This place was absolutely not worth the expense. You need a serious off-road 4x4 truck just to get there, and even then the location is extremely difficult to find. It’s clear that nobody maintains or cares for this campsite. There is no water, no restrooms, and garbage is scattered everywhere. The grass was over 5 feet tall, making the area feel abandoned and unsafe. Calling this a campground is misleading — it’s basically the middle of nowhere.

I really don’t like leaving negative reviews, at all, so this one is just a “mixed feelings” review. It seemed pretty obvious that the host would copy and paste usual messages for each camper at the start of trips. The reason I say this (apologies if it’s not the case), they sent pictures of where to go (great directions) but also stated to camp anywhere in the freshly mowed grass. There was NO freshly mowed grass ANYWHERE. Everywhere was completely overgrown, no areas flattened, we had to put our tent in the road area where you can drive. The composting toilet was convenient but rather nasty (again not complaining much because it’s a composting toilet at a camp site).. but it didn’t look like this was touched or maintained in awhile. The firepit was nice but needed to be moved from where it was placed as the glass was overgrown around it, not a big deal. Unfortunately the tree house was damanged in the Kona low, that’s sad and I’m sorry! Hopefully they can repair, and the tree was broke and down in the road going to it. Overall the ambiance was nice, Mac nuts everywhere, didn’t find much fruit trees. And when driving in, a low hanging tree branch moved over the tops of our vehicles, could scratch up vehicles. Again just did not match online description. With maintenance it could be really enjoyable. BRING BUG SPRAY! WOW! Mosquitos!

I made a last minute reservation when I decided I was done driving for the day and found myself nearby. I was able to connect with Adam right away, and he patiently explained how to find them. They were right off the highway, a few minutes down a rough road that I suspect is pretty normal by Hawaii standards! I had peace and quiet for car camping. One house off in the distance, a little traffic noise from the road but it faded in the evening. It was just what I needed! Thanks so much.

Perfect for what we needed, and for the price we paid. It's exactly as described and shown in the pictures. Nothing fancy, but a nice quiet, flat, secluded space to park and camp for the night.

Good size camping spot. Nice palm trees. We watched stars and had campfire. We liked this place a lot.
The road is rough. If you are not SUV, or not use to rural roads - you gonna scrape the road. That is the only downside we can admit. Overall - we would rent it again!

The hosts were quick to reach our and communicate with clear directions. The orchard was easy to find and access. There are beautiful horses and goats, and acres of lush macadamia and fruit orchards. Pahala is a very small town with no grocery stores or restaurants, so it would be best to stock up on supplies someplace like Kona or Hilo beforehand. We had a picnic in a giant treehouse, and a good night's sleep camped in our vehicle. We look forward to camping here again.
