mountain apples, berries, spices and much more. We are home to dozens of rescue animals, many who came from Puna during the 2018 lava flow. We have peaceful sheep, lambs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese and a lovable pet pig. Not to mention our friendly farm cats.
Our current camp sites are not in the fruit orchard, but in a rolling hills open pasture land near the fruit stand. It is rustic and pastoral.
We are a community of a few passionate farmers and fruit lovers. There’s a family- myself Rose, my partner Matthew and our daughter Mela, plus several awesome guys and girls who help out in different areas to grow our lives together!

The property is located on the Kilauea Volcano at about 2700 feet in elevation and in sight of the majestic Mauna Loa volcano rising at the peak at 13,680 feet. Both volcanos have been active recently. There are several trails at the National Park
nearby; trails and several species of birds live on the property including Japanese Pheasants. On clear nights the skies provide excellent ambient viewing of the moon, planets and constellations. The campsites and cottage are located in the woods near a shower and flushing toilet and the property is off grid with the goal to establish an example of sustainable lifestyles and ecosystems. Camping equipment is available upon request and the cottage is furnished with a basic kitchen. The grounds also include a screen room with a grill, tables, chairs and a fire pit. Local fruits and vegetables are grown on the property and the greenhouse provides food. Solitude is available for those who seek silence and immersion in nature and a number of state and county beaches are within a forty minute drive. The focus is providing a quiet environment and an opportunity for solitude away from the distractions of urban lifestyles. Beaches are about forty five minutes and the drive to Hilo is about 25 miles.

Our great grandfather purchased a 40 acre ranch in 1957 as his retirement, homestead dream. Sadly, our property was hit severely by the August 2023 fires caused by downed electric lines. As this is agricultural lands, there are many critters. Dogs, chickens, pheasants, peacock, mongoose, and many birds. Tge invasive coqui frog is annoying to some and calming to others.
The micro climate here swings from warm and dry to wet quickly. Best to always prepare for rain.
There is snorkeling, beaches, local food, Cafe, BBQ, poke, fish-n-chips, grocery, Sunday farmers market and hiking nearby.
It is peaceful here, but also an active farming community.
As an organic farm, we put alot of effort into soil building and as such, there are soft places that will be damaged by the weight of a vehicle. Staying on the driveway is best. We will guide you to where you need to go.
Our road is paved, but bumpy. Any vehicle will make it without damage if driven slowly. 1 to 4mph tops. *Be sure to avoid the camper rental companies that restrict certain roads.

We have a lava tube on the property you can explore. It’s so tall in some places, you can drive a school bus through. Good to bring headlamps if you're interested in this and just for walking around the farm when there is no moon! When coming from the south, turn left toward the mountain immediately before the long Hauula Beach park bridge or when coming from the north turn right immediately toward the mountain just after the long park bridge into my dirt driveway. You will have the small river on your righthand side as you drive in.

I loved the communal feel of the campsite & was at a great location for lots of hiking, food, & adventure. The staff was very kind to us when we needed help, which is always a big plus! Chickens are definitely loud, so would recommend bringing earplugs for that if you’re a light sleeper. All around great experience!

It was a very convenient location, just a few miles east of Honolulu and the camp was pleasant. I appreciated warm water in the 2 outdoor showers; the 2 toilets were always clean. I would have appreciated a greeting or some sort of contact from someone who worked there simply for a quick orientation, but maybe that was due to the fact that i arrived late each day and headed out pretty early. All in all, i would definitely go back.

Our 2 night stay at Yip Camp Eco Retreat was perfect. Close to Volcano Natl Park for a full day of exploring the craters, lava tubes, ocean road vistas. Site was private with toilet and shower available. Tom was a helpful, affable host. Would definitely stay again.

Just as described. I arrived late due to flight change and it was easy to get to/find even at night. No problems parking and settling in. I never used an outdoor shower and it was kinda cool. Freeing almost ;) lol two toilets r 25 steps away. The public area for kitchen, fridge, etc is cool. Would use again. Their community is interesting, cool and friendly. This is for people open to non hotel options and willing to be stretched a lil. There r roosters at 530am or so but it didn’t bother me. I’m up around that time anyhow. Thx yall. I had a blast

Always a great experience, a friend was in town so we went and parked our camper here. It has wonderful amenities and just over all a fun and inviting atmosphere. This is the place to camp in your camper van or vehicle. It has great out door showers with warm water(not cold).
Flushing toilets are such an amenity while camping. Its also a farm so there's fruit trees all around. Also: there is a ferral cat colony down the rd so there are dozens of cats that come out at night. Thanks Marco for hosting such a safe and comfortable property!
