Private campsite in the middle of the city! My family and I were lucky enough to find a four acre urban forest less than two miles from FSU, the Florida Capitol and downtown Tallahassee. And just a mile from midtown! We are welcoming tent campers to come experience camping in an urban forest. The camping area has a hot water shower and sink, and the main site (#76), is fully outfitted with fire ring, tent pad, fresh water, a picnic table and plenty of hammock trees! The camp area has space for up to 6 tent campers and 2 cars. All sites share the shower and sink areas and a port-o-potty that is professionally cleaned weekly. Sprinter style vans (UPDATE) - We successfully had a Sprinter Van on the site and have now started accepting booking for that style van. Due to limitations on space and clearance, we can only allow vans with a max of around 10 1/2' tall and 23' long. This is equivalent to a Sprinter 170. We can not fit RVs or extended wide bodies conversions. Pets: Pets on leashes are allowed on the property. Guests with aggressive animals will be asked to leave.

A pet friendly, off leash, dark skies 6 acre slice of paradise in North Florida on the banks of the Suwannee River. In 1990 the State of Florida banned logging within 1,000 feet of the Suwannee River so Southeast Timberlands sold off it's holdings and we were lucky enough to purchase 6 acres and 444 feet of riverfront. A designated "Pristine Scenic Waterway" with very steep banks, the Suwannee is one of the few"wild" rivers left in the United States and can rise over 30 feet to flood stage almost overnight; yet due to its unique topography we can access it no matter how high or low the water. The Forest Service has bought up the surrounding lots, creating a 10 mile Conservation corridor supporting the National Scenic Florida Trail, it's clearly marked footpaths and natural attractions. To that end, we have left the old growth upland forest the way we found it. The campsite is a natural feature as is the Zen deck and canoe launch, a swale draining the ridge. The campsite is level, the lane to the river slopes gently dropping in elevation 20 feet over 1,000 in making it easy for able bodied guests to navigate their way to the white sugar sand beach. We want to share our retreat with those who are looking for a real wilderness experience in an exclusive private setting. A Waiver of Liability is required by all guests as the Wilderness is an inherently dangerous place. We only offer one accommodation per weekend with a maximum of 8 people, because we only have 1 toilet, so our guests can have the seclusion they desire and be free to enjoy the natural wonder of the woodland experience in any manner they choose.

A winding footpath leads you from the road to the campsite. There is a fire pit with table and chairs and a dog hammock. There are two clearings for pitching tents: a large 12x20 space adjacent to the fire pit, and a smaller 10x12 space that is tucked a little further into the property and connected by footpaths for extra privacy. Pets are welcome but there is no fence so they will need to be on a leash. The area is entirely dirt roads, but there are street signs for navigation. Limited parking is available in front of the property. This is a great hub for outdoor recreation! Spend your day fishing, paddling, or swimming in the nearby springs and rivers, or hike one of the many nearby trails, then retire under a blanket of stars at night. The campsite is conveniently located within a 9 min drive of Twin Rivers State Forest, 16 min drive of Madison Blue Springs State Park, and a 17 min drive to Suwannee River State Park. It is 2 min drive (or 9 min walk) to the trailhead of Suwannee River State Park's Big Oak Trail (16-mile loop that connects to the Florida National Scenic Trail) and a boat launch to the Suwannee River. Horse transporters, competitors, staycations, evacuees, anyone traveling I-10, or nearby, will have a place to stay with your horses. Transporters can come in LATE and leave EARLY, after horses can stretch & rest. Horse staycations allow a chance to vacation with horses, or seek shelter from a storm. Horse competitors going to local show barns need horse boarding too. COME SEE US. Dog competitors and owners- Dog owners preferring not to stay at a hotel or relatives, when visiting. Dog competitors coming to Tallahassee or traveling through can come where there’s space for dogs to run. **WARNING** We are a new WORKING FARM. You can pet the goats and we have animal experiences available to bottle feed them. It's always a big hit and makes great photos. Come and de-stress by snuggling our goats. These bouncing bundles of joy are guaranteed to make you smile! There are chickens and guinea fowl that are all personable and love to be fed. We also have two mini therapy certified horses, and two mini ZEBU cows that love to eat from your hand. We offer farm tours!!! There are livestock guardian dogs that protect the farm. They sleep lots during the day and patrol at night so they BARK lots at night... **Again we are a REAL WORKING FARM. SIGN UP for the animal feeding experience. It’s an upclose experience to help hand feed the whole herd, collect eggs and learn all about our special animals and see all the unique personalities we have here on the farm. If you are real adventurous you can help around the farm!!! LOCATION- We are located in northeast Tallahassee and only about twenty minutes from FSU stadium - straight shot! We love to host parents and students! Great weekend getaway! ***We also offer primitive camping sites as well in The Orchard area. No electric at campsites. WATER is available. *Need room for more occupants?? See optional add-ons for rental tent/screen rooms we will set up to allow for additional occupants at our units. Or pay small tent fee to bring your own and place near your site. KITCHEN- *We have a small outdoor kitchen area with grill, griddle, stove, utensils, and picnic table. Basic cooking supplies are provided in your unit (oil, salt, pepper, etc) basic cookware, utensils, disposable and washable cups and plates. You are welcome to pick from the garden when its complete. There is also a common area, to eat and hang out. We will soon have a community fire pit for all to enjoy. BATHHOUSE- In the Homestead area we have a small rustic community bath house with a hot shower and a running toilet. Soap, shampoo, conditioner, and fresh towels provided. The Primitive Orchard area has cold water faucets and compost toilet. Both bath houses are close to all overnight areas. CHECK IN/Check-out time may be flexible depending upon concurrent bookings! We ask that you clear your campsite by 11am, but you are welcome to spend the remainder of the day hanging out with the goats, riding or just relaxing. Check in time is 2pm or later. Unless you are a returning guest please arrive before 7pm. (ALL late arrivals must be approved ahead of time, unless emergency.) Northern Florida offers some of the darkest skies in the state with incredible star viewing opportunities on clear nights, so pack the telescope! Enjoy the beauty and tranquility of Florida’s northern woods without having to share it! This campsite sits on a 0.25 acre wooded lot surrounded by vacant wooded lots of similar size in every direction, so there is lots of privacy and quiet with no other neighboring campsites. All footpaths and clearings are maintained by hand to minimize disrupting Florida’s natural woodland habitat, allowing you the opportunity to be completely encapsulated by the forest and surrounded by beautiful native plants. This is a primitive campsite in the woods! There is no running water, bathrooms, or electricity. You’ll need to bring everything you need and take everything you brought. A winding footpath leads you from the road to the campsite. There is a fire pit with table and chairs and a dog hammock. There are two clearings for pitching tents: a large 12x20 space adjacent to the fire pit, and a smaller 10x12 space that is tucked a little further into the property and connected by footpaths for extra privacy. Pets are welcome but there is no fence so they will need to be on a leash. The area is entirely dirt roads, but there are street signs for navigation. Limited parking is available in front of the property. This is a great hub for outdoor recreation! Spend your day fishing, paddling, or swimming in the nearby springs and rivers, or hike one of the many nearby trails, then retire under a blanket of stars at night. The campsite is conveniently located within a 9 min drive of Twin Rivers State Forest, 16 min drive of Madison Blue Springs State Park, and a 17 min drive to Suwannee River State Park. It is 2 min drive (or 9 min walk) to the trailhead of Suwannee River State Park's Big Oak Trail (16-mile loop that connects to the Florida National Scenic Trail) and a boat launch to the Suwannee River. Parking is available at the boat launch and trailhead. NOTE: You may hear distant gunshots from nearby hunting preserves.

Janet was so easy to work with! This spot has everything you need and Janet and Jerry made everything all ready with firewood and all! The river is a nice short walk and we really enjoyed fishing and playing in the water. We absolutely loved this spot, we felt so secluded and safe. Our young boys and dogs had so much fun running around. The horseshoes were so fun and the sleeping porch was amazing to have the extra sleeping space. Hope we can have the chance to stay longer and explore more of the beautiful Suwannee River next time!

Nice small camp site. The river was very low. The pathway down to it is fairly steep, somewhere between 45° and 35°. It would take two people to launch kayaks or canoes, though a paddle board would be managable for one person. Due to the steep bank, I would not recommend this campsite to paddle campers. Unloading and loading camping gear from canoes here would be a chore and a half when the river is low. If you plan on fishing, there is room for one maybe two people to cast off the bank. The campite gets full sun for most of the day. There is room for 2-3 two person tents and 2 hammocks. That would leave the campsite very very crowded. 1-2 tents and a hammock would be ideal. There is very little room to turn a vehicle around once you head down the drive way. I recommend you hop out at the gate and take the 2-3 min walk to the camp before you drive down. The dirt road leading to the property has some areas where the sugar sand is 2-3 inches deep. There was minimal noise from the neighbors during the day, and very quiet at night. There was some noise from the near by bridge during commuting hours, but thats to be expected. There is only one residence visible from camp, across the river. Minimal light pollution meant you could see the bands of the Milky Way at night. Over all, its a nice place to spend the night. The campsite was clean when we arrived. The host was very reaponsive when messaged through the HipCamp app.

We absolutely love camping at Tony's place, we stayed an extra day as well! A must visit location! This was our second time at The Fruit Factory and we loved it even more than the first time. Very tranquil environment, our 4 German Shepherds loved running through the orchards and playing in the pond. We loved sitting by the fire at night. We went to Thomasville at Tony's invitation for First Friday's... a local outdoor event with live music, restaurants, food trucks and a great time! So much fun had this past week! Will definitely be back!
