Weekend Trip to Lake Side At Bear Creek

I found this little spot after driving all day and really just needing to get some sleep. I booked my reservation around 10pm, and within minutes I received a call from Byron. I was there within 20 minutes or so, at which time I had the pleasure of meeting Byron, who led me to my spot. It was dark when I arrived, but the reservoir was still beautiful. I rolled my windows down and fell asleep to the sound of fish catching their dinner. I awoke in time to watch the sun rise over the water, and man was it worth it. I got a good night's sleep, a beautiful sunrise, and the absolute pleasure of meeting my gracious host, Byron. I will coming back many times in the future, without a doubt. Thank you for everything, Byron! You've got a beautiful spot there, and I enjoyed my stay very much!

I loved this hip camp I even extended my night an extra day! I enjoyed the water views and that it was very peaceful. It very close to Helen, Unicoi and other places to hike or explore so awesome location. I am not really sure how it’s set up though….if the lake site numbers matter or if it’s just first come first serve but I enjoyed it. The owners and other people that live on property were nice! And they have a full kitchen thats shared with the people who live there and bathrooms shared with them as well. For a campsite it’s nice amenities. Also includes free fire wood which is awesome!

Awesome campsite. We had a tent and a hammock on campsite 2. It was a lovely experience. Only took a little over an hour to travel to the campsite from Atlanta and the firewood alone would keep us coming back. Hosts were awesome and checked-in often.

Gary is a fantastic camp host. He's extremely attentive to any wants or needs you have as well as an exceptional chef! The camp area is super cute. We enjoyed the spring and the super cute tire swing off in the woods! Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!

2 primitive sites together, but plenty of space on both sites. Nice amount of trees for shade, a picnic table, fire ring and small grill were on Primitive site #1.

2 nights at Lake Side At Bear Creek

This spot is breathtaking! We were a little nervous because our rig was just on the edge of being too long to get in but Byron met us at the drive and made sure we squeezed in safely. And then the whole world opened up to this gorgeous lake that felt as if it was there just for us. Our dogs had a blast sniffing around and Byron even treated us to some free firewood and an afternoon paddle in the lake. HIGHLY recommend this site on the waters edge.

I had to come back to this beautiful spot, it truly is paradise. The host Byron, is so kind and welcoming it felt like I was coming home. My dog Lilly loves this place especially being able to run free. We will be back again for sure, its our #1 favorite spot!!!!

Byron was an amazing host! He was able to help me out with directions getting into the site and welcomed me as I arrived. He was super friendly, even provided me free firewood for the fire pit he made for the campsite. The campsite is a beautiful spot of land with tons of room for bigger groups. I set up my tent right by the lake and enjoyed falling asleep to the frogs singing. In the morning I woke up to a beautiful sunrise over the lake. It’s conveniently located 25 minutes away from Athens. Bryon respected my privacy but left a line open for if I had any questions. Definitely will be coming back and bringing my friends down!!

What a gorgeous spot for camping! The meadow by the horses is so inviting, on a gentle hillside with plenty of flat land for camping for our group of 11. It was so quiet, the horses right by so picturesque, the host a gem! Amenities are just what we needed--a spigot, a clean port-a-potty. We appreciated the tables and the fire pit. We plan to return!

5 nights at Lakefront get away

Very nice site just as shown in pictures. Very easy to get to. Rained on us some but still had a wonderful time fishing and relaxing. Was a little concerned about comments about large hills. Not bad at all, I’m from north Ga. Kinda giggled after I saw “the hill” so if that’s keeping you from trying this site don’t worry about that just go you will be thankful you did!

Weekend Trip to Glampsite 17 Acre Farm South of ATL

Super cute little place, I really wish I had been staying longer to enjoy the hangout area in the barn. It was decorated so nicely and the bed was quite comfortable. Only complaint is the camper did not have curtains on all the windows which let a good bit of the lights outside in at night.

What a great place! Ginni, George and the family were fantastic. Very clean grounds, nice people, beautiful river, gold mining, rope swing, tubing, campfires with unlimited wood, fishing and more. The kids had a blast! Highly recommend!

Bill was awesome. He was a big help setting up and super friendly... The location is awesome and the setting is lovely.. I brought my two grandchildren and it was a great great away without the long travel time. Perfect!!!!!

A lovely spot right next to the lake. A little bit tricky to find in the dark. And is among domestic housing, so you need to respect quiet time. I arrived quite late due to missing a time zone change and got a little lost. Owner is a really nice guy and is working on better location info.

This means we don't have many frills, but we are by far the closest RV site to central Atlanta, and the only one on MARTA public transit (right outside the gate). We are a rare gem in this city. One of the last areas that have been allowed to return to nature after being farmed until the 1960s. We are surrounded by 100s of acres of parkland, and yet are only 5 minutes drive from almost everything you will need. You will see the hand cut terraces put in by the farm workers and then the forest has spent the last 50 years taking it back. Still lots of old growth trees around though. The county just purchased/swapped 50 more acres to go with the hundreds more under it's watch. There is a 14 mile concrete trail that runs behind the property and all the way out along the south river. Quite the hike or bike if you fancy a good walk. There is a 18 hole golf course, sports fields, public pool and YMCA type community center all along the trail and walking distance from the campsite. We are a 501c3 non-profit church that is still in the early days of it's mission. Your donation to our site helps fund our mission and keeps the lights on. We are massively focussed on permaculture as the only sustainable way of life and rapidly moving towards being totally carbon neutral. You will be up close on our early days and see our Solar Roof Cabin (a total of 300 panels and 70kW output when completed). Miners Cabin: The miners cabin is located in between Dawsonville and Dahlonega Georgia in the heart of gold country. This unexpected gem has been our family’s oasis for the past 7 years and now, we are opening it up to share with others. Access to the cabin will be via our driveway and guests will not be allowed to drive directly to the cabin. There is a short 3 minute walk from parking access to the cabin. This walk is on an incline and those who may have difficulties walking up or down an incline or on uneven surfaces should consider this walk when planning your trip. Due to access limitations, we ask that you not bring more than two vehicles, We have additional parking at another property if needed but please let us know in advance. The Cabin sits on a grassy meadow a stones throw from cane branch stream. In the morning and afternoon you should expect to see or hear all types of wildlife. We have a family of raccoons that come around in the summer months and will eat just 5 foot from the porch. In the winter we have several deer that access the creekbed. The wildlife is fed often by our family and has been for the past seven years. Hummingbirds, woodpeckers, whippoorwills, crows, and even goldfish call this oasis home. At night our kids love to hunt for small crawfish in the creek with a flashlight. While bears are always something to watch for, we don’t typically see them on the property. A few miles of walking paths have been meticulously cared for and created by my father Mike. The mossy stone paths look like something out of a story book in the spring. Along the trails you will find benches and hammocks to lounge on and if you look close enough you may find some crystals that were placed for others to find from some of our many mineral digs over the years. There are two bridges that cross the stream along the paths and an old water wheel from way back that was used in the gold mining process in the creek. Vegetation on the property includes a variety of chantrell and coral mushrooms. If Mushrooming is your thing we have a good stash of chicken of the woods and if it’s fruiting you are welcome to pick it. Mountain laurels line the creek and bloom beautiful pink blossoms in the spring and summer. Cane creek branch is a quiet and beautiful stream. The water only gets about waist high at the deepest point making it perfect for kids or dogs to splash around in. Inside the cabin you will find a few gold pans if you would like to try your luck. We have found gold in the creek along with garnets and a few flashes of platinum. This property used to be the site for a long abandoned gold mine and an old metal water wheel still sits on the creek bank. The water wheel is locked but will still turn and at over 8 ft high it is a sight to see in itself. You will find a few small fish but nothing to shake a pole at. The cabin itself is nothing fancy and we like to keep it that way. It is as primitive as you would expect from the title. Only one electrical outlet is currently in the cabin. There is no running water but there is a water basin for brushing your teeth and washing small items. The bathroom is behind the cabin in a separate facility. This outhouse is unlike anything you have seen and has all of the comforts of home. Sleeping arrangements include a king size bed on a solid frame and a small sofa. You are welcome to pitch a tent or hammock outside as well. In the winter the cabin gets cold, we will provide an electric heater but you should know that it may still get cold inside. The porch looks over the creek and makes a great spot for bird watching. Amenities include a charcoal grill and a fire pit for cooking. The fire pit has several stable adirondack chairs circling it. We have a throwing board on the property however you will need to rent the throwing items from us and sign a waiver. We also have a small swing by our goldfish pond just across the creek. Things to do near us. Kayaking and tubing are just 7 miles down the road. You can rent a kayak from us or from the outfitters. We have 4 sit on top kayaks for adults 2 for children under 100 lbs and several whitewater kayaks are available for rent if you have prior experience. We also will guide you down the river as an additional service. See our price list. Our local outfitter Chestatee River Adventures is typically 30.00 for each kayak and 10.00 for tubing. The trip is 6 miles and can take anywhere from 3-5 hours depending on the water level. Please note that the outfitter is only open during the spring and summer. Our family will take you out no matter the time of year. Fishing on the Chestatee, Etowah, or lake lanier are also great activities and all can be accessed with a short 10 minute drive. Lake Zwerner is a local fishing hot spot great for grabbing a kayak or canoe and spending the day on the water. Gold Mining: Dahlonega is the gold city! Only 15 minutes away you will find Consolidated Gold Mine – Underground Gold Mine Tours. Here you can do some gold and gem mining as part of the tour. The gold museum in scenic dahlonega is close by as well.If you are looking for something more my dad offers trips and will show you the basics or can take you out for an all day dredging experience. You keep whatever you find! Hiking: The area hikes include the start of the great Appalachian (Apple-atch-an) trail. This is amicalola state park a 25 minute drive from the property.

It is a small space with nothing but outlets and a small refrigerator. You will need to bring all of your essentials. Pillows/Sheets/Linens/towels are not provided. The bath house is steps away. You will need towels/rags/soap/toilet paper and all essentials. It is merely a toilet, sink, and shower. There is a Weber charcoal grill available on site. Bring your essentials. You will need to bring your own firewood.. The driveway to the site is marked with the 1793 address sign on Davids Home Church rd. If you are driving N/NW on David's Home Church Rd, it is exactly 2 miles on the right from where you turned onto the road. If you are traveling E/SE on David's Home Church Rd, it is exactly 1.7 miles on the left from where you turned onto David's Home Church Rd. The gate will be closed, please close the gate back when you leave. Please take advantage of the Broad River outpost to rent kayaks/canoes/tubes. Also The Sandbar is located minutes away and they also provide rentals as well as zip lining. Royston has a grocery store and fast food.

The space is simple and comfortable, with a full bathroom, loft, Tempurpedic mattress, dining table, cooktop, TV and internet. There is a full closet for hanging clothes and several shelves. On the farm, you will find rows and rows of beautiful wildflowers. Within walking distance of restaurants, coffee shops & zoo. The space We're right in the middle of the city, a short distance from many attractions. But when you set foot on the farm, you'll feel like your miles away. The tiny house sits behind a concrete block facade that remains from an old house. The space in front of the house may look empty, but it has been used by the farmers for seed starts. In the future, we will be converting the space to a patio with seating and ping pong. The water heater is small - pretend you’re glamping! You can get about a 5 minute shower or a good excuse for skipping it altogether. Guest access You may wander the farm, but please stay off the beds and be mindful that these guys work really hard! The farm is pretty quiet January and part of February. Other things to note There is also a vintage Airstream on the property and is also rented out on Airbnb.
