Our 501(c)(3) Non-Profit campsite has soft opening under way! This means we don't have many frills, but we are by far the closest RV site to central Atlanta, and the only one on MARTA public transit (right outside the gate). We are a rare gem in this city. One of the last areas that have been allowed to return to nature after being farmed until the 1960s. We are surrounded by 100s of acres of parkland, and yet are only 5 minutes drive from almost everything you will need. You will see the hand cut terraces put in by the farm workers and then the forest has spent the last 50 years taking it back. Still lots of old growth trees around though. The county just purchased/swapped 50 more acres to go with the hundreds more under it's watch. There is a 14 mile concrete trail that runs behind the property and all the way out along the south river. Quite the hike or bike if you fancy a good walk. There is a 18 hole golf course, sports fields, public pool and YMCA type community center all along the trail and walking distance from the campsite. We are a 501c3 non-profit church that is still in the early days of it's mission. Your donation to our site helps fund our mission and keeps the lights on. We are massively focussed on permaculture as the only sustainable way of life and rapidly moving towards being totally carbon neutral. You will be up close on our early days and see our Solar Roof Cabin (a total of 300 panels and 70kW output when completed). That would be true if you could drive through Fort Moore. You cannot so we are actually about 35 mins or 23 miles from Columbus. The drive is pleasant with very little traffic. Our campsite sits beyond the gate in front of our small farm/general store. There are rustic bathrooms with hot water, free WiFi and plenty to do! We encourage you to hike, bike, and explore. ** We are in rattlesnake and copperhead season. (SEP - OCT) Please be mindful hiking on warms days and evenings towards dusk. ** The store is not open at this time, and the Greenhouse is available by request. Deer, coyotes, wild hogs, and other creatures roam freely. Any pets must stay fully leashed at all times (see below). Our day starts early in the summer as we harvest for market. 1 night at Piney Hills Campground

Fantastic little campground with extremely helpful hosts. Here’s what I liked about it. There was lighting, but not too much. Sites were roomy with a small fire pit, picnic tables, and a charcoal grill. The individual bathrooms were clean, warm and convenient. A hot shower was great to get after a long day on the road. It was quiet with a few outdoor country sounds, like owls, a dog in the distance and a rooster at sunup. I’d recommend this place to anyone.

1 night at Surewood ForRest

I had a wonderful stay on JoLane and Sam's place. JoLane offered prompt replies and all information needed for arrival. Sam (a veteran) met me and guided me to Site 4. We had a nice chat about local going-ons... all the more making me feel at home. The site was just right for my Colorado and 16ft camper. That being said, this site would be perfect for single or multiple tent camping! I enjoyed the peaceful feeling of being in remote, deep woods... without really being far away from conveniences or access to major roads. Do yourself a favor a spend a night or two here!

Weekend Trip to Surewood ForRest

Staying at the farm has been one of the best camping trips I’ve ever taken! Mrs Jo and Mr Sam were the absolute best hosts anyone could ask for! Had help unloading and bringing my gear to the site. They were also so nice to let me borrow a small heater for when it was going to get down to freezing. The weather was beautiful and the walks through the property were great. My dog and I thoroughly enjoyed being around the goats and the mule since we stayed at the goat site. Enjoyed waking up to the roosters and peacocks. Plenty of good deadfall for firewood and the sites are set up very well. I also brought home some soap and honey that were made at the farm. Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend of relaxation and time in the woods. So many great things, but too many to list! You will definitely have to go experience it for yourself! I will definitely be returning!

Weekend Trip to Blackbird Farm

My 2nd time here and I’m so thankful I chose the same spot. I didn’t get to explore the trails the 1st time, so it was a nice treat this time. Charity is a wonderful host and I couldn’t ask for better! We love the isolation and seclusion of the site. It is right off the highway and is a little busy during the day with traffic but it tapers off late afternoon/evening and maybe a few cars between then and the next morning. There is a tree line, so it isn’t wide open to the road. Passer bys can only see the porch lights at night through the trees. We felt completely safe, even the first time I stayed with just my girls and left the hubs at home. We really enjoyed the cute little eggies and their little carton Charity left for us. Bathrooms were good and nice hot water. All in all, we were glad a weekend away from the kids and a visit with my brother was enjoyed at Blackbird Farm.

Nothing says beauty like a herd of Arabian horses galloping across a meadow!

6 nights at Sun Valley Horse & Hiking Camp!

This was such a fun place to stay! The weather wasn't the best the week I was there, rainy and cold. But nevertheless the experience of staying at a working stable was fun. Every morning the horses get fed, then let out of their stables into the fields. And every evening they get brought back in. I stayed around the back of the main stable next to the juvenile pen. They have 2 youngsters who I ended up making friends with. If you can't tell I'm not a horse person. But being able to stay at Sun Valley, I'm learning to love them! Definitely worth the stay. Note: you're staying amongst the stables, so expect flies and smells. Enjoy the atmosphere! It's all part of the experience!

8 nights at Piney Hills Campground

Great location and site. The animals are friendly and provide a great soundtrack to your stay. The site included a raised, wooden tent pad which was great. There are a good amount of trash cans available and the area is incredibly well maintained. The outhouse is in great condition and provides enough hot water for a good shower while the laundry facility provides an incredible resource and a free outlet. I felt very safe and had a wonderful experience. 10/10

3 nights at Risin' RV

My husband & I spent 3 nights at Risin’ RV. This is a cozy, urban camping experience. Location is great because you feel as though you’re in the country, however you are minutes from downtown East Atlanta. The community here is at a soft open. There is some construction going on, however it really didn’t interfere with our stay at all. You need to be self-contained to stay here because there are no bathrooms or showers. However, there are full hookups for RVs/trailer camping. The camp has a cat & chickens wandering around & that was really fun. Communication with the camp hosts was easy. The camp is secure & safe. There are 2 security gates & we were given a code for the keypad so we could come & go as we pleased. There was a little bit of road noise, however not significant. We had a quite, peaceful stay at Risin’ RV.

1 night at Iremide Family Farm

Beautiful camp spot close to town! My friend and I just wanted to come in for the night while I was in town to get away. We didn't use the showers or amenities (like the canoes) but wish we'd had more time. The camp area was lovely, the firepit is large & the twinkling lights made it feel magical. Would recommend! Our only issue was the barking dogs surrounding the property, which Brittany has no control of. We ended up leaving at 2AM because we could not sleep...but I'm extra sensitive to noises so for the average person this may not be a problem.

The location, convenience, and safety of this Hipcamp is great. Easy access to bike trails, bike lanes, and the bus system into downtown Atlanta was the closest in the area. Adding and changing dates and times was easy. Having access to the gate codes made coming and going easy, also. The chickens and roosters added a hone spun touch.

Camping in the A frame was absolutely perfect. We arrived late and left early as it was just a stop on our travel but it was exactly what we needed. The grounds were clean and quiet. The bed and bedding was more comfortable than most hotels. We used the AC in the A-frame for a little while but it cooled so well we ended up turning it off. The showers were huge in comparison to other campgrounds and they were very clean with hot water. Wish we could've stayed longer than the one night. We'll definitely go back on our next trip!

Loved the location, we could ride our bikes all the way to the Atlanta Beltline bike trail. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The door to the street was very convenient, also. I loved the chickens and rooster visiting us, especially running to our RV when cooking and the smoke detector went off. Too funny.

Weekend Trip to Piney Hills Campground

We have stayed at Piney Hills two fall seasons in a row now, and I can’t envision a year that we wouldn’t return. I love it (wife) because it is gated and I feel safe there, my husband loves it because it gets his wife out into nature (😂), and the kids love digging around for toads and bugs, and they love the farm animals so much. We’ve stayed both in an A frame and a tent site. If you’re staying in a tent and you want sleep, there are roosters at the farm so bring some ear plugs, they crow early! Ha! ;) Lisa is so sweet to the kids, and you can tell they just love providing a great place for families and everyone to enjoy a little slice of nature. 10/10.

This was such a hidden gem! The cabin was adorable, clean, and close to a very nice bathhouse. We were right next to two friendly ponies, and a short walk from a variety of animals, which the kids loved feeding. The campground was clean, quiet, and peaceful. Lisa was so kind, and even brought us a bottle of wine because we were there to celebrate a birthday. We will absolutely be back!

This was a perfect peaceful stay. Canille helped me with navigating there and made sure me and my pup didn’t need anything during our stay.
