The cabin features an inflatable hot tub, queen-sized bed, queen-sized pull out couch in the living room, full bathroom, kitchen, bartop, and laundry. Explore nearby waterfalls, hiking trails, caves, etc

Camp Mountain Lake Retreats 

This Camp originally was a girls and boys camp. Started by Colonel Reynolds in 1947 every summer it was opened for campers from all over the United States. Coach Moore, of Sewanee, the University of the South, took over in the early 1980s. My husband Charles Kildgore, was a counselor in training in 1974. When it came up for sale we couldn't help but purchase it to reclaim the history of what it once was.Learn more about this land:Pitch your tent and enjoy the beauty of nature near many hiking trails, lakes and a small town that hosts many quaint eateries and local arts.Located directly across from Camp Mountain Lake Retreats, Basecamp is a 6 tent camp site reclaimed from the original horse stable and riding ring.. The Bolo Club

Our grandparents moved to the farm on Little Crow Creek on September 27, 1927 from up in Sinking Cove. They had six children with our dad, Charlie Jr., being one of them.
Charlie Stubblefield Sr. was a very interesting man with a wide curiosity in just about anything that had to do with history, Indian artifacts, Civil War, fossils, oral history, religion and more.
Therefore, the small museum on the property next to the pavilion is dedicated to our grandfather.
Charlie Sr. and our grandmother served as Justices of the Peace for over 30 years. Further, our grandmother was the backbone of the family, and was a gracious lady with a special personality to handle the rigors of the day; we miss them both very much.
The area has many interesting stories and legacies of characters of yesterday and today.

The Falls at Sewanee Creek

45 private acres on our homestead for you to roam.  Seven eclectic sites to choose from ranging from primitive camping to a lovely log cabin.  All except the log cabin lovingly built by the owner, loaded with creative touches.

Disclaimer: The flow of the waterfall is subject to fluctuations in temperature, seasonal droughts, & rain fall. The most favorable seasons for waterfall flow are fall, winter & early spring.

We came to this magical place to found a self-reliant, homesteading eco-community when I retired from corporate life in 2006. It's called the Village on Sewanee Creek, named for the creek 800 feet below the bluff where we are located.

I traveled the world as a senior executive for Baskin-Robbins, Dunkin' Donuts, Papa Johns, Blockbuster, 7-Eleven and other retail franchises, making the world safe for Pizza, Ice Cream, Pancakes Video Rentals and American convenience. And I was ready for something more fufilling. I scouted for a place of exquisite natural beauty and I found it here. I bought way too much land just before the real estate bust and learned how to turn a nice fortune into a very small one. 

I faced challenges and had lots of fun. Now I want to share our experience. It's
the Village 2.0 for guests. Or not. Life in the city is OK as long as you can get away frequently.

I'm convinced if you love nature and the outdoors, this is the best place to celebrate it.

Hi there, I am Kyle Varnell along with my beautiful wife Kassy and our six children, Elijah, Nehemiah, Abigail, Noah, Maryam, and Lydia. We began our farming venture because we want to raise healthy food for our family.  It started with meat chickens and has moved us to more and more of the farming lifestyle.  Our livestock now includes poultry, cattle, and pork. The farm is helping us to become more self-sufficient while improving the land and the quality of food available to our family, friends, and neighbors.
