5 J’s Camp is completely private 2.5 acres that backs the Ocala National Forest in Umatilla . This our family getaway, we are a family of 5 and we all have names that start the letter J. There are endless places to put a tent including by the lake, or completely private areas, or by the common areas to be close to a bathroom and kitchen and pavilion, water and electric. The amenities include a pavilion with an outside kitchen, dinning and living area. There is also a ( large shed converted to a ) cook shack with a full size fridge, microwave, electric burners and a toaster oven. There is also a bathroom with a full-size shower/tub, hot water and a toilet. It comes with all of the basics to be comfortable while you camp. Also, you have a good chance of being alone. we usually only book 1 party at a time, Just message me to confirm. The property has enough lighting to completely light up the common area. There is also water and electric all over the property. There is a shooting range right outside of the property that is part of the forest. There is Blue Sink several miles away, it is a spring feed swimming hole that is deep enough for SCUBA. There is horse trails and OHV trails as well. This camp was a hunting camp and still has an huge animal cleaning station on the back side of the property, with water, drainage, power, lighting and all stainless steel sinks and counters. Come to play and explore or come to relax. Our camp is always (slowly)being Improved, you might see work in progress so be aware there may be a consolidated area that looks messy. This is a camp, everything gets dusty, and there are bugs. We keep the yard kept up and do what we can to limit bugs in the common area. I recommend a 4x4 although I don’t own one my self. The roads are usually decent, but the weather has a lot to do with roads in the forest.

At times you will think you are in the Amazon jungle. The birds are very playful, entertaining to watch them play throughout the day. You are more than welcome to go and interact with the birds. There are swinging hammock chairs hung up in the sanctuary for your comfort. There is a variety of wildlife out here every day. You will see turkeys, deer, raccoons, armadillos, wild boars and even on occasion a black bear. However, we don't recommend you go walking out into the swampy brush area, as there is a lot of Florida native wildlife like snakes and etc. and we want you to be safe. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Our property is gated and fenced off and extremely private. And no one can just walk on to our ranch. We live and work on the property ourselves, and are just a short walk or phone call away. This is a very private place, no close neighbors. Our goal is to give you all the space and privacy you need and or require. Most of our guests are here to participate at an event at the Daytona 500 track. Only 35 minutes to get to the track in Daytona. We understand that alot of our guests are driving from long distances to get here. We will work with you on check in times not to worry. There is a ton of space to park your vehicle and trailer if needed. We are on well water out here in the country.

Weekend Trip to Lakefront Downtown Orlando

My time at Lakefront Downtown Orlando was phenomenal! The hosts Julian and Jason were extremely friendly, and the space they provide is excellent. The house was perfectly clean, and had a nice kitchen to prepare some meals and chat a bit, a chilling living room to rest, a complete mosquito-proof swimming pool... And the designated camping/RV area was quite wide, plus the lake view (or even activities!) looked great. Besides all that, and very important for me, the place is within walking distance to Camping World Stadium (where the festival I was attending was held): a very cheap ride, or a ~30 min walk. You also have a Walmart across the road, very convenient. But above all, the ambient there was in the house with other RVs' and rooms' guests was super chill and friendly --in part I'm sure because of the great vibe of our festival, but also due to what Julian, Jason, and the house transmitted!

Weekend Trip to 5 J’s Camp

This campsite had all the amenities you need to enjoy your stay. The location itself is beautiful and the hosts were some of the nicest people you can meet. Checked up on our group a few times to see if there was anything else they can do to ensure we had a pleasant time. The campsite itself is very generous with its space and the hut provided sufficient light that helped set up the tent at night when we got to the site. Lots of outlets and a decent sized fridge that we kept our food in to not attract animals. Shower is nothing to write home about, but it worked and the warm water felt nice after a long day of hiking around. The hosts provided us with lots of appliances that we were able to use to help heat up our coffee and food. Had a very nice couch area that we stayed around during the day. The firepit is pretty big and the hosts were gracious enough to leave us some wood ready for us to use when creating a fire. Overall 10/10 expierence, and will be returning sometime soon.

Good campground that worked out great for us to visit our close friends in Palatka. Utilities were all in working order. Sites are sandy, as is expected in this part of FL, but fairly level. Our site 28 was good to get in and out of. Hip camp gave us site 25 but the host said there is no electricity there, a problem she says with Hipcamp app.

5 nights at 5 J’s Camp

Beautiful quiet spot in the middle of the woods next to a very pretty lake. I'm sure there were fish there but I'm real bad at fishing. This saint of a host was about to come help us get our car unstuck on Thanksgiving morning, luckily a neighbor was able to pull us out. But that's the kind of area you'll be staying in, everyone was so kind and helpful. The site had everything that we needed for a long stay. It was a luxury to be able to bring out stuff like steaks and lots of beer and not worry about it getting warm on us. Will book again once I upgrade my ride. Cannot recommend enough they are wonderful hosts 🙌❤️

Where to go

Canaveral National Seashore

Travel 30 minutes south to wander 24 miles of untouched white sand beaches at Canaveral National Seashore. Manatees, sea turtles, and other endangered species help create a unique coastal habitat to explore. The southern entrance has day-use beach areas (including a nude one), while the northern entrance gives easier access to Castle Windy and Eldora Hammock Trails. There are a small number of boat-accessible, primitive campsites located on nearby lagoon islands, though a permit and reservation are required to camp overnight. Canoe rentals are available after reserving one of the campsites.

Blue Spring State Park

Less than an hour inland from Port Orange, campers can boat through bubbles at Blue Spring State Park. Known for its massive manatees and limestone aquifer springs that create tiny bubbles, the park also offers boat tours, scuba diving, and snorkeling. During the winter months, campers flock to the boardwalks and observation decks to catch hundreds of manatees migrating. Summertime heat hosts fishing, swimming, paddling, and inner tubing. The park has one on-site campground offering six cabin rentals and a range of campsites with electrical hookups, fire rings, and picnic tables.

Hontoon Island State Park

Hop over to Hontoon Island for a peaceful paddle. Accessible by park ferry or private boat, Hontoon Island State Park serves pure serenity since motorized vehicles and swimming are prohibited.
